Showtime's lesbian drama "The L Word" will be back for a fifth season.

The cable network has ordered 12 new episodes of the series, which centers on a group of lesbians in Los Angeles. Production will begin in the summer for an early 2008 debut. Deals are in place with the principal actors.

"The L Word," recently nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for outstanding drama series, began its fourth season January 7. Season-to-date, the show is averaging 310,000 viewers per first-run episode (down from Season 3's 370,000), though the network gives every episode multiple plays throughout the week and offers them on-demand.

The launch of OurChart.com, a social networking site that grew directly out of the series, along with the "L Word" virtual 3-D world Second Life, have raised the show's profile, said Robert Greenblatt, Showtime's entertainment president.

"This season's guest star Cybill Shepherd and new series regular Marlee Matlin are indicative of the show's great quality," he said.

The ensemble cast also includes Jennifer Beals, Janina Gavankar, Pam Grier, Mia Kirshner and Leisha Hailey.

and you are right on the issue of tina rambling on and on about money, it got me sick eventually, now that doesn't mean they still don't fit together coz they do, i think Ilene will develop their characters a lot more before 'if it will happen' getting them back together.
i don't have a problem with jodie as well and even though she and bette need some serious developement to create a better chemistry on cam and especially in their love scenes so they could work it out.

I don't know about that show/scene in particular, but I saw an interview of a woman that has a series that is, shall we say, more explicate, but not all the way and the director/producer of the series.
He said that the actors could not touch, shall we say, the extra private location.
They might appear to do so, but could not really do it.
I think you can be confident that they are not really having sex.

I like season 3... it was the first season I saw (I don't know if it has anything to do with that)... I think that on season 4 they are not that close group that went to the coffee house at the end of the day to talk. They are more separated from each other... I don't know...
the military part is cool and the fact that shane has to take care of her brother, but there are some things that I didn't like as much...

anyway, I really wanna see what they are doing on season 5!

ive seen season 1 a few times because i own it on dvd and ive seen season 3. ive only seen season 2 in french which kinda sucks because the traduction is not very good and the voices are weird! :mad: season four: only the first ep.:( i have to say that my favorite season is the first one although i like most storyline of season 2! i gess if i saw it in english it would probably be harder to choose!

So who watched the season premiere last night?? I loved it, but at the same time I was a bit underwhelmed. I mean, nothing much really happened. Which is the way I like it, but strangely I find myself almost disappointed by it. And the Shane/Paige thing? Please. Ever since Kristanna Loken said she didn't much like the set atmopsphere I've been taking it out in fondness of her character, which means there really is none to get from me at all.

hey kaaaaaaaaaaaa if you are from Canada we are supposed to get the show on showcase starting on January 17 at 10 pm ET. Season 4 finished up about a month ago on the same channel, i thought most cable/satellite provider has the showcase channel. Hope this helps you out...Im counting down to the 17th and you can always get it on youtube, it has been posted earlier from the early preview that ourchart.com offered.

well that sucks, u need a satellite, then u can watch l word 4 times on thursday and ellen like 10 times a day, that alone is worth the 70 bucks, lol, but u always have utube and someone will probably post a link like they did earlier.

If the writer pretends to do a serious interview and writes "Although she is straight and is currently seeing a Los Angeles actor "who knows what he wants,"" I assume she did a little more than just indicated (but true that it's just assumption on my part, maybe she just said she was currently dating a man, and the writer ran with it)... although I haven't really been following it either... although I did read that thing where Jennifer Beals indicated that when she wanted to make sure she was doing the gay thing properly, she asked Kate or Leisha, which would kinda indicate that Kate has some experience in the matter, although it still doesn't make her conclusively gay in any way. She could be gay, or bi, or straight, or just be a, uhm? dykehag? (that sounds awful) (as opposed to faghag? if those words are even allowed anymore) and know stuff... *shrug*

Heh. Sometimes I feel like I write such lengthy posts, with so many tucked-in side-phrases (I don't even know the proper 'shop talk' language to describe it), and extra commas, that people don't really have the energy to read my posts, but it's really just my obsession with describing everything so close to exactly truthfully as possibly, that I'd rather explain everything four times, than say something that is an approximate version of what I mean but is instead only a few words long, and then maybe people would actually read it and interpret it correctly, but I hate interpretation. Also, I love political, grammatical, and linguistic correctness (and especially the correcting of aforementioned correctnesses in other people's languages - and especially that of my students), even if I myself often fail at all three (and instead succeed in inducing confusion). :dry:

It's a show called The L Word. It's on Showtime, and I'd give you the link, but I can't because they don't allow access to their website from outside of the US. (IMDb link HERE (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330251/).)

Ellen has never been on it, the thread is posted under 'Other stars', but it's a soap-opera (sorry, a drama series) about a bunch of lesbians in LA, and since there's a lot of people here with gay interests a lot of us watch it, and talk about it.

The closest Ellen connection is probably Ellen's ex-girlfriend Alexandra Hedison, who was on it back in Season 3 (Dylan, I miss you!). Season 5 just premiered on Sunday, which is why we're all talking about it now.

Thanks I dont have showtime so that is why I didnt know about it then. I work the graveyard shift so I dont get to watch much tv at night just up til i have to leave for work. I tape nip/tuck when I am working and watch the next morning when I get home but only because Portia is on it right now. I dont really care for the show but since Portia is in it I watch it.
