There's nothing in the actual quote that implies she blames Julie... it could just be the spin some reporter put on it...

Gah. Yahoo is obviously against me. It flat-out refuses to play Melissa Etheridge at all. Everything else I try works great, except Melissa, no matter which way I go about it. Grrrrr... Suggestions, anyone? Is it available anywhere other than Yahoo?

Do you have any software that blocks or restricts flash?

I have a program on my system that defaults to not playing flash unless I tell it to allow flash from a given site, otherwise I can manually play them. The Yahoo site above took exception to that and reported an error until I allowed flash for the site and let the page load normally.

It turns out this is what was wrong when I was trying to play the original link. :oops:

Flash isn't the problem. I can play videos on Yahoo, I can play every other artist that I've tried except Melissa. I hung around there for a while watching Dido, and Indigo Girls, and a bunch of other stuff, but every time I tried to add any Melissa song to the play list it would just go black for a few seconds and then jump to the next song, alternatively refuse to find it in the playlist at all. Weirdest thing.

I have the same problem as zoeak, I can play other videos but not Melissa's. I have even cleared the cache, deleted all the cookies, but it's still not working. I was thinking that it might be because I go online from outside the U.S., or because I haven't signed up for Yahoo!Music. I was just over at the M.E.I.N. message board, and it seems that in fact the video won't play when you're trying to play it from outside the U.S. But someone there posted the link the Yahoo! I guess sometime yesterday or the day before (time zones I may be a bit off) Melissa was part of a panel asking Democratic canidates questions on Gay rights. How I discovered this was on MSN website with the title Lesbian rocker asks questions. The igonorance of the writer / editor is obvious and pissed me off. Why in the world could the title simply not have been Melissa Etheridge rocker or something to the affect. When straight people ask questions writers do not state Straight rocker asks...

Needless to say I am proud of Melissa for putting her name out there to be a political activist on our part. Obviously Gays, Lebians, Bi-Sexual, Cross Genders, and Trans Sexuals have a long road ahead. I just want to give a shout out to Melissa, Ellen and Rosie and other famous or not famous people who are trying to make a differece.

Melissa is truly awesome! I've seen just a few clips from the panel, and she's so smart, yet accessible, and goes straight to the point (like always). I know she went on Ellen's talkshow once, and apparently didn't really wanna come back (because they're friends, and it felt weird talking on television), but with her new album coming out this fall it would be so great if she could at least go on the show and play a song, or so!

And yeah, that's a *terrible* headline. I came across an old one just half an hour ago; 'Ellen DeGeneres and her gay lover in car crash'. Argh!

That was the word in the gossip magazines. As far as I know it was never reported from any more reliable source... which doesn't mean it wasn't true, of course.

And it had been since March since they said they were going to do it, so you kind of forget that people are fighting every day for this. So yesterday my wife said, "Tomorrow they are going to come down with it." So I turned the news on this morning and they said any minute we are supposed to hear this, and so I have been listening. But then I dropped the kids off at school and I did a couple of errands and when I came home I said, "Honey, have you heard anything?" She went back and got on her computer and five minutes later she came back and said, "Whoo! We are married!" [laughs]


So I assume you are planning on getting legally married now?
Well, we had a wedding in 2003, and then we got the domestic partnership after that, so now my wife and I have to sit down and think, what will the formal thing be that we do? I don't know if we want to do the whole full-on thing again because we did do that, and that was our ceremony to ourselves. But I think this calls for a party.


Most important, what do you think this means for your kids?
You know that's the thing. I was just talking to someone about this, and I get all choked up about this because I think that the part that people who don't really understand this issue don't realize is that we are people with jobs and families. We have kids. And there have been years and years of explaining to them. I remember when it was on Schwarzenegger's desk and we were like "Oh, if he signs it, we may be able to get married." And then he vetoed it, and we were like, "Oh, mean governor!" So they have gone through this with us, and I can't wait to pick them up from school today and say, "Hey, your parents are just as married as anybody else's." That's a big thing. It's going to be a good day.

I gotta say though, they don't appear to have done much research. Tammy changed her name to Tammy Lynn Etheridge back when they got married in 2003, which of course wasn't a wedding in the eyes of the law... Great for them that they're getting married. The girl in the picture isn't Tammy, though. I have no idea who that is.

I've seen Melissa in concert 7 times both in the U.S. and Germany, the last time was in 2004 here in Germany. It was only a few months before she discovered that she had cancer, and since then, she hasn't come back to Europe on a concert tour. I know she likes to stay close to her family, but I really wish that she'd tour Europe again. Seeing her perform live is such a great experience, and I miss her.
