Good movie- saw it for the first time tonight on Lifetime. Only thing that sucks though if having to hide the fact that I'm watching it... I'm not out yet, and I feel like if my mom or my sister will catch me watching something like that (so obviously gay-related) that they will suspect something. probobly not, but I'm paranoid. Anyway, I watched it downstairs, but several times family members came into the room so I had to quickly pretend that I was simply channel-surfing... Arrgh!

A girl (Jane) discovers that she's falling in love with a new girl at her school. Finally she decides that it isn't just a phase and she is a lesbian, but basically the movie is her mother not accepting her, even though before she came out they had a loving relationship.

I think I need to see this movie. She is cute, but I can feel my hackles rising when I see her pic because in "A Girl Thing" she played Elle McPherson's homophobic friend...

Everyone's great in this movie, except maybe the mother, who gets even me frustrated... Since I'm only 16, I really like the girl who plays Jane...

hahahaha i thought i was the only one who did that!!
i mean you kinda feel guilty on the moment, then you get mad cauz they seem to keep coming every five minute.. but then after a while i usually laugh at myself cauz i assumed things that maybe other people did not even think about!!
i mean often we assume that people will see what we don't want them to see just because we see it and are aware of it in our own head.
anyway, your story made me smile :)
and thanks for the tip a/b the movie, i'll try to find it

I remember that movie!! It was a great one. But when i first watched it, my mom was like " Get that off of there" I was like maybe 13 at the time when it came on.
Now when i find out it's on, i just go to my bedroom and watch it..
Yeah I saw it...and taped it! I know what you mean puppdog. I'm 16 too and didn't want my mom to know I was watching it. I put it on mute every time she walked in or changed the channel! I loved it but I thought that was sad when Taylor dumped her and cool when Jane's teacher ended up gay too. I liked it! :D :)

I'm glad you liked it like I did. That was a good idea- I should have taped it too... oh well...Seeing all those who watched this movie or others like it, I'm glad I'm not the only one who does the whole "channel surfing" thing. I mean, I feel guilty watching it just in case anyone thinks anything. Yet I also feel guilty towards the entire gay and lesbian community. I feel guilty that I am ashamed to admit to my family that I like these shows and movies, and I like girls.

geez, i'm 33 and i still do that when something is on tv like that and i'm at my parent's house or even at my own home. i find myself 'gayproofing' my entire house for fear that my mom will snoop. It's kind of funny and kind of sad all at the same time. I came out to my parents when i was 15 and they didn't take it very well at all. My response was to go back in to the closet (sort-of). what's worse is that i have been in a relationship for almost 9 years and i can't share that with them. i'm such a wimp. :(

Is that the movie where Stoackard Channing plays the girl's mother?
Interesting if it is because The Matthew Shepherd Story was on Lifetime Movie Network last night and I was watching it...and Stackard plays his mother in that movie too!! Sad, sad, sad movie!! :(

Yeah, I'm with you on that, I was a bit paranoid that someone was writing about me (& forgot the "y"). Phewwwwww.
If there's one thing about having your name written up, it should at least be spelt right. :p

I bought it cheap and randomly on VHS at a gay bookstore years ago, they were trying to get rid of all their VHS and switch over to DVDs. I was very pleasantly surprised, though, and definitely wouldn't mind owning it on DVD, it's sad that it's not easily available.
I do, however, hold a bit of a grudge, because entirely thanks to the awesome Ms. Walcott I proceeded to suffer through two entire seasons of The O.C., just to see Kelly Rowan. Erg.
Trivia: About 15 years before The Truth About Jane, Kelly Rowan was in a film called The Truth About Alex about a teenaged boy who realizes that he's gay.
