I found this interview with Ellen on NPR from 2002:
http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/Heights/4333/
(click on "audio mix")
Does anyone know how to save files in this media format, or better yet convert them to mp3? All I can manage to do is save the link as a .smil-file, not the actual content. An ideas?

I don't know a converter for this file but you could record the interview with No23 Recorder or Audacity

woohoo, got it! Thanks for the lead to the excellent audacity gizmo (what a befitting name, btw, seeing as how I can now shamelessly record whatever I want). And it even told me how to convert to mp3. I like it :)
If anyone wants the file, I could try to further expand my tech skills and upload it (gasp)

Got around to uploading some more audio files today - enjoy! I put these on my mp3 player and they entertained me on a long and boring flight.
