I Think I Should Leave This Amazing Forum

Hi, my name is Susan and some of you know me.

I am a huge Ellen fan and a huge fan of a lot of you that I met at the Ellen taping in October. I've loved Ellen ever since she was famous, before she came out... and I think she is a great role model for everyone and I admire her for all that she has done. I just love her.

I am also passionate about politics and have upset many people because my candidate is against gay marriages. I have defended myself stating that I do not agree with that one of his many issues, but I guess it doesn't matter. I was told that I shouldn't be on this forum because I am offending everyone, including my friends, even though I have stated I don't agree with his opinion. I feel like being straight and being on this forum is wrong, but I could be wrong on that too.

I love being here because of Ellen, and I love being here because a lot of you are amazing people. I love the Clipping of the Day, the Pics of the Day, The Webcam, the clips, pictures, the games especially and well everything about it.

But I am straight and well, apparently I feel that maybe moon1 is right and just stay away because maybe straight people shouldn't be here that are into politics, which is a touchy issue. Many of you have read my posts and I have tried to be nice, but now I just feel I am causing so much pain to my friends, that I think, I'm not sure yet, that I should just be a reader and not a poster.

This is very hard for me. I feel like I can't be an American and a Christian and be for gay rights, which is what I get shit here in my small Christian conservative town I live in. Its ridiculous! I love my candidate for his tax issues and health care and that he is just a funny nice guy and I worked with his wife on a huge Habitat For Humanity Blitz Build in Americas, GA. We were on the womens build and built a house (all women) in 5 days and beat a lot of men builders first (yay). We built 35 homes with over 1500 volunteers and worked 15 hour days in the hot Georgia sun. I learned a lot about dry walling and made the front porch with 2 amazing people (one the bodyguard of Mrs. Huckabee). It was a an awesome and humbling experience. I am a huge advocate for Habitat, animal rights, and for gay rights, along with other issues. But I am pissing people off and I am sorry for hurting anyones feelings for my choice in a candidate that I love. Maybe you don't understand what I am feeling, but I have been persecuted for my beliefs here and in my home town. I just got into a huge argument with my neighbor about the issue because I brought up this forum and the discussions and being told that because I like Mike Huckabee, I hate people and I was told I was hated too. So I guess I have a lot of thinking to do and and praying and I really am sorry for offending anyone, but I still support my candidate.

Thanks for your time and I'll see what happens and how I feel after the caucauses tonight because I am getting up on the platform and discussing this issue with my candidates representative. The town will go nuts and probably think I am gay, but I don't care because anyone being gay isn't an issue for me. I just love people and love this forum, but I also know that my views aren't helping anything.

I think that is great that you're planning to bring up that issue with your rep. There's nothing wrong with being a republican and straight and on this forum! I'm straight and not planning on going anywhere. There's no question, politics is divisive and you'll always get heat from someone when that topic comes up. But, the fact that you are for all those great causes makes me happy because it might get people on the right thinking differently!

Susan, I agree with Petal.... just forget what has happened on here. moon1 would be loving it if you decided to leave. In fact if she can't come on here and have a general discussion with us all without causing agro, then she is the one that should be considering leaving this website.

I am also straight and believe in rights for everyone straight or gay AND I believe that this board is not just for gay people but Ellen fans, that is why we are all here, and like Petal said, we have another big event in October this year, so just let this slide and start saving girl:):):).

Who we decide to vote for is personal and nothing to do with anyone else.

In fact I have just checked moon1.... joined in August 2006... So not been on the board as long as a lot of us on here, just over a year.

AB, there's no need to leave. You bring a lot of humor, creativity, and joy to the people on this site. I love you and I accept you even though I don't agree with your choice of candidate. I have many republican friends and none of them are gay or anti-gay and I would never hate them because they won't agree to vote for who I want them to vote for. We align ourselves with certain political parties based on the issues that are most important to us, bottom line.

And, While my personal belief is that religion will ultimately be the downfall of man - or rather, the wars waged in the name of God will be what destroys us all - nobody has the right to stand in judgement of another because of their beliefs. If we could all learn to love and just accept our differences, those differences that exist between us would be celebrated instead of feared.

It's unfortunate that you feel like you need to leave a site that you are emotionally invested in because of a conflict of interest from another member. No one can know just exactly how You are feeling, they can only relate, but I'm sure it's not a great feeling since you are considering not being a part of it anymore.
I'm sure we all found this site with one common interest, ELLEN. All the other "perks"(if you will) were an added bonus.
Ellen loves humans. Here, we are all HUMANS. We all have beliefs and we all know that we aren't exactly the same as the next person. That is Part of what makes this site so great.
irregardless of our gender, sexuality, race, religion, we are ALL Human. We all have beliefs and Feelings. We all started here with one common interest, ELLEN. And the friendships that were formed, well, that was just icing on the cake.
You can see just from this thread alone, how many people care about YOU. You brighten other people's days. There are so many people here that care about you.
It would be a very boring world if every human were exactly the same. Why not be robots? Yes, some people take their beliefs and politics very personal, but looking at the big picture, aren't we all here to share a smile. Make others feel good.
The bonds that you have formed with so many people here are pretty strong, and hopefully you will truck on through this and realize that there is So Much negativity out there in the world. Here, we should all feel safe and welcome.
I (not being a doctor by ANY means) recommend a nice hot bubble bath, a relaxing cd (perhaps an Ellen talking book) and just relax with your thoughts. Focus on the positive and not block out the negative, but realize that you are above the Negative.. you are entitled to your own opinions and beliefs.
I personally don't remember signing that I needed to be a certain race, religion, have a certain sexual prefrence, in order to Enjoy this wonderful site we all found one way or the other.

Another somewhat cheezy, quote or mantra "that which doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger".

Focus on your relationships with your friends here.... and take in whatever was "said"/typed to you, think about it, and move on.
Life is seriously too short to be stuck in the negative. There are too many people here that would miss you!

AB...While I don't know you personally, this makes me very sad that you would feel that you have to leave this forum. Remember that this forum is for fans of Ellen...and it doesn't matter if you are gay or straight, Republican or Democrat, whatever. Last time I checked Canada and the United States still had the powers of freedom of speech. Please stay AB, we all love you and so what if your candidate has some different views. everyones candidate will have one or more things you might not agree with but if we, as individuals, think they are the right person for the job then it is our right as a free society to vote for who we like. Is there really one candidate that has jumped up and said "I will make gay marriage legal in the USA"? I've said this before and I'll say it again. I've been to TEDS 5 times and Jay Leno 4 times. The people in Jay's line are less friendly and stand offish. In Ellen's line for her show I have always made new friends. It's the kind of people she attracts and draws in naturally. She is very open and real and very friendly. This website draws in the same kind of people. Most of us get along great.
Vaukiller...You think we're friendly and build good relationships on here......Haul your boody from Brazil and join us in Burbank next October for the next TEDS trip. It's an experience of a life time. Not only is it totally awsome to see a live taping....It's so much better to be there with friends from this site. We had a blast. I was nervous about our different personallities and being strangers to eachother. Not the case at all. I felt like I had known these members forever. Like we all came out of the same mold. We came from different walks of life and all over the world and we were all the same as far as big hearted and open minded and full of fun.

Susan, aka, AB..... I want to see you there next October. I want to see you on this forum. We all have differences. Lets enjoy it and wipe out hate. Ellen Fans ROCK !!!

Susan, I understand why you are doing what you are doing, but the opinion of one person should not out-rule the opinions of several people...in other words, just because moon1, one person by the way, thinks you should leave this site, THE REST OF US...and there are a lot of us...want you to stay!!

I know you're in a tough position, but there is nothing on this site saying you have to be a certain race, sex, sexuality, religion, political affiliation, anything!! Heck, James is a straight male...and he's on this site!! There are several straight females on this site, not just you!! I do want you to stay...please don't go!! I myself, am not into politics, but I know you have good reasons for voting for who you are voting for and I respect your decision. I'm gay and very liberal. However, my entire family is straight and quite conservative. Most of my friends are straight and some of them are very conservative. I love them all - gay, straight, conservative, liberal, black, white, and everything in between.
I don't get upset about much but it does bother me when someone who's been discriminated against in some way chooses to take that hate, turn it around and use it against another innocent person. Damn it, some people just never learn.
If Ellen Degeneres has taught me nothing else, she's taught me that there is room in this world for all of us. I certainly can't speak for Ellen or all of her fans but I don't think you have anything to fear here, AB, and as if you couldn't tell, the overwhelming response is that we'd like for you to stay, feel comfortable and please forgive the person who made you feel unwanted.

Of course this website is open to all people who may have different beliefs. My only objection to what you (AB) did was your vocal praising of, and posting a half page picture of you hugging, an extreme gay hater on this website. AB STARTED the politics with her huge electioneering "I love Huckabee" picture. I don't think praising a person who hates and wants to oppress and hurt most of the people on this website is in good taste. By all means support Huckabee, but it is not appropriate to bring that support publicly and openly to this website. Gay people cannot be expected to love and support Huckabee when he hates us. And we don't want to see someone like that in a half page photo on this website. I did not start with the politics, AB did with her posting of the huge picture of her hugging Huckabee and her writing her love of him. That was when it got political and divisive. Because I have a right to be offended and I will not be silenced and say it all ok that someone who hates me is praised in front of me. But AB should stay on this website but SHE needs to keep the politics out of it and desist with the election posters that might be offensive to some people.

Of course this website is open to all people who may have different beliefs. My only objection to what you (AB) did was your vocal praising of, and posting a half page picture of you hugging, an extreme gay hater on this website. AB STARTED the politics with her huge electioneering "I love Huckabee" picture. I don't think praising a person who hates and wants to oppress and hurt most of the people on this website is in good taste. By all means support Huckabee, but it is not appropriate to bring that support publicly and openly to this website. Gay people cannot be expected to love and support Huckabee when he hates us. And we don't want to see someone like that in a half page photo on this website. I did not start with the politics, AB did with her posting of the huge picture of her hugging Huckabee and her writing her love of him. That was when it got political and divisive. Because I have a right to be offended and I will not be silenced and say it all ok that someone who hates me is praised in front of me. But AB should stay on this website but SHE needs to keep the politics out of it and desist with the election posters that might be offensive to some people.

First of all, I want to say that I understand where you're coming from with the posting of the picture and the half-page whatnot and all that. But we all post stuff on here from time to time that is important to us, whether it be good for us and Ellen or not. AB lives in America, as do I, and last time I checked, we had the right to freedom of speech. And yes, a lot of people don't like other people's opinions and such when they state them, but still we have that freedom...we also have the freedom to disaprove of their opinions and beliefs but respect them at the same time!

If we wanted to get on about the picture itself...I could go on about how I don't like to see pics of Ellen and Anne on this forum because of what Anne did to Ellen! Now, there are a lot of people on here who have different opinions about Anne, and some of them think it was just as much Ellen as it was Anna that caused their break-up...I tend to disagree, but then again, I don't know either of them personally, and neither does anyone else on this forum, and so we will never know the REAL story about what happened...we can only go by what Ellen has said, and what we've heard about and read about in the papers and on tv. But my point is, I have practiced my right to free speech by stating my opinions, not only about Anne, but about many things on this site...the Iggy saga, the writer's strike, gay issues, all kinds of stuff!!! And there have been things on here I have just kept my mouth shut about! And I think in this case with politics, maybe we should just all keep our mouths shut and if AB posts a picture of herself with a political candidate, we should just ignore it if we don't like the candidate or if we don't care one way or the other!! So in my case, I do not like seeing pictures of Anne on this website, with or without Ellen, just as you do not like to see pictures of Mike Huckabee or anyone in his same affiliation...but I just don't say anything about it, I shrug it off and go along.

Like I said earlier, I am not into politics so I'll be honest...when she posted that picture a few days ago, I didn't reply or put in my two cents because I had nothing of an opinion about her post.

It's kinda like the old saying, "If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all." But of course, I see both sides of this issue, and I HAVE put in my two cents before on such things on this site, like I said, but I don't usually post a lot of my opinions on here about politics and religion because I have always been told, those are the two things you do not discuss with people because it always brings up fights and disagreement.

I personally, don't want to see a lot of politics on this site, and I know this is an Ellen site, dedicated to a person that tries to stay away from all that too, but even though Ellen says she's not political, she has to be a little bit to have these politicians on her show...and are we not allowed to talk about a show featuring a politician in general under the "Todays Show" thread?

I say, let's keep it clean as much as we can around here. Everything is politics...we cannot get around it! In fact, if you read the threads about Iggy and the writers strike, I could be a great debater if you read my posts on those threads...LOL!!! That, in a way, was politics, because we WERE debating back and forth on such things.

But the point I'm trying to make at the end of this novel is that, if someone DOES happen to post something on here dealing with politics and religion, maybe we should just ignore it, whether we agree with it or not! If you (meaning not just moon1, but everyone on here) want us to know about your political affiliation and your religious beliefs, fine...that is part of the whole freedom of speech thing! We can't stop you from posting anything about it on here, but we should just stay away from replying to it if we can so help it!! This has gotten way to out of control and has made me very sad and I'm sure it would have Ellen feeling the same way. AB is a very important part of this forum and one of the top posters. Anyone that makes her feel unwelcome or any other member unwelcome should be the one to leave the site all together instead of causing so much controversy. AB lives in Iowa and is moved by a certain candidate, so be it, all the power to her. This doesn't have to influence you in anyway unless your that weak of a person and then you need to get help elsewhere. Hi Susan, I didn't now you really well but after reading your post you seem like such a sweet, warm-hearted person, and to me that's what counts the most. You make very good points, and you're right, there shouldn't be anything about him on this website...I did not know that much about him before reading your last post, BUT I do still feel like AB should be allowed to come on here and talk about Ellen-related stuff!!

I am a huge Ellen fan and a huge fan of a lot of you that I met at the Ellen taping in October. I've loved Ellen ever since she was famous, before she came out... and I think she is a great role model for everyone and I admire her for all that she has done. I just love her.

I am also passionate about politics and have upset many people because my candidate is against gay marriages. I have defended myself stating that I do not agree with that one of his many issues, but I guess it doesn't matter. I was told that I shouldn't be on this forum because I am offending everyone, including my friends, even though I have stated I don't agree with his opinion. I feel like being straight and being on this forum is wrong, but I could be wrong on that too.

I love being here because of Ellen, and I love being here because a lot of you are amazing people. I love the Clipping of the Day, the Pics of the Day, The Webcam, the clips, pictures, the games especially and well everything about it.

But I am straight and well, apparently I feel that maybe moon1 is right and just stay away because maybe straight people shouldn't be here that are into politics, which is a touchy issue. Many of you have read my posts and I have tried to be nice, but now I just feel I am causing so much pain to my friends, that I think, I'm not sure yet, that I should just be a reader and not a poster.

This is very hard for me. I feel like I can't be an American and a Christian and be for gay rights, which is what I get shit here in my small Christian conservative town I live in. Its ridiculous! I love my candidate for his tax issues and health care and that he is just a funny nice guy and I worked with his wife on a huge Habitat For Humanity Blitz Build in Americas, GA. We were on the womens build and built a house (all women) in 5 days and beat a lot of men builders first (yay). We built 35 homes with over 1500 volunteers and worked 15 hour days in the hot Georgia sun. I learned a lot about dry walling and made the front porch with 2 amazing people (one the bodyguard of Mrs. Huckabee). It was a an awesome and humbling experience. I am a huge advocate for Habitat, animal rights, and for gay rights, along with other issues. But I am pissing people off and I am sorry for hurting anyones feelings for my choice in a candidate that I love. Maybe you don't understand what I am feeling, but I have been persecuted for my beliefs here and in my home town. I just got into a huge argument with my neighbor about the issue because I brought up this forum and the discussions and being told that because I like Mike Huckabee, I hate people and I was told I was hated too. So I guess I have a lot of thinking to do and and praying and I really am sorry for offending anyone, but I still support my candidate.

I am lesbian and I have been victim of homophobic agression 13 april 2001. I was helt captive for 4 days, humiliated, battered and molested (they called it sexual re-education).... Dumped for death 4 days later in a little alley between the bin bags... I found out weeks later that I were pregnant... (my girlfriend - we broke up last year, dec 2006 - where in a long term relationship and we decided to go through the pregnancy... my daughter will turn 6 the 30 January 2008) But whenever I meet ppl who talk hatred towards gay ppl!!! I feel a lump in my throat and I can feel all the pain over again.... THANK YOU! We just want peace here, so y'all, let's please just stop talking about this!!! It's getting to be way too much now!!! This is an Ellen fansite...there are fansites for politics and this is NOT one! I wish someone would just close this thread, and I want AB to come back!

I agree with you 100 percent Nicole it sure has gotten way out of control and i would like to see AB come back for sure,and this is a Ellen fansite and we should not be talking about Politics. Hopefully Vizitor will close this thread or one of the moderators will.

Before I do that though, my candidate did win last night and it was a huge surprise. I posted that picture because I was excited I got to meet him, just like when we post pictures of Ellen, we get excited or post pics of your friends, partners, family, etc.

So to moon1 and Stephie22, I do not hate anyone, gay or straight or you as a matter of fact. But you hate me and you have to deal with that on your own. Its sad that hatred is being used on this forum...

I have the right to say or think what I believe because I am secure enough in my beliefs and I know that (after reading all of these unexpected posts) people may not agree with me but they don't hate. Why hate? Its a waste of time and I'm sorry I wasted all of your time with this bullshit.

I'm back baby and well to those that hate me... do it, it just shows me how insecure you are with yourself. You have to put people down to make yourself feel better and I won't do that here. But you got to me, I spent the whole night crying last night after the caucuses. Thanks for that btw.
