Ellen in a relationship during the earlier seasons of Ellen?

I've been watching my Ellen 2nd Season DVD and I noticed that she wears a ring on her left ring finger in every episode so I was wondering if she was in a relationship during the first couple of seasons... come to think of it, I actually think that she was because she's always in relationships and in her interview with Allure magazine in 2005 she said "Before I was with Anne I was with someone for four years, and before that I was with someone for six years"

Since she was closested during those seasons isnt it kind of weird that she's wearing a ring? Hmm this is confusing.

So anyways does anyone have any info about it?
I've never really heard anything about it if she did and never thought about it until I noticed the ring.

I would guess that the ring is an Ellen Morgan prop piece, and not necessarily of significance to Ellen DeGeneres, but I could be wrong. Yeah I used to think the rings were just props but then I noticed that in like the 4th episode of the 5th seasons ellen started wearing a ring on her left finger (when she got with Anne) and then I saw an interview ellen did about adding another ring and she also wore the 2 rings on the end episodes of the sitcom.

Huh. Interesting about the rings. I gotta re-watch some eps and pay more attention to them... I just assumed they were props, very cool if they're not.

Yeah I love how Ellen wore her rings during the taping... but then I thought, why does she do that when the character Ellen isnt in a relationship at all? But I guess no one really payed attention to them and it was Ellens sitcoms so she could wear them if she wanted.

I have a feeling that four is not the lacky number of ellen. Is like a governement change as we say in Greece (we have elections every 4 years

Well, maybe she just like to wear it at all times...I wear one, and i'm not in any relationship, I'm wearing it for...5 years now. I just like how it looks on my hand.

I read her biography and there it is said that she was in a relationship. Everybody on the set knew it and her girlfriend was with her there too.

She wasn't in the closet in private....all of her friends knew. But the pressure of public and media became too big and so she decided to come out. And..to be able to be true to herself.

like she did with Alex for Portia. Just a thought.
