I thought I would start a thread about movies. Perhaps talking about your favorite movies, movies suggestions, movie reviews, anything about movies because I had a question...
Has anyone seen Premonition with Sandra Bullock? Please don't say anything about it because I just got it and I hear its creepy and I'm a little scared LOL to watch freaky movies by myself... is it good?
Also I recommend if you want to watch a good thriller with Jennifer Aniston, get "Derailed". O M G. It was one of those movies to where you just are in shock... I was scared too... eek!
Mr. & Mrs. Smith I just watched and its awesome (hilarious too). A must see!;)

I have seen Premonition twice and it is a little freaky, but it is a REALLY good movie!!! It's one of the best movies Sandra Bullock has done, but then again, I love almost everything she is in...love her to death!!
I will not tell you anything else about the movie, but it is kinda confusing because you're viewing everything through her eyes kinda so you don't know what's going on right along with her...or at least that's how I felt when I watched it!
I'll have to get back to you on some of my favorite movies...Ellen's coming on in a few minutes and this is my last day off before I go back to school next week and I have to go to work in an hour so I'm going to go watch Ellen and enjoy it!

titanic is DEFINITELY the best movie ever
I saw it so many times!
I just saw Juno yesterday.
the new one that has Jason Bateman and Micheal Cera (2 from arrested development) and ellen's buddy, Allison Janney!
It also had Ellen Page in it.
She's a good actress.

Yay, a movie thread, cool! :D Okay, my top ten favorite movies are probably:
1. Brokeback Mountain (2005) SOO freaking sad! Tears were just running down my face in the end!
2. Moulin Rouge! (2001) This movie was also really sad, I tend to watch movies that makes my cry a lot :p Don't know why
3. The Others (2001) I don't usually watch scary movies a lot, but this film was just a masterpiece!
4. Ondskan (2003) It's a swedish movie, called "Evil" in English
5. There's something about Mary (1998) Cameron Diaz is great in it, and I love how some really unexpected things happen in the end!
6. Meet the parents (2000) Two words: Ben Stiller!
7. The Good Girl (2002) Jake Gyllenhaal and Jennifer Aniston in the same movie is just brilliant! I got this on DVD for christmas this year
8. Grease (1978) Just a really good movie and I always get so happy watching it, with all the music and everything
9. I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry (2007) I laughed SO hard watching this, it was really hilarious!
10. Rush Hour (1998) Action comedy-movies aren't usually my thing, but this one is an exception :p I have great memories from it too, I always watched it with my friends when I was about 8-9 years old.
(You were talking about "Titanic", and I love that movie too! :) Haven't watched it in a while, though.)
Has anyone seen "From Hell" with Johnny Depp? It's the movie about Jack The Ripper. I just saw it last weekend, and I thought it was okay, mainly because Johnny Depp was in it, and he's one of my favorite actors.
I want to see "Atonement" with Keira Knightley, is it any good?

Nah, Titanic is pretty rad. I remember having this huge puzzle of the poster (I’m pretty sure it’s till around.. somewhere) And it took forever to put together, I hated it.. but so loved it. Though, I probably even if I didn’t like the movie, I wont forget it for a long time to come, cause the scene when Rose is posing for Jack and she has a large absences of cloths, I remember I never wanted anyone to see that, so I would like walk in front of the TV and stand there so no one could see. I was only like 7 maybe 8, I was one weird kid. I thought about buying the DVD special thing… Actually, I think I probably will. Though, It’s probably been out for a long time.
Some of my dirty little secret movies that I love.. that I probably should love less, are.
Grease (I’ve loved that movie for at least 11 years.)
The Little Mermaid (Best Disney movie.. ever)
The Breakfast Club! (Bought the dvd, and watched it at least 5 times in a row that day. I love Bender.)
And! The Incredibly True Adventures of 2 Girls in Love (I laughed so hard, it's really a must watch.)
Among many others… I’m pretty much a movie fanatic.

Aww, The Parents Trap! I had totally forgotten about that movie. It was like my favorite movie when I was about 7-8 years old. Those old memories again... *sigh* (If I'm doing this now when I'm 14, imagine what I'll be like when I'm 40! I will probably get all weepy and nostalgic every time I hear a song or see a picture from the late 90s/early 2000)

I LOVE THE BREAKFAST CLUB! When I was in the hospital, they were playing it on Comedy Central like all day. I was in the room by myself just spitting outloud the lines because I know it by heart. The nurses kept asking me if I needed anything because I know the one line by heart to where Bender describes how his family is like at home and I was saying it loudly with the swear words and I didn't care. It was like my 2nd month in there and I was going stir crazy. So the nurses knew then, I had a potty mouth! But they were sweet to me...
"You no good god damned son of a *****, retarded big mouth know it all asshole jerk..."
"Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe"
Sorry for the swearing, but thats what I said loud and clear!
Oh I forgot, I'm going to go see The Bucket List tomorrow!

I LOVE TITANTIC!!!!
OMG!!! That is probably my favorite movie of all time!!! I went to see it 6 times in the theater when it was out...I can't believe it's been over 10 years ago! That is the most times I have ever gone to see a movie in the movie theater!! And every time it comes on TV I get sucked into it like I've never seen it before! The second most times going to see something in the theater (4 times) goes to:
Erin Brockovich...love Julia Roberts too!
Some of my other favorite movies, or just the ones I can think of on the spot are:
Finding Nemo
Mr. Wrong
Ms. Congeniality
A League of Their Own

Saw "PS I Love You" starring Hillary Swank the other day. It is really good & she does a stirling job in this one, although Million Dollar Baby is still her best.
Other good movies I've seen over the holidays so far:
Death at a Funeral
Room 1408 (scary)
A so-so movie I saw last week:
I am Legend (Will Smith)
Yes, I have to agree that Premonition is a very good movie & Titanic is an all time classic.

I just got back from The Bucket List. It was okay, but I ended up crying in the end. Sean played Jack Nicholsons assistant Bobby.
"Is your name Bobby?" - Morgan "No its Matthew... he thinks its too Biblical." - Sean
Its a good movie, but if you want to save money, wait for the DVD to come out.

Anyone going to go see sex and the city? it will probably be chessy but what the heck u gotta go see it right?
Hello bludflygrl,
my favorite Garbo are Queen Christina and Camille (the one you were looking for. In french it is called "le roman de Marguerite Gautier) and of course, Ninotchka.
I also love the silent ones. The stories are often not very interesting but the way she looks, she moves !! WOW !! And I am always amazed at the quality of the black and white images, the costumes and the sets. I'm so not into clothes but you have to be totally amazed (again) by the quality of the works of such people as Adrian. Incredible !!!
The one I don't get is the last one (Two-faced woman).
But I'll watch it every time I have the possibility...
And for Indiana Jones, who cares what others think, it's Indiana Jones !!!!

I went to see Mamma Mia! yesterday and it was awesome!!! Meryl Streep was awesome in this movie too!! I loved it so much I went out and bought the soundtrack. I took my friend who had cancer to see it...it was her first day to really be out doing something fun since her surgery and everything.
She didn't think she would like it very much, probably because the only ABBA song she knows is "Dancing Queen" because that's the only one they play on the radio here, but she loved it!! I knew I would like it because I love ABBA's music. I had no choice but to learn to like it because when my mom drove me to school every morning for three years when I was in high school, she listened to her ABBA, Bee Gees, and The Carpenters CDs in the car. And I have to say, my mom has good taste in music...the 70s are awesome...LOL!!!:p

The soundtrack has the people in the movie singing the songs...but actually, the songs still sound a lot like the originals when ABBA sings them. But Benny Andersson played piano and keyboards on all the songs, and produced the album so that might be a good reason why the songs sound a lot like the originals. Meryl Streep has a good singing voice, and the girl that played her daughter is good too!! I love both versions of the songs...ABBA's versions, and the new versions on the soundtrack.
I realized after I bought the soundtrack though that they left a few songs from the movie off. For example, Waterloo is not on the soundtrack, and I loved the movie version of it and would have liked to hear it on the soundtrack, but oh well!!

From loony-characters in Girl, interrupted to sad-life Gia to sexy-Lara Croft to critically reviewed Marianne Pearl in A Mighty Heart to ultra-cool Fox in Wanted etc etc etc...the only actress who actually look good while shooting a gun :p she looked way much better holding one than brad in M&MS :p:p:p. Check out her movie The Changeling this year-end directed by Clint Eastwood yeah dats right Mr Dirty Harry himself.......another outstanding performance from the Mighty Jolie :D:D

Meryl Streep has a good singing voice, and the girl that played her daughter is good too!! I love both versions of the songs...ABBA's versions, and the new versions on the soundtrack.
They both were amazing... the shady fellow was Pierce Bronson... he can't carry a tune in a suitcase!:kaffeetrinker_2:

ABBA Gold is actually the CD my mom has in her car and the one she listens to all the time...that's where I got all the ABBA songs I know from!! I actually put the first CD in the 2-disc set on my iPod a few nights ago before I went to see the movie...now I have two versions of a bunch of ABBA's songs on my iPod...LOL!
You're right about Pierce though...Colin Firth sounds pretty good though!!

Has anyone seen The Dark Knight? It was AMAZING! For 2 1/2 hours I had my mouth open in awe the entire time. I don't think I even breathed for 2 1/2 hours it was that good. Heath Ledger is absolutley astonishing as the Joker. By far one of the best acting performances I have seen by any actor, and not just because he died. Even if you don't like Batman or superhero movies this movie will blow you away simply because of Heath Ledger. I saw it at midnight opening night and it was well worth staying awake for! I plan on seeing it a second time, it was that good. I have never wanted to see a movie twice in theaters until this movie. I also love Christian Bale. I think he is a really good actor. Another good thing about this movie is that Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman are also in it! I loved Batman Begins but The Dark Knight makes it look like a crappy movie. Anyways, I encourage you all to see it!

I haven't seen any of the Batman movies, well maybe a few, but I don't remember any of it, and if I would go I could still follow it? I mean you know what I mean ROFL... I really want to see it, but I feel like well, they said Heath got so much into this character and he was on those pills that it killed him and it won't be creepy to watch it? I hear its amazing, but I thought if I didn't see any of the other ones, it would be confusing. Do you think he could win an Oscar for it? Thats the buzz... I might go see it now, even though I know its going to freak me out lol... That Joker looks so crazy!:uglyconf:

Havent seen Dark Knight as yet, but can't wait really, as Heath Ledger has great reviews over here in the UK.....
My favourite movie has definitely got to be Titanic.... with Kate Winslet and Leo De Cacaprio. Brilliant film.
Also Schindlers List has a great impact on me as well.... I saw this film in the cinema, and at the end of the film...... no-one moved.. we all sat for a while before moving off out of the cinema. No-one spoke at all until we got out of the cinema.
That is probably because both of these films are TRUE events in history.

I agree with you...I love that movie!!
But I would like to say something about The Dark Knight, and I hope no one tears me up for this...but I think it's so wrong to celebrate someone's life after they're dead...do you know what I mean? Like Estelle Getty...she died a few days ago and people have been all over tv saying nothing but great things about her...where were they when she was alive? I know people said great things about her while she was alive, but they didn't make a big deal about it on tv until now.
Same thing with Heath...which leads me to my point. If he wins an Oscar, the main reason will be because he was this "great" actor who DIED!! They always do that...they wait until someone dies to recognize them for something!! And I think it's wrong...don't get me wrong about Heath though...I only saw him in 2 or 3 movies, but from what I saw, he WAS a good actor! And I know he probably did a great job in The Dark Knight, but still, I don't think his "good job" is the main reason why he may win an Oscar. I have not seen The Dark Knight and will not watch it because it's just not the type of movie I'm into, not because I don't want to watch it after he's died.
So what I'm saying is...if he does win an Oscar for this role, it SHOULD be because he did a great job in the film, BUT if he wins, it will probably be because he's dead now...which is sad, sad that he's dead and sad that they would only recognize him after the fact!
I'm sorry, I just had to get that out, it frustrates me...and now I'm going to shut up!!

Apparently only 7 other actors got an Oscar after they died...
http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/07/an-oscar-for-he.html
Thanks to The Dark Knight, you might actually care about the Oscars next year. Though summer blockbusters don't usually show up in the big races at the Academy Awards, the film's glowing reviews make it a possible contender in the Best Picture, Director, and Screenplay categories, and it will surely be considered a front-runner for technical prizes. But its greatest Oscar hope has to be Heath Ledger, who'll likely become the seventh-ever posthumous acting nominee for his mesmerizing performance as the Joker. And it's safe to say that several million Dark Knight fans would tune in to the telecast to see if he can become the second such winner (after Network's Peter Finch in 1977).
I haven't seen the movie yet but plan on doing so. And when you hear about how into the role he was and how he couldn't sleep and then went to scripts for help, I may be wrong, but the role killed him... look at that character! Scary... and he took it so seriously which is incredible. I think he will deserve at least a nomination... I don't see other flicks that will produce someone as awesome as Heath right now...

I agree with you...just by seeing the preview, you can definitlely tell how dedicated he was to that role. They do, and when they show a montage, people may or may not know who died, like myself. I am always surprised during those to find out who died. Half the time I don't even know them, but to do a segment of their accomplishments just won't happen, thats why they do a memory sequence. People talk about their work before they die! I guess I don't understand what you are talking about. People knew about Heath before he died. I just don't get it I guess...:uglyconf:

I just mean, they don't constantly make a big deal about people ALL the time while they're alive...well, some people. Big stars, sure, but some people you don't hear a lot about until after they die. And I know Heath was kinda a big star, at least after Brokeback Mountain he was. But he didn't have that "BIG STAR" thing going on like, someone like Tom Cruise or George Clooney...you know, people talk about them ALL the time on tv, but Heath was more of a laid back, quiet person who didn't like all the limelight. So it just seems to me, they're giving him more limelight now than when he was alive. I see where you're coming from too though.

I've watched Batman Begins and dat was a gd re-beginning to the Batman movies after the botched-up job from the earlier Batman movies (i think the worst was Batman & Robin.....George Cloony as Batman????....wat a mish-mash movie dat was). Chris Nolan sorta re-invented Batman and he did a great job, bringing great actors & charaters back to Batman.
Dark Knight wil have to gain a notch and it does, all characters were superbly done and yes Ledger was creeeeeppppily goood :D. I hv a theory why katie holmes passed on the role this time - cos she'll hv to kiss Bale & Eckhard .... no way cruise gonna like dat :p:p.
Oscar-wise, maybe Ledger will get a nod maybe a Golden Globebut doubtful he'll get a oscar. The oscars-peeps is not known to grant a win to dead actors except once way back.
Anyhoo, Dark Knight is about Batman & his villains and not just Ledger. Chris Nolan brought out the real Batman and villains and didn't make a fool of any of the characters. :uglyconf: The next Batman will a tough one with Harvey Dent as 2-face.....he will hv to live up to Joker creepinessss :p

I personally think that even if Heath Ledger was alive he would still get at least an Oscar nomination. I don't think he will win the Oscar seeing as how The Dark Knight is a summer blockbuster superhero movie and all but I believe he will be nominated. His acting performance in the Dark Knight was out of this world. He has not been recognized so much before because he has not had any other Oscar worthy roles. He may have been nominated for Brokeback Mountain, I can't remember. He did really good in that movie though. If he was still alive critics would still be raving about his performance in the Dark Knight. You have to see the movie to fully understand what I'm talking about when I say that his performance was absolutely amazing. I cannot describe his performance with words to give it justice. You have to see it for yourself!
As for the question about it being a horror or a thriller, I would say neither I think. There is not much blood (it's PG 13) but there is a lot of violence. It's a very dark movie. Definitely do not take children to see it! It would probably scare them. It's not scary for adults though. I don't think you will have to worry about having nightmares or anything. It's just a really intense and action filled movie. It has a lot of suspense. Like I said before, I don't think I took a breath the entire time! I was in awe the whole time!
Everyone should see it! Even if you don't like such movies I think you would be very surprised by this one. It has great acting all around!

Today I took my sister to see The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. It was a fantastic movie too. All four girls in the movie are good, but America Ferrera is just so good in this movie!! She is exceptional, compared to the other three girls in my opinion! Maybe I should watch her in Ugly Betty some time.:o I think the only other thing I've seen her in is Traveling Pants (1). I wanted to see that movie, but never got around to it, so I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD, and rent it. Was it any good? I love Queen Latifah too...she is great!

It was a great movie well rounded.
I was skeptical at 1st for having Dakota in it so I didnt watch it for the longest.
After you watch it post if you liked it or didnt like it.
