WTF...?!!? 8O How can you be so sure about what happened at the awards? Just because the media claims that Ellen and Portia had something going on, it doesnīt have to be nesecerely true. I mean, we are not even sure if they are couple yet.
How do you know that Ellen dumped Alex because of Portia? There could have been lot of other reasons for their brake up, weīll never know about(we have to respect that). Oh..and how do you know who broke up with whom?
I donīt even think you are or ever were a true Ellen fan!
For the case you didnīt know and probably you didnīt because you posted such CRAP, this site is a tribute to ELLEN, so why to hell do you come around here and bother us with it ??? Of course you have the right to say whatīs on your mind, but please do yourself and us a favor and tell it someone who might wanna hear it!!!
Canīt believe U are a fan of Anne  OMG I think Iīm having a heartattack.
So, so... you think Ellen brought shame over the the G/L comunity?
I think YOU did that right NOW!!! I feel sooo sorry for ppl like you and I am incradibly ashamed that you call yourself one of US. Alex will definetly do no harm to Ellen, how could such a wonderful person that she is, do it? NO WAY! Not even in you dreams HON!!! Remember that!!! It seems strange to want to response to such nonsense, but I do for some reason.
First and foremost, The Enquirer article. Has anyone ever actually tried to have sex in a porsche?? I mean, I know Ellen is fit, and I imagine Portia is to, but gimme a break! You can barely breathe in a porsche let alone get up to naughty stuff.
Secondly, who cares? I mean, I know we all care for Alex and Ellen and that lots of ppl are sad that they have split up, and I and lots on here seem to be curious (ie nosy!) about what happened, but for god's sake they are fully-formed mature adult human beings trying to live their lives. Who are we to comment? I for one certainly don't think any of us have the right to go about casting stones about other ppl's lives.
Thirdly - Alex should destroy Ellen? Aw give me a break. Whatever has happened is a private matter between consenting adults. Probably if Ellen had run off with a girl guide troop, or advocated racism, or been violent, then maybe we would have the right to get positional about it, but so far as I know none of this has happened, so we should all just let them sort it out in their own way.
Fourthly, everyone has an opinion about what happened. Fine. We're all entitled to that. So iowa doesn't like Ellen. Fine. Maybe Ellen has made a mistake. So what? Everyone does stuff that they may regret. Maybe this is the best thing that ever happened to Ellen. Who knows? I don't actually know anyone involved in the whole thing. Maybe Portia is absolutely the best person for Ellen. Maybe it's something Ellen will live to regret. Who knows? Ellen is an intelligent woman of 46 and surely can sort this out for herself. I don't think she actually needs us to tell her what to do. Nor does Alex.
Fifthly, never, unless she heads off to the Penthouse Suite with a troop of Girl Scouts (see above) will Ellen bring shame to the gay and lesbian community. Seems silly to even have to say it, but there ya go.
Finally, surely iowa has to be banned. For typing in capitals. I mean, really, ever heard of the SHIFT key? Or fully formed sentences? Sheesh.

First of all, I love Ellen to bits, and thought that Ellen and Alex seemed finally stable and happy in their relationship.
I am as sad as everyone that Ellen and Alex have split up. No-one knows what goes on within their four walls. It is their life and not really any concern of anyone else. We are on this board simply because we are Ellen fans and love her as an entertainer. Her private life is really no concern of ours.
As regards the news that is coming out, the media always enlarge the situation to make headlines to sell their magazines. Although there is usually some rumours in these headlines, it is blown way out of proportion for a story.
I have been through a breakup. Unfortunately this is life and we get on with as we see fit.
I don't personally see Portia lasting as I have already said on this board, if Portia can do this to a long term partner and make a play for Ellen, who is to say that she won't do it again when she finds someone else.
I just hope that Ellen has not made a mistake here, as previously said, I thought Alex and Ellen were good together, but in the end it is their lives, not ours.

Does Portia have the Porche or is it Ellen's Porche?
Coz if Portia has the Porche that is just weird and means maybe I should get my own jet just so it would be Jet's jet. Portia's Porche.
If it's Ellen's Porche, could this all be mixed up by someone overhearing Alex shout something like "You love that damn Porche more than me!" and someone else thinking she means 'De Rossi' not 'automobile'?
While I have yet to "christen" any vehicle, I imagine a Porche would be much cosier than even my little Nissan Pulsar, and I don't think I could even do it in my Pulsar, with the seats down and windows open.... I'd like to give it a go though!

Here we go again.
OK. Capital letters are BAD: firstly, they make it look like you are shouting. With spittle flying from your lips. And secondly, it's hard to read and is therefore rude. Capitals should be used at the start of sentences, for proper nouns, occasionally for emphasis and that's it. If you want to be treated seriously, type like a sane person. Really.
Love may or may not be forever. Alex and Ellen in their statement said they still care for each other. Relationships begin and end all the time. It's not the end of the world. Good for you and your relationship. But why judge someone else's relationship? Particularly when you do not know the people involved and have no idea what is going on. None whatsoever.
I don't worship Ellen. I think she is a great comedian. I happen to think that she is a grown woman. She can make her own decisions, and so can Alex.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion. Noone said you weren't. Some questioned why you came on here to make your views known, which is entirely appropriate.
I wasn't aware this was a club. Do I get a badge? Or a beret? Am I missing something? Does the person who mentioned the site to me get a toaster oven? I think I should be told.

ok wow....there are some strong convictions throughout this thread. Iowa61 I'm a little concerned by the following statement:
"WE BOTH FEEL SHE HAS BROUGHT SHAME TO THE GAY/LESBIAN COMMUNITY"
Let's assume that Ellen did get freaky with Portia in a Porsche while they were both in "committed" relationships. Yes, this is wrong and when someone is in a relationship, they should not cheat. But to say that one incident as minor as this brings shame to an entire community?
Let me ask you this, what about the gays and lesbians out there who are hateful to heterolsexuals, or that stereotype all of us as "drug addicted flamboyant club hoping nymphomaniacs" and so on? I can think of several other things that people do that brings shame to the gay/lesbian community, of which an affair that may or may not have occured is not one.
As trixibelle stated, love may or may not be forever. When we are in a relationship, we all hope and feel that it will last forever. But it can happen that one day someone wakes up and realizes they are no longer in love with the person laying next to them. And to judge someone like this with such strong convictions when you know nothing about them other than what the media shows I feel is pretty wrong, but that is your decision to make.
Maguyver
12-26-2004, 05:47 PM
Well put, trixibelle. (I'd like my gift too, please  )
iowa61, in case you were unaware, proper etiquette for the internet is to refrain from using all capital letters unless you want to "shout". Since one cannot hear what is being said, this is the way a shout is communicated. For those of us who are familiar with using the internet to communicate, the appearance of capitals is shouting! 8O
Of course opinions are free to give, and to give back. Remember, it's a two way street...
JetGrrl
12-26-2004, 10:53 PM
FIRST OF ALL,I LIKE CAPITAL LETTERS.I DIDNT THINK THAT WAS AGAINST THE LAW.
Oh, it's not, it's just considered to be shouting and therefore inconsiderate and rude. You probably won't get an awful lot of overly polite replies as your uppercase comments are immediately hard on the eye.
SECOND OF ALL,I DIDNT CLAIM TO BE ONE OF YOU.
Sorry, this is an Ellen fan club, it's a rather automatic assumption.
AND NUMBER THREE,I CANT BELIEVE HOW A PERSON CAN BE SO MUCH IN LOVE WITH SOME ONE THEN ALL THE SUDDEN WANT SOMEBODY ELSE.
That is exactly why I believe there is far more to this story than is being reported. One thing we know now is that their relationship is over so we have to decide whether we are going to accept it and move on, understanding that only they know what really happened, or we can be angry or disappointed or try to say what "must" have happened or how they felt. I know which option I have chosen.
I DONT PLAN ON LEAVING THIS CLUB.
Are you sure you are here for the right reasons?
I HAVE THE RIGHT TO MY OPINION.THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY,I CAN DO OR SAY WHAT I WANT.ALL OF YOU SEEM TO THINK YOU CAN AND YOU DO.KEEP THAT IN MIND NEXT TIME YOU PUT ME DOWN BECAUSE I APEAK MY THOUGHTS.
Freedom comes hand in hand with responsibility. There are repercussions for every action, and just as you are "free" to express your opinion, so is everyone else here "free" to express their opinion about you. If you accept that you are free, you must accept that they are also free. If you say something that other people don't agree with, they have the "freedom" to say so. However while there may be a so-called free country, this is a website and freedom of speech does not apply. People can be and have been banned from time to time who have caused disruption. Maybe you should keep that in mind next time you wish to speak your thoughts.

this is a website and freedom of speech does not apply
Oops, I agree with you on a lot, but this one.....????
Of course feeedom of speech also apply for forums and websites. However, people here are talking about a generally accepted internet etiquette. And they are right. There is a set of rules, although they are being applied by moderators differently all over the web.
I think one should be careful in banning people too quickly. I do consider freedom of speech a great right to defend. And although this is a fansite, people should be able to express their opinion, even if that is not the general opinion of most fans. And even if this opinion is a negative one at times (with emphasis on "at times").
However, freedom of speech comes with a responcibility.
So, I also believe that people who are intentionally and repeatedly impolite, rude and/or abusive to others have no business calling on their right for freedom of speech.
No, iowa, not following the netiquette rules doesn't make you insane. But there's a chance that people might find you impolite. Especially if you want to persist in not following netiquette (but I see that you've done away with your capitals, so that's a start).
When people don't agree with your opinions, they just don't agree with your opinions. That has nothing to do with wanting to attack you personally. And has nothing to do with netiquette rules either. It happens a lot in this (and other) forums that people don't agree with eachothers opinions, but then in the end they agree to dissagree. It seems to me that you yourself have great difficulties accepting that. Seeing how defensive you get when people don't agree with you.
You did ventilate some strong opinions though. And it's only logical you'd get some strong opinions back. That's why this is called a forum. A forum is a place where people discuss things.
People aren't trying to put anybody down for their opinions, nor are they usually feeling better than anybody else in this forum.
But people respond badly to aggressive posts. And I can't blame them. Posters who don't have anything else to say but negative things are not highly appreciated either.
So, like belacb already said: let's move on. Alright?
Try to find your way around here and see if you can have some fun anyway, give your opinions and appreciate those of others.
If you don't like Ellen anymore. Fine. But if that means you only want to post negative stuff here. Not fine. It's simply not functional and not fun.

Ahh, now I find it interesting that you assume we are all adults here. It is widely known that there are quite a number of 15 year olds here on the forum and a good many other teen ages represented. Not that it is an excuse, but it is a fact that should be considered. Just as the teens here are held accountable for their posts (and subsequent apologies) so are you. (Of course us more "mature" members are also held accountable--I just think we take a moment to think about things before posting and so therefore have less to apologize for in the long run)
People don't agree with each others opinions, but then in the end they agree to dissagree. It seems to me that you yourself have great difficulties accepting that. Seeing how defensive you get when people don't agree with you.

I can't agree more with mafamba. I believe that in this form of media ( internet forums), it puts us on the same level of play and we need to learn and grow from the experience. Respect for others goes a long way. I'm sure (hope??) you've noticed some of us handled this situation with you with respect and tried to help you. Just remember that as you wander through the forum and post your opinion. Enjoy the experience, it can be a positive and fulfilling one! :D
P.S. To throw out that you were ran over and left for dead and have siezures about three times a day is of no consequence as to how you represent yourself. I noticed now you've got some sympathy posts coming your way. I hope it makes you feel better.
