Hi all!

I have a question actually, about Portia. I know she is from Australia, but does she originally have an Australian accent? I assumed she would, but on Arrested Development, she has an American accent. Arrested Development is actually the only thing I have seen her in, so I don't know. I was just wondering. If anyone would please let me know, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Portia originally has an accent, but she got rid of it. There are certain words that she says that you can still hear it though. If you watch her first movie Sirens, she has her Australian accent.

this is probably old news for you guys but i heard portia's name is actually Amanda Lee Rodgers and she changed it to portia de rossi when she was fifteen

Yeah, it is, BUT I'm sure that there are newbies here who've never heard this before

Yeah, I can still pick it with her too, the one I was totally surprised by was Charlize Theron, how her South African accent disappeared completely. Apparently when she first moved to Hollywood, she lived with the Tv on and practiced her 'American' ... both are better than Lucy Lawless (Xena) and her fake American accent - it gets on my nerves so bad! I had to resort to watching Xena with the sound turned off.... ;) :biggrin:

Where is she originally from? I've never watched Xena, so I've no clue
as to what she sounds like...

She's a true blue kiwi, mate, just like me! Which is probably why I can pick it... my mother even rented a house from her uncle, once upon a time. Xena was all filmed in West Auckland - my cousin worked on the set, which reminds me, I should scan some of the photos of my visit on set for the Xena fans here...
