To those who think they look very much alike it looks like they are more alike then we think. This was in the Woman's day magazine:
Woman's Day:
Ellen DeGeneres,47, and Portia de Rossi, 32
"I needed a Bex and a lie down after working through this week's Star Gazing! I found all of Ellen's partner choices rather unsettling - almost creepy.
Imagine Ellen cuddling up to Keanu Reeves in Speed. Ellen was chosen to play the female lead but declined the role. Her lovelife is almost as strange as her playing Keanu's lover - not because she's gay; it has nothing to do with that.
Ellen's a deep-thinking multi-layered Aquarian. her split with Anne Heche after three-and-a-half years together was no surprise. Anne was on an adventure instead of simply being in love with Ellen, so Ellen had her heart broken.
She then sought happiness with photographer-actor Alexandra Hedison. That relationship was doomed because major aspects of Alexandra's spiritual profile are exactly the same as Anne's. Ellen didn't move on, she moved sideways - same problems, different person. She and Alexandra split in 2004.
Now Ellen is with Portia de Rossi, and it all gets weird. Firstly, Portia's profile is similar to Anne and Alexandra's, so more side-stepping.
Portia, like Ellen, is an Aquarian. Their spiritual profiles are so similar it's like Ellen's having a relationship with a younger version of herself, while Portia's going out with an older version of herself. There are shades of oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray going on here. Not to mention both their surnames contain "de".
I have no doubt that Ellen and Portia feel safe and comfortable with each other - because they are each other.
This is not true love but deep friendship. If Ellen and Portia seek lasting love, they need to find someone with characteristics opposite to their own.
Are they soul mates?
I wish it were true, but no!"
