BMP Files help

Can someone help me? I got this problem in my PC that comes on so often. The problem came suddenly. It's that whenever i try to save a pic it saves as BMP format. And it takes a large space on my disk. I don't face a problem to save a JPEG files as i can transfer formats from BMP to JPEG, but that's it. I mostly face troubles with saving GIF files!!

So pls can someone help me, does anyone know why i get this problem from time to time?!!

What program are you saving files from?

If this is from Internet Explorer, I found a page that might help...

When I save .GIFS in Photoshop, I use "Save To Web & Devices" and it will open up with 4 different boxes and I just hit the save button and it will save it as a .GIF. Ive opened BMP files and done the same thing... not sure I'm helping, but just thought I'd try...

Yup, i used to solve it before but somehoww my brain froze that i couldn't rememeber how to fix it. I tried to google, but each time it gives me resolts to download programs, and i actully don't want to, as it'll make it a lil bit awkward to use other programs.
But thanx to you again, that link reminded me how to do it.
