I just got a new cell phone Monday and it's great, I have Internet on it and all, but I want to use my old ringtone on my new phone. I sent it from my old phone, but it is an .amr file and my phone won't set .amr files as ringtones. And if I hold the phone up to the song and record it again, it saves it as an .amr file and still doesn't work. Or...is there a system where I can send songs right to my phone to use as ringtones? I can get the song into an MP3 from my computer, if there is just a way to go from there to get it on my phone to save as a ringtone.

You know what would make this all easier, is if Ellen would just make a ringtone of TEDS themesong available to purchase on her website. I would pay a few bucks for it if I had to. Maybe I'll scroll on over there right now and mention that to her.;)

Are you sure that the new phone supports ring tones?

Not all do.

Well, I have no idea...I'm not really a phone person...but my new phone is almost like an iPhone...except that it's not.:p It has Internet on it (which I'm paying my parents $15 a month for now), and it's much more fancy than my old phone. So it's kinda like a new gadget to me that has a lot of cool stuff on it.

But as far as supporting ringtones and all that, I really have no idea. My sister had a few of the same files on her old phone that I did and she sent them to me, and they showed up as MP3 files and I can set them as my ringtone, and of course the phone came with a bunch of cheesy MP3 ringtones already. But as far as the rest is concerned, I don't know.

You may need to convert the amr files then...
Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=convert+amr+mp3&btnG=Google+Search)

There seem to be a number of programs around that do that.

I haven't used any of them, so I can't tell you how well they work though.

A thought, you could try sending the file to her and have her send it back. Maybe her phone has a conversion function in it.

If you have internet on your phone you could just e-mail yourself the file and download it from there, that's what I've done to mine :), most phones only supply a 15 - 20 second recording so you could try it that way, just a thought :)

EDIT: Do you know exactly what kind of phone you have?

You might want to try this website:

http://makeownringtone.com/

It seems like if you have the ring tone on your computer and have a USB cable you should be able to do it that way ;)

Thanks for the tips!! I don't have a USB cable to go to my cell phone, but I'm sure I can get one to fit it at some point. :)

Actually, my cell phone model is LG Vu. But I am actually with AT&T Cingular, not Verizon.

I lost the USB cable for my phone, so I bought a Bluetooth adapter off ebay for a few dollars. Its a little USB dongle that allows Bluetooth on your computer, and I bluetooth songs and ringtones off my computer to my phone - that might work also for you if your phone has bluetooth?

I try to remove some noise and here it is a less noisy version

It's difficult to remove noise because the audience's noise is on the same channel with Ellen's voice so if I remove that noise the main wave (Ellen's laugh) is affected. I remove though some noise and maybe now it's a bit better.

Jats thanks for the recommendation ;)
