This morning on Ellens show, Hayden Panettiere was one of the guests. She wasn't there to promote Heros, but to inform us about the devestation going on in Japan. If you haven't seen the show yet, or seen the disturbing video on the news, I'll tell you what is happening.
6 months out of the year, Japanese people go into the waters to kill dolphins and porpoises. It is estimated that the Japenese, Norwegian, and Icelandic fisherman are going to slaughter 3,000 whales in addition to slaughtering 20,000 dolphins and porpoises. They are doing it to make a profit from the meat...which is stupid because they are killing themselves anyways because dolphin meat is very toxic.
Hayden, a few weeks ago went to Japan to try and stop it. While she was in the water with some other people trying to get the fisherman to stop she was hit and poked away by the people in the boats. She was unable to save the dolphins. In her own words today on the Ellen DeGeneres show, she said the water was so thick with blood you could literally take a paintbrush dip in the water and paint a canvas with the dolphins blood.
