Its possible they have some sort of relationship with the Dancing With The Stars show that requires them to have someone from the show.

A lot of times it is only 3-4 questions before they do a dance and are off the show.

I don't particularly disagree about him not being a good idea as a guest. You never know how she will handle it. It might not be as much a puff piece as you think.

In any case, you should keep in mind that the Ellen and her staff are unlikely to see stuff posted here.
In the past there has been some monitoring, but with the drop in activity here, I wouldn't be surprised if they mostly stopped monitoring us.

Is it just me or do you hear the sound of tweets too? What about facing a book?

We have seen over the years of her show that she tend to give people a second chance.
For example, she did with Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, etc... she believes in second chances.
If not for second chance---her show would not have happened and now in its 14th season--- all because someone in the industry was willing to give her that second chance.
We all make mistakes, we are all human, we all deserve that second chance.

Allowing him to go on the "Apology Tour" makes Ellen and her staff complicit in this pervasive attitude to forgive and reward the rich and famous while condemning those less fortunate, who probably would be marked for life under similar circumstances. The swimming authorities imposed a stiff penalty for his actions, and that should be a clue that this behavior should be frowned upon and not forgiven so hastily. But then, it's all about the numbers and money, right Ellen?

Ellen's message to the world is one of compassion and love. Yes Ryan Lochte was stupid and made a mistake, but then who amongst us hasn't been stupid and made mistakes at times in our lives. His misfortune was that his mistake was played out in front of the world's media, we have the luxury of making mistakes without that! As Jats said, Ellen was given another chance and look what she made of it. Maybe Ellen giving him this chance will be the thing he needs to start on the path of redemption and working towards making up for his mistakes!

Not really an Ellen appearance, but a Simon The Cat video featuring Ellen for International Women's Day.
