Is it possible to convert YOUTUBE music videos into MP3 files? Just the audio part??

How to do it?

I do it with a program "Video MP3 Extractor". First you change the name of the file into an .avi file and then the program does the rest. I do that all the time. :)

Great! So, I assume it worked. :)

I think I listened to the song 20 times in the last hour. Okay, thatīs not possible, because itīs more than 4 minutes long. But I listened that many times that you can listen to it in one hour. :D (this sentence sounds completely wrong :rolleyes:)

That probably depends on the country and the laws of that country.

I would suspect that if you don't share them and just use them personally that you are unlikely to be a target of legal action since the MPAA and others seem to go after distributors.

This is just my guess and bear in mind that I have no legal training in any country.

In the U.S. it is generally illegal to crack/defeat a protection system, or at least that is the legal argument being used by studios and record companies. They even argue that telling someone else how to do it is illegal.

Hi James:

I am in the US.
Can watch and or hear music videos with iphone on YOUTUBE.
But when I am on the airplane, all online devices need to be turned off and therefore no YOUTUBE. I was wondering if loading just the audio portion from those YOUTUBE videos to MP3 woud be considered legal at all???

Otherwise might be safer to go with a CD or itunes download. Want to be able to sleep well at night.

I would imagine that if it is being sold and you don't pay for it, then it probably isn't strictly speaking legal.

There is something called fair use that is meant to allow some personal use, but the record companies have been trying to take that away.

I doubt you will get into trouble if you make single copies for yourself and don't share them with others.

Peer to peer downloads might get you in trouble since those may use your connection to help share the files. That would make you a distributor.
