Just thought there should be a discussion on America's (second) most famous lesbian...
Especially since I've just seen that unbelievably rude and deflamatory comment they made on fox "news". (look for it on youtube).

Rosie makes "The View" much better! She has done a lot for gay rights and is a fantastic role model for her long & happy relationship with partner Kelly & their 4 children.

Hmm...looks to me that Rosie got nasty first...that comment she made about Greta was totally uncalled for. I used to like Rosie...but lately she seems like she is attacking everyone, and then crying when they fight back. I cant support that type of behavior, and being a lesbian has nothing to do with any of this.

I've always disliked Rosie but for once, I might be on her side.
I don't want to start getting political or anything around here, but Fox news is about as bad as it gets. I mean, in my opinion, they're big Bush supporting liars, and to me, that can't be right. I'm actually happy that Rosie isn't scared about getting controversial and doesn't hesitate to say these things. About Greta, she was just joking around, there's nothing wrong with that.
Besides, I just hate the way Fox took it so seriously and felt obligated to fire back. To me, it just shows that they realise that there's a part of truth in what she's saying. If they felt confident of their credibility, they wouldn't have felt the need to react that way.
It's like they can't let people form opinions of their own. Shouldn't it be our choice to decide wether we want to watch Fox or support Rosie ? Instead, they need to invite some kind of so called "expert" (who was that guy anyway ???) to make him ramble on about Rosie being depressed. I mean, seriously, what does he know ?

i used to love Rosie! i was always the one to stick up for her. but, ever since she joined the view i haven't been very happy with the way she's carried herself in the news. she's hurting her career (in my opinion).

however, what fox said about her was just as bad. i would be horribly upset if someone called me that.

so i guess at this point i'm somewhat neutral

I love that Rosie feels free to give her opinions. At her least, she demonstrates what people strive to be daily - courageous and honest. I'm no big Rosie supporter but I admire her putting herself on the line and not apologizing for it.

Politics has everything to do with it when it comes to Rosie. She can't understand there is more than one point of view in the world. If she wants to be able to say whatever she wants, then whoever she is saying it about has a right to say what they want back. If you watch the whole thing, it was in fact Fox news she was ranting about (they didn't just jump in out of nowhere). She just threw in the cheap shot about Greta for a laugh.

Rosie has become the bitter, angry joke with no credibility.

I love Rosie I really do, and I get sick of standing up for her to my friends and family, but honestly I'm getting sick of her. She is attacking everyone around her. Nobody on the view can open their mouth without Rosie flipping out and causing a fight. I do agree with her on most things she says and what she believes in but at the same time she needs to relax a little bit!

I was once a fan of Rosie's when she did stand up and had her own talk show. Seems after she came out and the show ended that she became a hateful person and just runs her mouth without thinking. I still think she is a good comedian but i'm sick of her using all her airtime to just attack people and bully. She's obviously unhappy. But, maybe her latest lashings are because she's taking control of the media by attacking them before they attack her. It's safe to say that she has taken her fair share of criticism for many things before she ever was on "the View" and without merit. I commend her for speaking her mind, but she acts as if everyone is her enemy. She needs Prozac or something.

Rosie has quit "The View"...wonder if she will be attending this years Daytime Emmys

She sent out a statement a few minutes ago...
"This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn't have traded for the world. Working with Barbara, Joy and Elisabeth has been one of the highlights of my career, but my needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me. To all the viewers out there, I just want to say 'thank you' for opening up your hearts and your homes to me this past year. But you can always find me at rosie.com. Here's hoping there's more confetti for all of us going forward."

i dont really know what to think about her leaving. in a way, no offense to anyone, im kinda glad. i love her, but i was getting really tired of turning on the news and hearing "...and rosie said...." i thought it was entertaining at first. but it got kinda exhausting how she would get involved in issues that didnt have anything to do with her. other than that, i thought she did a great job as a co-host. she was very funny, and had good questions for the guests.

it was leaked to the media yesterday and she blogged about it this morning, I'm sad to see her go. I love Rosie. I'll certainly miss her. I haven't missed a show since she started. I'm sure we'll still see her around. The View certainly will miss her - she certainly made it more entertaining in the time she's been on it, but I do feel she's become way too political & aggressive with her opinions. I hope she gets her game show. She might chill out a bit more & go back to using her comedic talents instead of the viper tongue we've seen too much of lately. :)

rosie has some long term nonsense with ellen, cause of stuff that ellen said when she was on larry king right before her talk show aired..

larry king asked ellen if she was going to be like rosie, loud and outspoken or something, and ellen said that she wasn't really friends with rosie and wasn't going to be like that.. if you search on cnn.com you can find the transcripts somewhere

rosie took it personally

rosie always has nice things to say about ellen, but at the time, her feelings were for sure hurt

i know it's random that i know this, but i have been reading her blog since the start, and before she got super famous, she talked about this a bunch of times..

Same here Moefish. I gathered from what Rosie has said in response to people on her "ask Ro" blog that she was upset b/c Ellen said on Larry King she "didn't know Rosie all that well"...when in fact they (Ellen, Rosie, Melissa Etheridge, KD Lang) used to hang out and were good friends years ago.

KING: Did you guest on O'Donnell -- Rosie O'Donnell Show?

DEGENERES: Yes, I've been on Rosie's show a few times.

KING: What do you think happened there?

DEGENERES: I don't know. You know, maybe she didn't -- I don't really know Rosie that well. I mean, I've spoken to her, but we're not really friends. We don't, like -- so I don't really know and I couldn't say what her...

yet another mention of Ellen on Rosie O'donnell's latest movie blog:

http://www.rosie.com/blog/wp-content/themes/rosie2/fs2.php?vid=2007-05-01-pizza.flv

About 1/2 way in Rosie addresses the question whether she and E are friends:

I have an awesome idea. After hearing in Rosie's blog that a lot of people were asking if she and Ellen were friends I immediately thought "it was everybody from the Ellen forum!! " So If everyone on here could get together and ask Rosie the same questions about Ellen she would have so many from different people she'd have to answer, right??

So anyone reading this, could you ask this question if you have time please? ( www.rosie.com ) : (but put it in your own words)

What was Portia de Rossi like when you met her? Was she reserved and let Ellen do most of the talking, or was she outgoing and funny?

hugefan_777

If you guys watch rosie's video blog today (on her blog website), someone asks a question about why rosie always talks about being gay and ellen never does, and rosie answered that ellen signed a contract that she wouldn't talk about being gay on her show. did you all know about this? you can watch it, she answers it midway through the blog for may 10th.

I just watched it! One how the hell does Rosie know if Ellen signed a contract saying she can't talk about it, when she herself said that they aren't friends and they dont talk. Two Ellen does talk about it, she mentions Portia a lot now. Its just that she doesnt mention it every 2minutes like Rosie does. We all know shes gay, so we don't need to hear her say it all the time..even though its nice to hear about Portia. Ellen herself has said that she doesn't want to be known as the "gay talk-show host" but just as a "talkshow host"

josieand1
05-10-2007, 03:38 PM

but if in Ellens contract said she can't talk about being gay, than why would she talk about Portia on the show, and even talk about it with Oprah and other guests that she had on that were apart of The Puppy Episode..and all her one liner gay jokes? Ellen does not act like there is any restriction.

She certainly does not hide her sexual orientation.

To me, she acts like someone that simply likes to maintain a certain amount of a privacy. There are plenty of celebrities that choose to not talk a lot about their families or people that they are dating. I certainly can understand her wanting some privacy and I think she deserves to have it.

Maybe the contract thing is about being more subtle about her sexuality or more discreet and not making it a focus on her show. Rosie discusses her sexuality constantly maybe that is what she meant. Who knows...the only person who really knows is Ellen and whoever her contract is with.

I think that Ellen and Rosie both have had an impact. There is no reason to "hate" on someone else. Yes,she can be too much at times, but at the end of the day you are doing the same thing that straight arrowed people do to the gay community. Which is hate and animosity. I am sure Ellen has let things be because that is the type of person she seems to be. I am not a fanstic,so I am not going to act like I know her. Rosie dislikes Bush and I can't hate anyone who feels that way.

Evidently he wasn't on enough people's list because he was still re-elected and I used the apostrophes with hate becasue it is slang in the Afro American community. I don't use it as it is defined. It is another way of saying that somebody is not giving credit they deserve or to be jealous Straight arrowed does not deal with sexual orientation. It deals with someone's moral or other views. Maybe I should have went with a smaller word take for instance goodey two shoes or somebody who is conservative. Are you an adult? I was just wondering becasue I am at the collegiate age,so maybe our terms or way of talking is different.

i just heard on the radio that Rosie was fired from the view affective immediatly. I immediately "googled" her

So I found the following article on this link:
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/05/25/arts/NA-A-E-TV-US-The-View-ODonnell.php

Rosie O'Donnell has fought her last fight at 'The View.' ABC said Friday she will not be back on the television talk show following her angry confrontation with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday.

It ended a colorful eight-month tenure for O'Donnell that lifted the show's ratings but no doubt caused heartburn for show creator Barbara Walters. O'Donnell feuded with Donald Trump and frequently had tense exchanges with the more conservative Hasselbeck.

O'Donnell said last month she would be leaving because she could not agree to a new contract with ABC executives.

"Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View,'" Walters said. "I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In a statement, O'Donnell said that "it's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

No one was feeling the love on Wednesday, when the argument with Hasselbeck began over O'Donnell's statement last week about the war: "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Talk show critics accused O'Donnell of calling U.S. troops terrorists. She called Hasselbeck "cowardly" for not saying anything in response to the critics.

"Do not call me a coward, because No. 1, I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people what I believe," Hasselbeck retorted, and their riveting exchange continued despite failed attempts by their co-hosts to cut to a commercial.

According to a New York Post report, O'Donnell's chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly led out of the building on Wednesday after she was caught drawing mustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck in "The View" studios. ABC executives did not return repeated calls for questions on the incident Friday.

On Thursday, O'Donnell had asked for a day off to celebrate her partner's birthday. "The View" aired a taped show on Friday.

On her Web site, O'Donnell posted a scrapbooklike video on Friday with pictures and news clippings of her tenure at "The View." Cyndi Lauper's "Sisters of Babylon" played in the background.

A day earlier, she had posted messages on her Web site indicating she might not be back.

"When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done," she wrote. "Any more would take away."

I was watching the show when the argument broke out and it got ugly. I have always supported rosie even though I do not agree with everything she says or how she says it. On this one though, I think rosie got mad with reason. Elizabeth did cop out when Rosie was being critisised by the media. She didn't defend Rosie in any way and that made Rosie mad. Rosie has always said that eventhough she and Elizabeth haven't seen eye to eye on things she will always support her, but elizabeth didn't at all.
I don't think rosie was fired though. I read an article that said that she asked for early release. I believe she walked and not that she was asked to leave.
Anyway, she is out and that makes it official for me. I will never watch the view again. Well maybe for Joy. i like her.

No offense to Rosie lovers, I USED to be one. But she just likes to pick fights with the only Republican on The View, which is fine, but she just went too far. She needs to get that job on The Price Is Right, which is what she wants anyway. I'm glad she left The View. Replace her with Megan Mullally.

Just sayin'

Rosie O'Donnell's Replacement On 'The View'
By Gia Cortina
May 31, 2007

Rosie O'Donnell and 'The View' Update - Rosie O'Donnell is gone and now 'The View' has the task of finding someone to replace Rosie, that can keep the ratings up.

O'Donnell chose to leave 'The View' earlier than expected, after her on-air feud with co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, last week.

Whatever you may think of Rosie, ABC has its work cut out for it when trying to replace someone who has brought so much controversy and stimulation to 'The View'. Although some may think that ABC will breathe a little easier, dealing with less controversy, the fact remains that controversy fuels ratings...and there has been no one better than Rosie for that.

Already there is a line-up of ladies coming forward to meet the challenge, which include...Roseanne Barr, Whoopi Goldberg and Bette Midler, as front-runners.

Other names that have been mentioned include former talk-show hosts Megan Mullally and Ricki Lake, comedians Kathy Griffin and Wanda Sykes, Oprah's best friend Gale King, and actress Sherri Shepherd.

The Associated Press mentions others who should get a look, including Marie Osmond, Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Ripa and Mo'Nique. My favorite however, is Harvey Levin of TMZ's choice - Alec Baldwin, saying that Baldwin is the male version of Rosie...funny and caustic!

So, can O'Donnell be replaced successfully? Barbara Walters, the show's creator thinks so, saying on Tuesday's 'View', "We've been a hot show for 10 years...and we'll be a hot show for many years."

A replacement will be sought over the summer and is expected to take the stage in September.

What did Ellen say about Rosie at the Emmy's. I missed out.

This is my best attempt at a transcript, after thanking the fans and her producers...

"...This is amazing, this is, you know, I...I really am I am shocked, I don't know if you watched the view this year I watched and I thought that Rosie brought a lot of new viewers to daytime television and it was interesting and you talked about important things and I think it was great and what you do is fantastic and I've learned that people like to be topical and like controversy and so what I'm going to do is next year is start being a lot more controversial and topical and because the hot topics things works, so I'm thinking of doing something called hot pockets I want to do an integration if your watching hot pockets they're delicious and hot, and I just want to start with something controversial right now to kick it off and I know this might not be popular and I don't care cause that is what I am doing I just want to say it, I think Bob Barker is a quitter. Thank-you very much."

They cut to a shot of Bob Barker laughing after that...
