NYtimes.com reports: "The book publishing industry may be in a slump, but not when it comes to celebrity authors. The comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has signed a deal with Grand Central Publishing, part of the Hachette Book Group, to write her third book, “a look at her life through her humor,” the publisher said on Sunday. The book is scheduled for publication in the fall. “I found that between my talk show, ‘American Idol’ and my late-night blogging, I didn’t have enough ways to express myself,” Ms. DeGeneres said in a statement. Her first two books were best sellers."

ElevenEleven - Ellen's Record Label

Reuters.com reports: "DeGeneres, who joined "American Idol" in January 2010, will announce on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday that she is starting a record label -- eleveneleven -- and signing up 12-year-old YouTube sensation Greyson Chance as her first artist.

Chance, from Edmond, Oklahoma, was spotted by DeGeneres after posting a video of himself playing the piano and singing Lady Gaga's hit song "Paparazzi" at a sixth grade music festival on the web.

He was invited to appear on the DeGeneres' show on May 13 2010, sparking huge interest in his video which has now been viewed over 20 million times.

Chance has also posted two original compositions on YouTube -- "Stars" and "Broken Hearts."

"Greyson ... inspired me to start a record label called eleveneleven. He is my first artist and we are making a record together," DeGeneres said in a statement released on Tuesday (25. May 2010).

DeGeneres said she will continue to use her show as a platform to find new artists, whom she will sign to eleveneleven. The record label is being set up in collaboration with Telepictures Productions.

Guy Oseary, Madonna's manager, and Troy Carter, Lady Gaga's manager, have signed on to co-manage Chance."

The Guilford County Animal Shelter will receive 5,000 pet meals from a pet

news-record.com reports: "GREENSBORO -- The Guilford County Animal Shelter will receive 5,000 pet meals from a pet care product company owned by comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

WFMY News 2 requested assistance from DeGeneres' company, Halo, after the shelter took in most of the 97 dogs seized from a Pleasant Garden kennel earlier this month. The kennel's owner and an employee were charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty.

According to WFMY, meteorologist Ed Matthews presented shelter director Marsha Williams on Saturday with a certificate promising 5,000 pet meals to be shipped direclty from Halo Pet Care Products.

Ellen DeGeneres, Halo Pet Care Products, PETCO, and WFMY are partners in the National Pet Adoption Weekend that takes place this Saturday and Sunday."

people.com reports: "While a new season of American Idol kicked off in Boston Tuesday night, Ellen DeGeneres has already started taping Hollywood week as a judge for talent search, which she called an “amazing time.” But she’s already dreading one aspect of her new job: telling contestants they won’t make the cut. “I don’t like that and I’m not that kind of person — because they have a name for a person who likes to hurt people’s feelings — it’s called ‘Simon,’” the talk show host said on an episode of her show set to air Wednesday.

Another small drawback for DeGeneres: not being able to tune in to the show anymore. “I couldn’t watch American Idol last night because I was busy working on American Idol last night,” she said.

DeGeneres also anticipates some changes in her nighttime routine as taping for the show continues. Usually I’m in bed by 9 p.m., seriously, or 9:15 p.m. if I’m feeling crazy, but last night we were there until today,” she says. “If they keep going like this, I’m going to have to put my pajamas on.”

"People forget what a groundbreaking talent Ellen is and that fame did not come overnight," Bluewater president Darren Davis said in a statement. "But through all her highs and lows, she managed to stay true to herself and prove that she is a female force."

Ellen DeGeneres Replacing Paula Abdul on Idol

people.com reports: "Ellen DeGeneres is taking Paula Abdul's place as the fourth judge on American Idol.

"DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition," Fox television says in a statement.

DeGeneres, 51, begins her stint after the audition rounds, which have featured a rotating group of celebrity guest judges including Shania Twain, Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Joe Jonas and Kristin Chenoweth.

Two Jobs
"I'm going to have a day job and a night job," DeGeneres said at her talk show taping Wednesday, assuring her audience that The Ellen DeGeneres Show will continue. "This is so exciting for me."

Abdul abruptly announced in August, just before the start of American Idol's ninth season, that with "sadness in my heart" she was leaving the highly rated show hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

In the taping for Thursday's Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres said the deal had been in the works for the last couple of weeks. "I've been dying to tell everyone," she says. "It's just been so hard to keep it a secret and we just finally got the OK and I'm so excited. It is going to be so much fun.""

A Message from Ellen

Hi everybody! Did you know that Season Seven of my show is just a week away? It starts on September 8th, so it's really getting down to crunch time -- not because I'm not ready, just because I want to have a "Best Abs" contest with my first guest of the season, David Beckham!

It seems like he spends a lot of time lounging around in his underwear, so he probably doesn't work out much, right? On second thought, maybe it should be crunches time, not just crunch time.

Also, I've been practicing my poker face, which is great because Lady Gaga will also be performing on the first show!

And I've been working really hard this summer to make sure we have a big surprise in store for the premiere show. I bet you're wondering what it is. I'm so excited to tell you. I know I should wait, but I can't. It's too exciting. I'll just tell you.

But I should also let you know that it's not the only thing that's exciting this season. We have new games, great guests, and I bought a new fern. That doesn't really have anything to do with the show, but it really helps lighten up the living room.

But let's stop talking about ferns, please. I have an announcement to get to. If we keep talking about ferns, I'm going to run out of space for the big surprise! Portia and I have two new fish! Fishes? Fishi? Fishies.

That's not my big surprise, either. I just feel like we have a lot of catching up to do. Oh, listen to me going on! What about you? Any new ferns? Fish?

Okay, you took up too much time. You'll have to tune in September 8th to see the surprise we have in store for our first show!

aceshowbiz.com reports: The on-going Teen Choice Awards has announced some of its early winners and Ellen DeGeneres is one of them. The talk show host brings home the Choice Twit prize at the 11th annual awards show which is held at Universal Studios Hollywood's Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.

Taking the stage to accept her gong, Ellen is quoted as telling the audience, "Over two and half million of you are following me, and I still don't know where we're going. I found out a lot of you are following each other. So apparently we're in a big circle." She then jokingly says, "I have celebrity phone numbers, and I'm going to give them out on my Twitter. I just got Zac Efron's a minute ago. I said this is just for me. And Robert Pattinson, I think I have his number.

Greater than that, on the same event Ellen also announces that she will give away $1,000 randomly to someone following her on Twitter starting from next week. "You can apply that toward your college education or to give to someone to help buy you beer," she goes on joking.

Some other early winners at this year's Teen Choice Awards include Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, and Leighton Meester. More awards winners, meanwhile, will be announced soon.

New York, NY – Ladies’ Home Journal sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on the night after Barack Obama was sworn in as President and Proposition 8 passed in California, overturning the legality of gay marriage and calling into question DeGeneres’ own marriage to actress Portia de Rossi. DeGeneres opened up about her marriage, her farm future, her CoverGirl life and more in the March issue, on newsstands February 10. Excerpts from the cover feature follow:

When did she feel most beautiful? “The day I got married.” Ellen’s eyes got red and watery and she runs off. When she returns, she says: “You’re worse than Barbara Walters!...It’s just very emotional. You find the person you love, you think you’ve come this far…and anyway, I never thought I’d have a wedding, and I did, and it meant more than I imagined.”

About their biggest domestic squabble: Says de Rossi, “I do leave half-finished beverages everywhere. I usually have three cups of tea going at once. I’m Australian. That’s just what we do. And anyway, I was going to thank her in our vows, for picking up all the glasses – and say that she’d have to do that for the rest of her life. She took that on. But she’s very good about it.”

About her off-camera future: “I don’t need to be on camera. I’m not a workaholic. I love to spend time with my wife, my family, my animals…We’re looking for the right place to have a farm. Someplace like Massachusetts or Nantucket, with seasons. We could get an 1800s farmhouse with land and rescue animals. Then I’m done.”

Her thoughts on beauty: “To me it’s sad to be defined by beauty, because it’s something that goes away and changes. If you’re trying to chase that forever, you’re in trouble.” At the same time, DeGeneres adds, “as I’ve aged and matured, I just feel better about myself, more confident and more comfortable in my own skin. As that’s happened, I think I look better than I’ve ever looked, because that’s just what happens when you feel better about yourself.”

"Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were married in the night from saturday (16. August 2008) to sunday (17. August 2008) in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Angeles," their spokesperson tells PEOPLE exclusively.

DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, both wore Zac Posen and exchanged rings by Neil Lane during the Saturday ceremony. Their big day also featured arrangements by L.A. florist Mark's Garden.

Ellen DeGeneres and girlfriend Portia de Rossi are planning a lavish wedding in California, according to the New York Post. The couple, who announced their engagement in May, has set the date, but they haven't publicly said when the ceremony will take place.

A source told the Post that Ellen, 50, and Portia, 35, will tie the knot at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, saying, "They didn't sign the contract yet, but they're working out final details and security," the insider added. "The hotel is doing $70 million in renovations that will be done in October. They will also close a significant portion of the hotel, so it looks big."

The talk show host and her actress girlfriend have been dating since December 2004, and DeGeneres reportedly gave de Rossi a lavish, Neil Lane engagement ring with pink diamonds.

Australian actress Portia de Rossi is to wed her long-time lesbian love Ellen DeGeneres following a California Supreme Court ruling to dump the state's ban on gay marriages.

An audience member at the Ellen DeGeneres Show told TMZ.com that DeGeneres made the announcement today as the show was being taped with de Rossi watching from the sidelines. Fans erupted into applause, giving the pair a standing ovation. It came after California's Supreme Court effectively left same-sex couples in America's most populous state free to tie the knot.

In an opinion that analysts say could have nationwide implications for the issue, the seven-member panel voted 4-3 in favour of plaintiffs who argued that restricting marriage to men and women was discriminatory.

"Limiting the designation of marriage to a union 'between a man and a woman' is unconstitutional and must be stricken from the statute," California Chief Justice Ron George said in the written opinion.

Ellen DeGeneres Helped Mom with Cancer Fight

Ellen DeGeneres wants to help keep breast cancer out of the closet.

Recalling what it was like in the 1970s, when her mother, Betty, was undergoing treatment for the disease, the talk show host, 49, tells USA Today, "Everything was a dirty little secret back then."

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, DeGeneres adds, "The fact that she had a mastectomy was not spoken of. She tried to shield me from it a little bit, but she needed my help with recovery and physical rehabilitation. It bonded us even more."

Ellen not allowed to use her own sitcom clips

U.S. chat show host Ellen DeGeneres has been refused access to clips from her own former sitcom "Ellen". The comedienne asked ABC/Disney bosses to let her show a segment from her old programme, which featured a guest appearance from actress Mariska Hargitay - and was told the footage was off limits. DeGeneres, who hit the headlines a decade ago when she 'came out' as a lesbian on the sitcom and in real life, was hoping to use the clip to show Hargitay when the Law + Order: Special Victims Unit star made her debut on the Ellen show on Friday (14. September 2007). She was a guest star on my original sitcom and it was a hilarious scene... I wanted to show it today... but Disney will not let me have any clips of my show to show, unless we pay a whole lot of money. "It was my show... We'd be advertising it, it would help them." Instead Ellen showed a clip of Hargitay in soap Falcon Crest, acting alongside the late Jane Wyman, who died earlier this week.

Daytime Emmy Awards Report: Ellen Wins Again, Rosie Joins The View

Out comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres won two Daytime Emmys at the 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, held (for the first time ever) in Hollywood at the Kodak Theatre on April 28th.

DeGeneres was considered to be a frontrunner in the Daytime Emmy race as soon as the nominations were announced. The producer of CBS talk show (and Daytime Emmy competitor) The View joked that the show had relocated from New York to Los Angeles so it would be easier for DeGeneres to pick up her award.

Ellen Tops Gay History Month Poll

US TV star Ellen DeGeneres has topped a poll of the worldâ€™s most important figureheads in a special GaydarRadio survey to celebrate Gay History Month.

The comedienne, who came out publicly in 1997, took the number one slot in the survey , polling more votes than both the artist Leonardo de Vinci and the writer Oscar Wilde.

The 10 most important figureheads in gay history as voted for by GaydarRadio are:

2. Leonardo da Vinci

Ellen to host Oxygen event in NYC April 03 2006

11/23/2005 2:19:00 PM - New York Women in Communications Inc. Wednesday announced the honorees for its â€œ2006 Matrix Awards.â€?

The event, sponsored by Oxygen, will be held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York Monday, April 3. Ellen DeGeneres will be the emcee.

The Matrix Awards acknowledge outstanding women who have distinguished themselves in the communications fields of advertising, arts and entertainment, books, film, magazines, marketing, newspapers and radio.

Ellen DeGeneres to Host Daily Talk Show

Ellen DeGeneres has signed to headline a daily hourlong syndicated talk-variety show from "Rosie O'Donnell Show" producer Telepictures. The series is likely to be rolled out during fall 2003 and produced in Los Angeles. It will highlight DeGeneres' standup comedy background and "everywoman" approach to life's situations. Telepictures president Jim Paratore, who also serves as executive vice president of Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution, told Daily Variety that Warner has long been interested in a DeGeneres-hosted talk show.
