If you like raw & edgy, she's fantastic! :) Go ahead & give her a try, you'll probably like her style. She's had several hits out there (not the least of which being, "Come to my Window") over the past few years.

I love Melissa Etheridge!! She writes great music.

There's a group called T.A.T.U. that are really cool but they sound nothing like the Indigo Girls..lol Their music has a dance vib to it. They are famous for their song " All the things she said" :D

I heard that T.A.T.U. were only contract lesbians and that actually one of them was pregnant. I heard that from somewhere but can't remember if it was a reliable source or not. :?

Yeah, i heard that too. Hmm...i don't have anything against them, but i think it's sad that they would use something like that to gain popularity. I heard their manager put them up to it. SNL actually did a skit a while back about it with Lindsay Lohan. It was pretty funny.

I think Catie Curtis is great, or Melissa Ferrick. Have you heard Girlyman? They´re incradible, I´m tellin´ya. Oh and lets not forget the beautiful Sarah Bettens

yes that's true. Their manager, Ivan Shapovalov, wanted to create a shocking image for them and that was that they were openly lesbian and that kissed on stage during every concert. After a while, they got bored faking it and dumped their manager and more or less split up. Lena (the red head) has got a boyfriend since the beginning of t.A.T.u and Yulia (dark hair) recently gave birth to a baby boy I believe.

Melissa Etheridge? You should DEFINITELY listen to hear. She is so amazing!! She's a wonderful artist and person. I admire her deeply.

K's choice is also very good; they're pretty similar to the Indigo Girls.

Some other artists I'd recommend:

Beth Hart- she's rougher than the Indigo Girls, but really good
Feist
Tegan & Sara
Frou Frou
Jewel has got some good songs as well (e.g. Foolish games)
Meredith Brooks maybe- maybe you know her from her hitsingle '*****'
perhaps you'll like Oasis-try to find Wonderfall, a fantastic song
Sarah Harmer
Catie Curtis
Herbert Grönemann's Und wenn ein Lied is very beautiful, al though it's sung in German (nothing wrong with German, just hard to understand for some of you)
Train
Wynonna
John Mayer is pretty good as well

Good luck with your search!

I've never heard of most of these people, but I'm new to this culture, so forgive me...

Girlyman is really nice to listen to. I saw them open for the Indigo Girls in Novemberand have their CD "Remember Who I Am". They are a young group but really talented!! Great harmony and intrument talent. Check out their website, I think it's girlyman.com. The songwriting by them doesn't have a theme(and therefore interesting) because they all write their own songs and then record together. It's a nice mix.

I like listening to the Indigo Girls but I'm not very political, so a few of their songs I don't care for, but most of them are great. They have a whole bunch of albums out. I have the latest, "All That We Let In", but if you haven't heard them before I suggest starting off with "Indigo Girls Retrospective" it's a kind of greatest hits album put out in 2000. It includes the famous "Closer to Fine " song.
