Looking for some understanding

I just signed up for this site yesterday and I've been looking around and I like it a lot. Here's the thing I really want to talk about though, I've been struggling with my sexuality. Deep down I think I know I'm a lesbian, but I don't want to admit it b/c it goes against everything my family and friends believe in. I just need someone who understands me, someone who I can talk to about this and hopefully get some answers. So if any of you would be willing to give me some advice as to what I should do....I would love to hear it. Thanks for the help!

i think that many people here are in a similar situation which means that there're lots of people who understand what you're going through and you can talk to.

hmmm..., answers. there're no answers. even if people are in similar situations, it's not completely the same. you know what i'm trying to tell you? i think first of all you should try to find out what you really want without thinking about your family's/friends' beliefs...just what YOU want.

I can tell you that i said i was a lesbian around 13 years old (though i knew it before that)...and now i have a girlfriend of 3 years old.... I decided to came out even if no one around could understand me because i wanted to be ME!.... And it made a big change for everybody... friends started to say "omg, me too!". I have priests in my family and they all seem to accept me... So you never know what will happen, friendship could help, time could help. Good and bad things. . but stay YOU, be YOU, and make sure you know who you are before doing such a big step ! (god i wish people could talk french here it would be easier to me for advices and not making typo mistakes... sorry :cry: )

im glad youve joined this site. there are many people who go through what you are going thought. so your not alone. a lot of us has been in this situtation. my advice is to be you. just who you are...you will feel so much relief if your just true. just follow what you really want to do.

WoW guys, thanks for all the help and advice! :)

It means so much to be able to talk to people who know how I feel and can relate. I choose this site b/c for one, I love Ellen Degeneres and two, it's a great site!

You want to know more about me so....I'll tell you! I am 18, a freshman in college, and I live in the U.S. I love watching Ellen, hanging out w/ my friends, and making movies. I'm majoring in communications to hopefully help w/ tv production someday so making movies is second hand for me. Basically I like just hanging out and having a good time and I'm glad I've met some new people on here to do that with.

As for the realization of me being gay. I think I've known it for several years now, but have tried to ignore it. I guess I didn't want it to be true. Things just kept happening over and over these past few years making me realize who I really am. I dated a guy for a few years, but it hit me when I wanted to hang out w/ my friends that were girls more than I did my boyfriend that something was up. I have a stronger pull or desire if you will to girls than guys. That's not the only thing that has made me realize who I am....just a tid bit of it.
