okok i'm still running a little behind here... :oops:

i was watching season 4 of Ellen (the series bien sur!) and they keep making subtle references to her being gay like when Spence says she could listen to "Melissa Etheridge, Indigo Girls or [...]",

or when the psychologist says to Ellen "All right, let's talk about men" and Ellen goes all freak (that was so funny!! it's when she is supposed to ramble in her head :P )

or when Audrey says to Ellen "let's promess we'll never let any men stand between us" and El responds "I can honnesly tell you that won't happen" etc.

anyway, during those things the audience was laughing its ass off, even making 'wouhou' sounds.. but it's BEFORE the puppy episode!!

i wasn't following her life at that time so i have no clue..but does that mean people knew she was gay at that time ????

I don't know for sure, but I think it was leaked out that she was gay and/or doing a coming out episode, so some people probably knew even though it was supposed to be a secret. How close are those episodes that have hints to the puppy episode?

if she were to date a "nobody" chances are this nobody could have told everyone!
and if she were to date someone famous, the paparazzis would have known for sure!!

but i suppose she was not single all that time.. :? she's too hot for that!!

It was a pretty open secret, I think. Ellen never denied her sexuality - she just hadn't formally announced it to the whole wide world.

It was leaked at the beginning of the season that she was gay, and before the episode she was on the cover of Time Magazine with the headline, "Yup, I'm Gay" Plus it was common for her to be seen in several different LA lesbian bars. Her first well known relationship was with Anne.

It was fairly obvious, as she did not try to hide her sexuality @ that time, if ever. The way that I remember it was that the news of the puppy episode leaked out prior to airing & that Ellen's writers purposely let her have those pre-episode jokes that alluded to the coming truth. The audience reaction shows that people knew precisely what she was driving @. :cool:

Between her milking the scenes for every last drop of humour & the audience getting her drift immediately, there really was little secret of it @ the time. 8)

I have the same problem! I checked. You are absolutly right. She turns on the tap and says "hey".

I could be wrong, but I think the only time the word "gay" was used was in Hello Dalai when Peter says he is gay and then asks Ellen if she wants to say anything. The audience reaction is great.

The one I like is the tease at the end of Fleas Navidad, where they are opening their christmas presents and Ellen gets a copy of her Taste This CD and says "Ellen Degeneres. I love her show. Do you think the rumours are true?" Cracks me up every time. :lol:
