Almost everyone I know has facebook, its huge!!!! There are people on there that I haven't seen or spoken to in years and now we are in touch again, its great :)

I have it, but I still like MySpace better because of the layouts and making it your own aspect. Though, I use Facebook more because none of my friends use MySpace anymore now that they all have Facebook.

Don't you guys think there are too many social networking websites now? I personally don't have myspace or facebook, but I do have friendster. Although I haven't logged in there for quite some time... I guess for me it just gets old. I was an au-pair in pennsylvania in 1992 -92. But over the years of studying and moving around, I lost contact with this wonderful family:(

Nicole its fun and since I've joined, I have met up with old high schoolers (we are having our 20 year reunion this year - that tells you how old I am - but we are planning it together) and I have caught up with a lot of my college friends, all the TEDS TRIP 2008 peeps are on, and I am more on that site than this one. I post all my Ellen clips, have photo albums (3 of Ellen with 60 pics each, 2 of Portia and Ellen, all my wallpapers, my friends and family, etc. And there is PMing too. And its addicting. You can send your friends hugs, drinks, have a pet, a farm, hatchlings, celebrity game, etc. Remember how we got you onto You Tube? lol... join the fun girlfriend!

I just started to use Facebook, I was skeptical at first, too, but it's a great way to keep in touch with people, especially if you live in different countries. Also, you can control who gets to see your profile, so you don't have to worry about employers - unless, of course, they ask you to add them as a friend, but I don't know if they go that far.
I just got in touch with someone from my high school again via Facebook, she now lives in Spain and I hadn't heard from her in 15 years.

Yes, I got a couple of "invitations" but didn't join for a while as I thought it was gonna be too invasive ..... but if you only accept people you want contact with & have your privacy listed as "friends only" to see your comments, then it's a wonderful way to stay in touch.

You can put all your photos available to your friends only. I had some "stranger" comment on one of Ellens Photos and I didnt know who it was and it freaked me out after seeing Ellens monologue today about Facebook lol. SO I change the privacy settings. No one can see it unless YOU approve them... so an employer wouldnt be able to "hack" into it and see your things. I am in a town like yours and I have a ton of townies on my list and I post Ellen things all the time and they know I'm obsessed, that shes gay, that shes married, but they love her lol.

They take too long to grow! I really want a barn so I can sell off those horses. Maybe I should stop planting new crops and just start harvesting and saving the cash. Geez, I'm addicted to this crap! And don't even get me started on the Fashion and Vampire Wars! All this Facebooking is interfering with my "real" life...

Great advice to Farmer T .... I've noticed she's now got a barn & a few other luxuries!! It takes 6-7 days before trees can be harvested, & then they can be re-harvested every three days after that. Very profitable!!! I'm gonna get myself a larger farm tomorrow!!

Over the past week Ellen DeGeneres has seen a surge in her Facebook fan page base. How has the team promoted the Facebook page? She has actually promoted the page on air and they are giving way free products such as a free HD Tivo. The promotion in combination with a link on the Ellen DeGeneres website has been extremely effective.

Also adding to the momentum has been the addition of free Ellen DeGeneres show clips. This evening while scrolling through the posted items tab of my news feed, I noticed that six friends had shared a video clip which was originally posted on her fan page. In the past 36 hours I have already seen two Ellen clips float through my news feed and this is not through a paid promotion by the show.

The team behind Ellen’s fan page has received tons of fans, jumping from around 170,000 fans at the beginning of the year to over 471,000 fans today. Ellen isn’t the only one getting great promotional value though. Facebook has also received a lot of free promotion on the Ellen DeGeneres show. She spent an entire week talking about her Facebook fan page.

Honestly, I can’t pinpoint the source of Ellen’s growth over the past week but I’d imagine that it has something to do with her newly posted videos which are spreading around the site. This just goes to show how powerful Facebook pages can be for those that leverage the technology effectively. The Ellen team is clearly well versed in emerging internet technology as well.

For instance one page on their site includes a Kyte hosted clip with Ellen followed by 346 comments. The company currently posts “Ellen in a minute” clips on the site which I think would also be smart to distribute via Ellen’s Facebook page. I’ve included a chart of the Facebook page fan growth below and if you’d like to add to it you can go join the Facebook page.

I obtain this information from perezhilton.com website, so I don't know how valid the information is. I can't imagine Facebook owing personal information on it former members after they closed their accounts. I would like to see them try to attempt to maintain Ellen via TEDS materials on her Facebook page; I can see an arbitration on infringement rights in pursuit.

That's what it says in the Terms of Service you agreed to when you opened your account, apparently.
The Consumerist recently uncovered this disturbing info and it's causing quite a stir.

So, what does this mean?
Basically, Facebook can do whatever the hell they want with YOUR STUFF.
And, they can do so WITHOUT your permission.

For example, they can license your personal pictures out to companies, make a shizzle of money and don't have to give you a dime.
Sounds really, really sh!tty and sooo shady!!!!!
