How to download videos from youtube

There are a few ways to get youtube videos on your computer.

For firefox users:

You can download the firefox video downloader here
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/

VideoDownloader add a small icon on the status bar at the bottom of your firefox window, and a toolbar button. Just click that and download the video you are watching !

To watch the video you will need a flash player.

To convert the video into avi or mov format, you can download a tool called: SUPER

A really simple website to download all the videos from Youtube, directly to your computer. Just type in the video's URL. You don't even need any Firefox add-on or follow complicated manual steps.

hmm, I just tried both sites:
- keepvid: i can´t play the downloaded you tube clip, because i need some kind of player, which i´m to stupid to download :-(
- javimoya: doesen´t work (anymore?)

can someone help?? is there a foolproof way to download the clips ? ? ?

i still have one more problem, though :roll: the video and the audio doesn`t match...the video is always a few seconds before the audio ...any ideas? help pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease :)

Ok...I tried to follow your desciption how to download a video fom youtube. I´m just very impatient and don´t have a lot of time at the moment (because I have to do a fu**ing annoying seminar paper for university!! I hate it! :angry: )
The thing is that I just want to have the youtube clip of Ellen dancing on my computer.

it´s not syncronous, because the video is faster than the music :-(

well with vixy, i'll converted the file to wmv, downloaded the file, and then opened it, and a box comes up saying "windows media player cannot play the file" and im just not sure how to use super.

3 steps

1. choose the right format (wmv)

Well I think you converted the video to AVI, and if you don't have the right codec, you can't play it, do you use Windows XP right? You can download this codec pack : DOWNLOAD XP CODEC PACK 2.0.7.1. (http://www.xpcodecpack.com/) I hope it helps you :)

simpliest way is to copy the biggest tmp. files from the folder with temporary files it should be somewhere in the folder of the brouser you use. and change the ".tmp" to ".flv" but you need the prog to watch the flv files :) AFTER YOU HAVE WATCHED THE VIDEO IN YOUTUBE, DON'T CLOSE THE BROUSER OR THE .TMP FILES WILL DISAPPEAR ! :)
