i did notice that ellen seemed odd. at the beginning she kept moving her hands all around (more than usual) and she even kept her left hand behind her back, maybe its just me. she seemed to rush through and not relax and enjoy like usual.

ya, I know we don't know Ellen personally, but I feel like this weird empty feeling in the pit of my stomach when I saw that she wasn't wearing her ring. I just can't believe its true. :(

I noticed the same thing that she kept moving her hands everywhere like she was hiding them or something. She kept holding her left hand and then put it behind her back like she wasnt sure if she wanted to show it. I was sitting on the edge of my seat trying to get a glimpse of it to see if it was there or not. When I finally saw it I about cried! Personally I thought she seemed happier in her dancing but I wasnt paying attention to her monologue cuz I was calling everyone telling them that her ring really wasnt there!

I feel the exact same way about it, like Ellens not Ellen without that ring and knowing that shes not with Alex anymore. Maybe this whole Portia thing is not true(hopefully) and they are just taking some time off. Im really hoping thats all it is and that she did not leave her for some younger woman.

(depending on what time zone you live in) you can go to www.ellendegeneres.com and click on galleries and video gallery and click on daily monologue then click on tuesdays monologue... i live in san diego, ca and the show airs at 3pm (it's 2pm now) and the clips usually on her site around 7 or 8pm my time... hope that works for you...if not i'm sure someone will post a picture sooner or later...

i hear ya. she finally had everything in her life going her way, and now this....it feels like something in our lives took a turn as well! haha. it just seems so odd to not think of her with Alex. blah. this is no fun. :( perhaps it was for the best though...who knows but them.....

Omg I am so glad that I am not the only one that is so sadden by this news....Now I don't feel so odd you know it is weird to feel this emptyness and not even know this person personally. I too hope they are on a break.

ok so i'm watching the show right now... soooo weird to see her without the ring!!! it's just not ellen... did you notice how long the audience was applauding? it seems like they were very supportive yesterday towards ellen and everything thats going on... maybe its just me and the fact that i know whats going on, but yes ellen was still funny and didnt miss a beat, but she just wasn't "as fun" i guess you could say... soo sad

I just watched the show myself and it was weird not to see her ring.....I did notice the long audience applaud but what about the songs she asked stevie to sing........could be reading to much into them though. And I did nottice that the camera didn't focus all that much on her today also. Could just be me though.

ugh...first time seeing the ringless finger....that's painful. she looks naked without it.... :idea: wait, that could be a good---...oh never mind........:wink: :) ......... (my weak attempt to mix a little comic relief in this whole ordeal)
thats just so odd to see though. maybe it's just the video online, or maybe i'm just looking for little things to nit pick at...but she kinda looks a little washed out in the face. doesn't seem to have her normal color. hmmmmm

I came home for lunch today just to see if the ring was on the finger and my hopes were up when I still saw the picture, but shortly after it felt like someone had dropped a bucket of cold water on my head...Like someone said before it feels like am going thru the brakeup.Has anyone heard anything about Alex and how she is doing? I wonder who she has around her to help her thru this.

Her family, and probably Kathy Najimy, they seemed close, from the footage I saw. I just watched tuesday's monologue, and no ring :cry:

i was watching some of the monologues from last week, and when ellen says something funny that the audience has a good response to, she will do that kinda raspy cough laugh (i love that laugh btw) and today when the audience responded well to the jokes shed smile but not really laugh... i'm thinking that shes really sad... i wonder if alex left her... especially cause of all the comments made in the dateline interview where she stated that alex is the love of her life... it doesnt go away that fast....

My thought exactly! She has not had that 'cough laugh' in a whole week....just a smile...similar to the pictures at the VH1...this must be so tough for her. And like I mentioned elsewhere, her reference to 'enjoy your misery' on the wednesday monologue...she didn't even smile after she said that...she was just solemn about it...I think she's hurting and definitely not head over heels in some new love.

Didn't she say something in today's monologue about how good it makes her feel to come on the show and know that ppl still care about her and that she appreciates it more than they know? That seems to me like she is pretty heartbroken. Poor Ellen. :(
