Hi Everyone,
I've been a member here for almost a year so when i realised i needed help with something i decided to ask all my friends that live in my computer :D.

OK, So next june I am going to Vattalkundu in India to work with orphaned and abandoned children- And i can't wait!!!!! but the problem is that i have to raise £1,300 (a little over $2,000 u.s) Which I am having difficulty doing.

Do any of you know a way it is possible for me to set up an account onlinie for ppl to make donations online?? or do you have any ideas??

I'm in the midst of planning a party for nxt march but i need to have half of the money in by christmas - and im stuck, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kirsty

Have you thought of using PayPal?

They have a service, Request Money, that might work.

PayPal Request Money (http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/req/index-outside)

I should mention that I have not used this service. I have used PayPal to pay some bills and buy stuff, but not to receive money.

thanks for the idea - i have thought about it but was a bit wary about pay pal as i have only used it to pay things before and i was kind of hoping for something anonomous cause theres the whole thing that all charitable donations should be anonomous know what i mean?

but thank you i will definetly check it out.

have you tried justgiving.com , i am not sure if you need a registered charity number or not but some of my friends have used this way of collecting money before.
I wish you the best of luck in raising the money, i have to raise over £1000 each year for a project i work on, it is not easy!!
good luck.x

Well I can’t really help you with the money but some mental support should be enough. It a good decision to go to India, I have been there this year and it was just great. The people are nice and the country is just fascinating.
So good luck

myself and friends have done sponsored runs, sponsored walks, raffle within my faculty at university, talks in schools about the project, talks in church, events in the student union, selling my junk in car boots and ebay, asked for donations, if you are holding an event you can speak to you local newspaper to publish an article with contact details (my friends have had mixed results but may be worth a try), bag packing in supermarkets. this is just a few ideas that we have used. If you type in fundraising ideas to the search engine you can get hundreds of ideas, just depends on where you work/study etc and contacts you can get as to how many ideas you can use.
get in touch if you need to know anything else.

Maybe you can make a youtube video to show people the poor orphaned and abandoned children. Then show the link to the fundraising website at the end of the clip and at the description part of the video.

Hope this can help;)
