View Full Version : Uninstall IE 7?
Hey all:
After installing IE8, can I safely remove/delete the IE7 and IE7 Updates folders from the computer (under C drive, Windows, IE7 and IE7 updates?)? Will it mess up the programing?
Any help is greatly appreciated.... :p

If you have an option in the add/remove programs to remove the backups, you could use that.
I don't recall at the moment how it is worded, but I think it says something like removing uninstall information.
That is likely the safest way to go.
An alternative is to be sure the recycle bin is set large enough to hold all of the files and leave them in the recycle bin for a while and see if you have any problems. If not, you can empty the recycle bin.
A thought also might be that they might not change the folder name and still use it for IE8 updates. Using a new name can result in compatibility issues and they might have decided it was easier to keep the name unchanged.
Thanks James....
I don't see any REMOVE BACKUPS or anything related to IE (except IE8) in the add/remove programs.
I will try that recycle bin idea and see how that works (might as well go GREEN right---RECYCLE??).
Thanks again....:D
Hey James:
Isolated the IE7 and IE7 updates folders in RECYCLE bin seem to be working fine...... :D
I will keep that there for a few days before dumping it....
Thanks again.

Is your computer still ok? I have yet to download IE8.

YES...computer is great... running faster than before (more disk space).
If you are thinking of doing what I did, make sure you Download IE8 first.
Then isolate the IE7 file and IE7 update folder in the Recycle bin.
I did that, ran it a couple of days to make sure things are going as it should. Then Empty the recycle bin.
After that I did a Defrag and optimize the drive and its running great.....
