Some places don't get too cold though - unfortunately it does where I live (no snow, but only just). Some days aren't too bad. Thankfully though, it has rained steadily for a week and we will probably be off Level 5 water restrictions! We haven't been able to use a hose since 2003!:D

I wish it was summer.......

Each household is restricted to 150 litres per person per day! (I have no idea the measurement conversion)

That would be salt water though.

Desalination actually results in waste water that is very salty.

It is also, I expect, a fairly expensive way to get water.

I found a fairly old link where a demonstration plant would cost $1000 (USD) per acer foot. I think that is water covering an area that is one acer to a depth of 1 foot.

I'm not sure what the equivalent metric unit is.

It is around 325 851 US Gallons or 1 233 480 Liters.

The cost at the moment is around 742.165 Euros.
