In case you have any doubt who'll be playing the "dude" at this ceremony, a so-called "source" says, quote, "Portia will wear a long Oscar night-type dress and Ellen will wear an elegant, custom-made white suit."

Talk show queen Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi are reportedly ready to say "I do."

The National Enquirer (I dont believe them)says the Hollywood pair plan to wed this summer.


DeGeneres seems to us a lesbian Ben Affleck, too distractible for marriage, but hey, why should she hold back, considering the turnover in the straight world? Gay marriage isn't quite legal in California, so the couple will not be showing up at a courthouse for an official blessing. Who needs it, anyway?

By the way, Tom has been married, what, twice before and Katie has been engaged before. Come on people give them the benafit of the doubt. I, for one, will be extrememly happy if them if it is true.

Well, I don't think it is so much to do w/ a lack of belief in them, as a couple, but rather
the news sources quoted. It is a well known fact that neither the Star, nor the Enquirer
are known for their high degree of accuracy in reporting.

If a respected news source were to come forward w/ their own story of this (& not simply
quote the rag mags, as some already have in their own recaps), then I'm sure that many
here would be accepting of the impending event.

The comment wasn't about people on this board's lack of believe in the couple. The "people" I was referring to was the newspaper and other places this story was written at. The article makes it seem as if their decision to committ is ridiculous when entertainment reporters are showing their excitement about Tom and Katie, who have known each other a lot less time and are even further apart in age. See my point. My comment wasn't ment to attack the posters on this board. Sorry if you saw it that way.

Clarification is always good, particualrly when a post like this comes after a few
here (on this thread, not counting others posted since yesterday) said that they
were on the fence w/ belief in the news.

I wouldn't exactly believe the tabloids, but there is usually some truth in rumours.

However, there was talk I believe last year if I am not mistaken of Ellen and Alex going to get married in San Francisco after a 3 1/2 year relationship. Gay marriages were not recognised when Ellen was with Anne for 3 1/2 years, and were not recognised in the US last year when that came out about Ellen and Alex.

After 8/9 months, I personally think Ellen is jumping into this way too fast, but in the end it is Ellen's choice and like a lot of people on this board, I would just like to see Ellen happy, which she appears to be at the present time.

She will work this out for herself.

I don't know if all these rumors of weddings and babies are true or not, I always find it funny how it is info from a "close friend", Ellen and Portia both seem like they have a pretty tight circle, I don't think anyone in their inner circle would be talking to the Enquirer.
As far as them moving fast, i don't think it is out of the ordinary, people fall in love and things progress quickly all the time. and you know the old joke about gay relationships:

a u-haul (that's a moving truck for all who don't know)

I am guilty of that one, my girlfriend moved in with me like a month after we started going out and we will be together 4 years in August.

I find it hard to believe the National Enquirer about this whole marriage thing. Ellen herself has stated that she has no desire to get married or have children but then again maybe since she has met Portia her views have changed. Like everyone I only wish her the best but I do think she is moving quite fast.

I think its great if they do get maried. I think it sounds like they really are in love,and when you find that special person you should hold onto it. I hope to someday find that special person.

I got to see them in concert this summer past. It was good. He plays at The Gorge in central Oregon every year.

What part of Oregon is that? I was out in Oregon last month for a week, in Grants Pass and that area.

Brain fart. It is in the opposite direction. It is in Washington, out near Yakima. All I know is it is a very very long drive from Portland. And I tried driving back that same night. Only made it about half way and pulled into a motel. Thing is, it was a long weekend and all we could get was some discuting little dive in which we got the very last room. Better then falling asleep at the wheel though.

That being said, it is an unbelievable spot to watch an outdoor concert.

NO..i am a HUGE fan of Dave Matthews!! Seen him about 11 times over the past 7 years....have a tattoo of the firedancer on my back, own about 60-70 CDs from him, about 25 T-shirts, every magazine hes ever been in, an apartment thats a shrine to him, anything that has DMB on it...I own!! Me and Auggie LOVE So Right!! And grey street...superb!! I couldnt even pick a favorite, because they are all so awesome!! GOD SPEED DAVE MATTHEWS...GOD SPEED!!!!!!
