You have to go back to the time and place it was filmed. You can't look back on it from todays perspective.

I think those who love it now are those who loved it then. Its hard for cancelled TV shows to pick up new fans once they are finished, because shows date so easily.

In saying that the Sci Fi genre seemed to survive ...........

although if it was shown more, on more accessable channels, then im sure it would pick up new fans... because it is a classic. Some parts might be considered 'dated' now, but its still funny! I actually think it was way ahead of its time on some points!!!!

I wonder which episodes you watched? I thought that season one and two were decent, but the show really hit it's stride with season three and only got better from there.

Well... I didn't even know there was a show Ellen when it was first on,( I was 6 or 7) but I tape it and watch it the next day when it comes on Lifetime at 12:30. (Or at least I used to before they took it off the air!!!!)

I live in LA and got tickets to the Oct 6th taping. Loni Anderson and i think Ted Dansen?. Anyway, I was so excited to finally see Ellen. The line was forever! I was the very last person they let in because I was a solo. My neighbor cancelled (turns out fortunately)and could not go, and they had one last seat to fill. Living in LA you don't get that star struck. I mean, they are people too. You see celebs all the time. I have to admit, it was a thrill to finally see my hero in person.

I was like 4 when the show started so I didn't watch it. Now I do (well did). I set my alarm clock every morning for 1:30 and got up to watch the show and I taped 12 episodes to watch for the rest of my life. Only 12, what a shame. Stupid Lifetime stopped airing it. :cry:

Well, I'm watching the Ellen series these days....for the FIRST time as it's aired on the Oxygen network....and I think it's hilarious!!! I really hadn't expected it be that great...just thought it's been hyped up due to the 'coming out' deal....but it is hilarious. I've adored friends and absolutely love Will and Grace...but man, even though this is an old show,,,,.....it is so very witty...I actually started liking Ellen more after watching this...love thge way she just rambles on and doesn't stop!

Hey. I was around 13 when the show was aired on the German telly. I remember how I used to pretend I´m ill, so I could stay at home instead of going to school and watch her SHOW. I really, really, REALLY LOVED IT!!! :D
I can´t understand how somebody can not like it. 8O
Damn I should have taped them too. You lucky you :) Can´t believe I haven´t thought about it back then.

Ellen also had a hit tv sitcom before she started her talk show. (called Ellen, lol) and im not sure about which channels it is being shown on in America, but you can buy season 1 and 2 from amazon (as well as other places) i strongly recomend seeing some her sitcom, i absolutly LOVE it!!! :lol:

It would all depend on where you live. If in the US, "Ellen" is currently running it on the Oxygen channel as follows:

Weekdays 2pm/1C & 2:30pm/1:30CTM
Sundays 10am/9C & 10:30am/9:30CTM.

You may always go to www.tvtome.com to look up any programme or actor/actress. This is where I found this information.

FWIW, there are no American listings of "The Ellen Show"...only of "Ellen" (formerly known as "These Friends of Mine"...the most popular of her sitcoms).

Hi Shady,
The Ellen sitcoms come on the Oxygen channel,and it is really funny. I watch it at like 10:00 and at 10:30 the again at 1:00 and 1:30. I have taped most ofthem even the "Puppy Episode" which was really good.
Do you have the Oxygen channel wher you live? Iam a really big Ellen Degeneres fan also.

oh no! i was too late this morning!
they show it as 10:00..and i open my eyes and look at my clock and it was 10:08am!! i run to my tv and almost trip...but it was all worth it to see Ellen :P

tomorrow again at 10am! wooo! i can't wait! i love the series! is my first time ever to watch it haha. i guess i can call myself a young fan since i'm 16. haha :cool:
