Ellen named -No 1 Gay Woman- | Los Angeles - Ellen DeGeneres has been named the most "Influential Gay Woman in America".
The talk show host topped Out magazine's list of the most "Influential Gay Men and Women in America" in their Power 50 issue. Before finding success as an interviewer, Ellen starred in two TV sitcoms The Ellen Show and Ellen. She has hosted the Oscars and Emmys, while The Ellen DeGeneres Show has won 15 Emmy Awards.
Ellen, who is dating former Ally McBeal star Portia de Rossi, publicly "came out" as a lesbian in 1997 in an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show and has always been outspoken about her sexuality. The 50-year-old star recently took a break from the comedy side of her series to give a tearful tribute to 15-year-old Lawrence King, who was shot and killed because he was gay.

A Message from Ellen (March 31 - April 04 / 2008) | I am writing this from Orlando, Florida. I love Orlando. The people here at Universal Studios are unbelievably gracious and it's so much fun hanging around all these people on vacation. They're all so relaxed and determined to have a good time. We won't really be on vacation; we're all working really hard to bring you some fantastic shows -- although we are determined to have a good time! It's going to be a blast, causing all kinds of trouble and mayhem when we play tricks on unsuspecting vacationers. I'm going to really stir things up at the hotel. I can't wait to show you how I get everybody in the pool to do some synchronized swimming. It's amazing what people will do if you just ask them! When I go undercover as a fortune teller, you won't believe the hilarious reactions I get. Wait ‘til you see what happens when l sneak into a spa, pretend I work there and freak the guests' freaks with some frantic facials!

A Message from Ellen (March 24 - March 28 / 2008) | What a week! I'm still getting over the Chris Matthews incident, as I'm now calling it. Did you know that in a lot of countries we would be considered married right now? Thank goodness I had some leftover luck from my Saint Patrick's Day show, or I'd be in a body cast right now. I love Saint Patrick's Day and it was extra special having the pregnant Minnie Driver stop by to help a lucky audience member win a trip to Ireland. My luck continued on Tuesday when I was shooting hoops with 11-year-old sports prodigy Jashaun Agosto. Did you see that shot I made? Is there such a thing as a 50-year-old sports prodigy? A lucky member of my audience scored a trip to Orlando when she won the Puzzle-logue Game, and we were all lucky to see stars like Cheryl Hines, Blair Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Pamela Anderson. I hope Minnie and Sheryl were watching Pam's story of her kid's safety patrols -- just so they know what they are in for. Whoever got picked by that hunky Brit bachelor, Matthew Grant, surely must be one of the luckiest ladies of all! He's one of my favorites and he's got a great attitude about American women.

A Message from Ellen (March 17 - March 21 / 2008) | You may have noticed that our show has been kind of off the hook lately. We've been shaking things up, and I have to say, I've been having a lot of fun! Friday, I played a game of horse with an audience member. Did you see the shot I made? I love sending out different people as correspondents to report for the show. I really think Anthony Gargiula got a kick out of hanging out at the American Idol party. That kid really cracks me up. I laughed really hard last week.
I'm so lucky that I get to hang around with hysterical people like Steve Carell. He is one of the silliest people I know. Speaking of cracking up, it's impossible to look at him without losing it. Be sure to go see his new movie Horton Hears A Who. The critics say that they love it! Wanda Sykes. She really tells it like it is. And another thing that we've been doing lately is tracking down amazing people we find on the web and bringing them on the show. I cannot tell you how much fun I had with Stacy Westfall and Roxy the horse. If you haven't seen it, check out her website for more amazing video. Thanks for all your votes on your favorite tape piece. Our visit to the See's Candy factory was one of my favorites too. Mmmmmm. I love peanut brittle!
