The Golden Girls

Hey everybody!

I was just wondering if anyone else on here loves The Golden Girls as much as I do! I think it is the greatest show on earth after Ellen of course, but still, it is soooooo funny and hilarious! I just bought a book off Amazon the other day and I didn't know this when I ordered it, but a lot of the book centers around how The Golden Girls affected the gay community! I got the book in the mail a few days ago and in the first few pages they made a reference to Ellen's coming out show and then I read the foreword at the front of the book and realized what the book was about. It still has a lot of info about how the show got created and how the actors were cast and all that, but I just found that interesting. Aside from all that, I just love the show! I have all 7 seasons on DVD! Just wanting to know if anyone else loves the show too! I know it's an older show, and I just discovered it in reruns a few years ago on Lifetime, but it has become one of my favorite shows!

Yes i too loved Golden Girls especially the dear ole duck and the over sexed one! (cant remember all their names...maybe a Sophia, but cant remember the others).

I know I'm gonna show my age here, but I grew up with it airing on TV, not from the Re-runs! I still watch them on Lifetime when I'm channel surfing.

While they all had their parts in making the show the hit it was, I still think that Sophia was the real pistol. I feel bad that she's so sick now (I believe with Alzheimer's!?!? - not sure). And to still see Betty White as active as ever when she was on TEDS, that's real hard to believe. Keep on truckin ladiez!

It certainly would be :cool: to see a reunion of the Golden Girlz!!

the show is adorable! i watched it for the first time in a very long time on my last day of finals when i was "taking a break" from studying and i was exhausted from being up late night after night and stressing and all that stuff and had been going through a deep depression and was really emotional and it was the episode where sophias friend wanted her to help her kill herself and the words she said to her friend about living made me cry and after i watched it i felt really good. i ended up doing great on my finals.

Wow! I just noticed my thread had been revived with more posts! Yeah, besdies Ellen that is all I watch is the Golden Girls! I have all the seasons on DVD and watch them everyday! And, yeah, Sophia is probably my favorite character too, but I also love Betty White. They were all funny in their own way, and each brought something just as funny as the other to the show! Really, the only other show I'll watch usually is Desperate Housewives, whose creator ironically used to write on the Golden Girls' last two or three seasons. Anyone who is a big fan of DH knows that the creator is Marc Cherry who I didn't know until recently, is gay! He and writing partner Jamie Wooten were the "gay writers" on Golden Girls! And Mitchell Hurwitz who worked on Ellen's second sitcom and who did Arrested Development worked on Golden Girls too! I just thought I'd share all this trivia about all the shows because I think its fascinating to see how all these people worked on all these shows that I love and how they all have something to do with Ellen in some way...LOL!!!

I'm a golden girls fan too!! Sophia is probably my fav!
My mom and i both watch this together whenever we have time.
One of my fav episodes is when they all do the play for " henny penny" and Rose actually thinks the sky is falling..lmao! :lol:
