This week on Ellen...

Monday, November 2
JIM CARREY

There is really no way to describe my friend JIM CARREY. He’s one of the funniest and most genuine people I know, and when he’s around, I just can’t stop laughing! He’s on the show today and I have no idea what to expect. He’s in the new Disney movie “A Christmas Carol,” and I’ve heard he’s been doing some interesting publicity for it. I guess I’ll find out when he’s here. Also today, I’ll play one of my favorite games: Blindfolded Musical Chairs! And since Dough-vember is starting, I’ve got a great new way to give out cash to my audience -- with a cannon! Then, the gorgeous FAITH HILL is coming by to tell me what’s been happening since she was last here. She just released a new fragrance, “Faith Hill Parfums,” and will tell me all about it (I know there are notes involved -- or I may be thinking about her music again). Her husband, Tim McGraw, was on the show last week -- they just celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. I’m not surprised they’ve been married so long, he’s a smart guy -- he told me he doesn’t even bother fighting with her since he knows he’ll lose!

Tuesday, November 3
MO'NIQUE

You may know MO’NIQUE as a comedian, but she will bring you to tears in the powerful new movie “Precious,” with her absolutely amazing performance as an abusive mother. I just can’t stop talking about this movie -- it is so moving and so sad. Today she’s here to tell me all about it. There is already talk about Mo’Nique being nominated for an Oscar, and I think it would be well-deserved. Then, on this season of “The Biggest Loser,” there is an amazing woman named ABBY RIKE. She lost her family years ago in a horrible accident, and she finally decided to start taking care of herself. She is so inspiring -- last week she volunteered to be eliminated so her teammates could keep going. Now she’s here to tell me what it’s been like. Also, with over 80 million YouTube views, a song on the pop Top 20, and signing with Usher, you’d have no idea that my next guest was only 15! JUSTIN BIEBER is the newest teen sensation and will be making his television debut on my show today when he performs his hit song “One Time.” He also has a huge following on Twitter. I know for a fact -- they’ve all been tweeting me to have him here!

Wednesday, November 4
MARIAH CAREY

By now you probably know I love the new movie “Precious.” If you didn’t -- you do now! Everyone in it is absolutely amazing, and many of them are in a role totally opposite their public image, including MARIAH CAREY. You will barely recognize her! I can’t wait to hear all about the experience. She’ll also be telling me about her brand new CD, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” Then, I recently read a book by JONATHAN SAFRAN FOER called “Eating Animals,” and I just had to share it with you. He’ll be here to talk to me about his experience writing it. In the book, he evaluates his own attitudes about nutrition and diet, and examines the attitudes society has about eating meat. He found out some amazing facts that you might not know about your food, so you’ll want to hear what he has to say. Also, this season I decided to feature some of the dancers from “So You Think You Can Dance,” so after this week’s elimination, I’ll have the contestants right here.

Thursday, November 5
AMY POEHLER

I love my next guest so much, I had her here for my birthday show last year! I can’t stop laughing when AMY POEHLER is around. Her show “Parks & Recreation” is hilarious, and I’m sure she has some fun stories about it. Her son, Archie, just had his first birthday; I hope she threw him a big party! Then, you know the funny FRAN DRESCHER from “The Nanny.” Now she’s started her own all-natural skincare line and will be showing it to all of us. As a cancer survivor, she’s donating a portion of the proceeds to her Cancer Shmancer Foundation. Also, you know I love games, and I have a brand new one to show you. If you thought Deep Dish Dig was crazy, and if you loved Sumove-it Move-it, then you won’t believe what I’m doing today. It’s literally the biggest game I’ve done so far! You’ll have to watch today to see what it is.

Friday, November 6
PAMELA ANDERSON
Whenever PAMELA ANDERSON is here, I know something crazy is going to happen! In the past, she’s done flips over my furniture and stripped down to a bikini. Who knows what she’ll do today? One thing I do know -- she’ll tell me about her new perfume, “Malibu.” There are actually two fragrances, one for “elegant nights” and one for “playful days.” Obviously, I’m wearing both. Then, we all know that kids are our future, so today I’m giving you a glimpse of our future gadgets when I welcome some kid inventors. They’ll be showing me their amazing new inventions, so don’t miss it!

Marcia Cross

Today I welcome "Desperate Housewives" star MARCIA CROSS back to the show. I'm sure she'll tell me how her adorable twin girls are doing. They're about 2-and-a-half years old and must be an armful for Marcia! She'll also keep me updated on all the new Housewives drama. Then, DYLAN WALSH is coming by to tell me about his new thriller, "Stepfather," in which he plays -- you guessed it, the stepfather! Then, I'm playing my new segment "Word of Mystery" again, and will try to make my audience members say a secret word for a big prize. Just remember, it's completely different than my "Mystery Word" segment. Completely.

Monday, October 19, 2009
Hayden Panettiere

I've got a fun show for you today! I love Twitter, and today I did another Twitter challenge at UC San Diego. Over a thousand people show up this time! You won't believe what I have them do. They're playing for a big prize this time -- tickets to one of my 12 Days of Giveaways shows. Then, the beautiful HAYDEN PANETTIERE is dropping by to chat with me. She ends up stripping right in front of everyone, and you won't guess what she's wearing underneath! She also volunteered to be dunked for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I've got a surprise guest to throw the balls. He might just be the worst thrower I've had on the show, and if you've seen Harry Connick Jr., you know that's saying something. Then, you know I love reality shows, and one of my favorites is "Dancing with the Stars." That's why I'm excited to have AARON CARTER & KARINA SMIRNOFF here today. He had been doing well, but barely escaped elimination this week, but they'll do a great dance for me today! Also, 21-year-old music sensation ANGEL TAYLOR will be making her television debut on my show! She's been compared to some of the greatest names in music. Her new CD, "Love Travels," just came out -- and she'll be singing her song "Like You Do."

Tuesday, October 20, 2009
Lauren Graham

The other day, one of my producers showed me a video of a kid who may be the youngest hip-hop dancer -- he's only 4! He's one of the coolest 4-year-olds I've seen... MILES BROWN will be on the show to chat with me and dance for all of us. Then, my friend LAUREN GRAHAM is here. She just announced that she'll be on the show "Parenthood." Every time she's here, she's always up to something crazy. She's one of my favorite guests, so I can't wait. Also, in the last couple of years, ONEREPUBLIC went from hardly being known to being one of the most popular bands -- you might remember them performing "Apologize" on my show. Now they've got a new album coming up called "Waking Up," and will be performing the single "All the Right Moves." It's gonna be huge! And, with all the hidden camera tricks I've done at Starbucks in the last year, people are starting to figure out what's happening. But I'm not done with my hidden camera fun, so I've just picked a new location. It's gonna be hilarious, and who knows... the next time you go to your favorite store, you could be on my show!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Mario Lopez

Get ready, ladies! The very hot MARIO LOPEZ will be here today. Every time he's on the show I try and get him to take off his shirt for you. I promise I'll get him to do it eventually -- maybe it'll be today! He's the host of "Extra," and will keep me updated on the latest news. Then, my personal chef ROBERTO MARTIN is coming back to teach us a new recipe. Last time he taught us Vegan Tacos, which were so delicious. He's an amazing chef and a great guy, and you're gonna want to see what he's cooking for us today. Also, I'm sending Jeannie, my receptionist, somewhere in the country today. Last time I sent her to Miami with the Golddigger machine and ended up giving her brand new GMC Terrain to a viewer. Now, a GMC dealer in Dallas gave me great deal on a brand new one! I wonder what I should do with it...

Thursday, October 22, 2009
David Spade

Today I'm going to introduce you to a 10-year-old girl who is already making an impact on the world. Her name is ANNABELLE HELD, and she started a dog treat business -- but instead of keeping the profits, she donates them to an animal shelter in her hometown of Marietta, Georgia! Then, my friend, the hilarious DAVID SPADE, is also doing an amazing thing. He's been a big supporter of firefighters here in L.A., especially after the wildfires of about two months ago. To thank them for their hard work, he's inviting hundreds of firefighters to a free comedy show later this month. He'll be here to tell me more about this really cool event. Also, JOHN C. REILLY will be here for the first time! I can't believe he hasn't been here yet, but today the talented actor will finally chat with me. He's been in some of the best movies, like "Chicago," "Gangs of New York" and "The Hours," and now he's in the new movie "Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant" -- which I can't wait to hear about. And, if you haven't heard MIKA, you'll want to see him on today's show. He's from London, and after his first album he was compared with Freddie Mercury, Elton John and Prince. He just released his second album, "The Boy Who Knew Too Much," and will perform his hit "Blame It on the Girls" for me.

This week on Ellen...

Monday, October 5
Julia Louis-Dreyfus

You've seen the hilarious dating videos from the '80s, now I have some of the love-seeking guys on my show! We finally get to know whether they found what they were looking for (like "the goddess")! Then, my potty-mouthed neighbor JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS is taking the long walk over to my show -- all the way from the stage next door. That's where she tapes her hit show, "The New Adventures of Old Christine." I think it's time she and I had a discussion about how she treats my staff on the red carpet! She and the rest of the Seinfeld gang are reuniting on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and I'm sure there will be stories! Also, for the first time, JASON SCHWARTZMAN is on the show. He's starring in the new HBO comedy "Bored to Death," but the funny guy is anything but boring. And, MELISSA JOAN HART & MARK BALLAS from "Dancing with the Stars" are dropping by. They'll let me know what's going on behind the scenes, and then hit the dance floor for us!

Tuesday, October 6
Rob Lowe

Last week I showed you a video of an amazing 5-year-old boy who memorized an entire speech from the movie "Miracle." His name is JOSHUA SACCO and I just had to have him on the show! He's here today and you have to see him perform his speech! Then, get ready ladies -- ROB LOWE is on the show! It seems like he never takes a break -- He's in the new movie "The Invention of Lying" and currently stars on "Brothers and Sisters." The other times he's been here we've gone sledding and skiing, and one time I even washed his hair! I have no idea what to expect this time! Then, after six long years, the beautiful JULIETTE LEWIS returns! She's known for doing things her own way -- I can't wait to see what she's gonna say. Juliette is playing a roller derby girl in the new movie "Whip It," so I might need to break out the helmet for this interview! Also, MIRANDA LAMBERT is performing her new song "White Liar" from her upcoming CD, "Revolution." She's taken the country music world by storm in the past few years, and today you'll see why!

Wednesday, October 7
Ellen Page

You won't want to miss today's show! Last week, BILLY CRETAN saw a fire raging in the building above his store. Instead of running away, he ran upstairs and saved a 4-year-old boy! Now the hero is on my show and will tell me all about it! Then, the last time ELLEN PAGE was on, she was celebrating her 21st birthday. Now she's starring with Drew Barrymore in the new movie "Whip It." I hear she and Drew have become close friends. They trained for months to play roller derby girls -- maybe she can show me a few moves! Then, I have the incredibly funny KEVIN NEALON here! He has a new stand-up special, "Now Hear Me Out," and if his past appearances on my show are any indication, you will love it! I never know what he's gonna talk about, but I know we'll be laughing the entire time! Then, MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD will perform their new hit "Say Hey (I Love You)" from their album "All Rebel Rockers." I'm sure you'll be dancing along! Don't miss it!

Thursday, October 8
Clive Owen

I can't believe that CLIVE OWEN has never been on my show! We fix that today, and I can't wait to talk to him. He's starring in the new movie "The Boys Are Back." You'll need a box of tissues when you see it! Then, my old friend JOELY FISHER is stopping by. She stars with Brad Garrett on "'Til Death," but I'm sure it doesn't compare to when she was on my sitcom! I can't wait to see her. Then, I found an adorable 9-year-old named ANNA GRACE who I just had to invite here. She is an incredible performer who sings while playing the piano. Did I mention that she composes her own songs? And last week I sent one of my audience members off to Bora Bora, so we'll show you what she was up to the entire time!

Friday, October 9
Jason Bateman

My friend, the very funny JASON BATEMAN is coming by today! He's starring with Vince Vaughn in the new movie "Couples Retreat." They filmed it in Bora Bora! That gives me an idea... I'm moving my studio to Tahiti! Then, eleven years ago, a tragedy shook the nation -- and me. Matthew Shepard was beaten and left for dead simply because he was gay. His mother JUDY SHEPARD is on the show today to talk about her new book, "The Meaning of Matthew," in which she recounts the horrific event and the impact it's had -- not just on the world, but on her as a mother. She has been so strong -- this is an interview you won't want to miss. And country music superstar TOBEY KEITH is here to perform his new song "American Ride"!

This week on Ellen...

Monday, September 28
REBECCA ROMIJN

It's been 3 years since the gorgeous REBECCA ROMIJN has been here, and a lot has happened since then! She's now a mother to 9-month-old twins with her husband Jerry O'Connell, and if that weren't enough for her, she's starring in the new television series "Witches of Eastwick." (Jerry knows he's got his hands full for the next year!) Last time, she told me she has a vineyard and wants to make wine -- I hope she brings samples! Also, I've got another batch of hilarious commercials from around the world. You won't believe some of them!

Tuesday, September 29
DREW BARRYMORE

Every time I see DREW BARRYMORE, she's doing something new! She just directed her first movie, "Whip It," in which she also stars. Drew's always a fun guest -- when she was on before, I made her guess the mystery word "mushroom" and it took forever! (I still don't know why she thought moss was a pizza topping... ) Today I'll have another fun game ready for her! Then, what do I have in common with four tattooed, motorcycle-riding guys? We love animals! The incredible group RESCUE INK will be on to talk about the amazing work they do. When these tough guys hear that a pet is being abused, they confront the owner and rescue the animal on the spot! They're like guardian angels for dogs!

Wednesday, September 30
HEIDI KLUM

I have no idea what to expect from HEIDI KLUM today! The last time she was here, I asked if she'd donate her dress to charity -- and she took it off onstage! Now, Heidi is just days away from giving birth to her fourth child, so I have a special game in store to make sure she's ready. You're gonna want to see it! I know she'll do well though -- even with her hands full at home, she's great as the host of "Project Runway," and she'll soon be releasing her new photo book, "Rankin's Heidilicious." Then, you'll love my next guest, ladies -- BRAD PAISLEY is here! The cute country singer will perform his hit "Welcome to the Future" from his new CD, "American Saturday Night." Hands off though -- he's married with two adorable little boys! Also, I've got another group of brave people who are coming on the show to let you see their Bad Paid For Photos! They'll be here in the studio, so we can see how they compare now. I can't wait!

Thursday, October 1
KATE WALSH

Today is gonna be a great show! You might remember that Glamour magazine recently ran a photo of a plus-size model. It got such a fantastic response that in their next issue, they're featuring a nude pictorial with plus-size models! Now, four of those models are on my show today to tell me all about the experience -- and the need to include normal women in fashion magazines. It's about time! I can't wait to hear their story. Also, Breast Cancer Awareness month starts today, and I'm doing my part to help find the cure! My show is going pink as I talk about different ways you can join the cause. Last year we raised $568,000, and this year we plan to raise even more! This summer, when I guest-judged "So You Think You Can Dance," MELISSA SANDVIG and ADE OBAYOMI performed an unbelievably touching piece about a woman and her friend coping with breast cancer. I loved it so much, I had to have them on the show today! Then, KATE WALSH from "Private Practice" will be joining me. Breast cancer has touched her life too -- her mother is a survivor. The third season of her show starts tonight, and I'm gonna find out what's in store this year! Be sure to check back all month to find ways you can be a part of "Ellen for the Cure."

Friday, October 2
FELICITY HUFFMAN

I'm excited about today's show! He always brings his friends -- JACK HANNA is here with an amazing assortment of animals: bears, toucans, camels and slow lorises (I think he just made up that last one)! You won't want to miss what he's bringing today. You're also not gonna want to miss FELICITY HUFFMAN. The sixth season of "Desperate Housewives" is starting and I'm sure they'll be plenty of housewife drama to talk about! Last time she was here, she told that she loves to play games, so maybe she's up for a challenge! Then, the incredible ROGER DALTREY is stopping by. He's been all over the world with The Who, now he's on a solo tour "Use It or Lose It," and will perform "I Can See for Miles"! I can't wait!

This week on Ellen...

Monday, September 21
JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT
I love having her here -- JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT will be on my show today for the 9th time! She's starting the fifth season of the incredibly successful "Ghost Whisperer." Last time she was here, she told me she was dating Jamie Kennedy -- now there are rumors that the two are engaged! So far, they've denied it... but I'm gonna get to the bottom of it! KELLY OSBOURNE isn't denying any marriage rumors though -- earlier this year she became engaged to model Luke Worrall. Kelly is on this season's "Dancing with the Stars" with LOUIS VAN AMSTEL, and the two will be on my show for the very first time to tell me everything about it!

Tuesday, September 22
JENNIFER GARNER
It's been four years since she's been on the show, now JENNIFER GARNER is coming back! Last time, she was pregnant with her first child, now she and her husband Ben Affleck have two little girls! And if motherhood weren't keeping her busy enough, Jennifer is now in the upcoming movie, "The Invention of Lying." Also, if you saw my TBS special this summer, you saw the absolutely hilarious comedian JOE WONG. (And if you didn't see my TBS special -- how dare you!) He was so great, I'm bringing him on the show today and you've got to see him! I also have Scottish musician PAOLO NUTINI here and he'll be performing. He'll be performing the hit song "Candy" from his new album "Sunny Side Up."

Wednesday, September 23
COURTENEY COX ARQUETTE

My friend COURTENEY COX ARQUETTE is on the show today! Last time, she told me she didn't have any stories to share, but I'm sure she'll have plenty to talk about with her new show "Cougar Town"! She's one of the few people who embrace their age rather than lie about it. Speaking of lies, RICKY GERVAIS is starring in the new movie, "The Invention of Lying." The hilarious British comedian will be on my show for the first time! (It's true... I swear!) Also, if you haven't heard of JESSIE JAMES, you will soon! She's being compared to Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood, but you can decide for yourself when she performs the song "Wanted" from her album.

Thursday, September 24
CHRISTINA APPLEGATE
CHRISTINA APPLEGATE is on the show today! Last time she was on, I scared her twice -- once in her dressing room, and again when she was onstage! She was a good sport as always, but I'll be using a mirror to look around corners all day today... or maybe I'll just have Mama walk in front of me! Christina, who recently battled breast cancer, will talk about being an ambassador for Lee National Denim Day, the largest one-day fundraiser for breast cancer research. Then, I'll introduce you to a band out of England that everyone is keeping their eyes on -- THE NOISETTES will perform "Don't Upset the Rhythm" from their upcoming CD, "Wild Young Hearts." It's gonna be a fun show, and you never know who else might stop by!

Friday, September 25
TOM DELAY & CHERYL BURKE

This week is the big start of “Dancing with the Stars”! Former House Majority Leader TOM DELAY and professional dancer CHERYL BURKE will come by and fill me in on all the details from the premiere, and perform a dance number for us. I can’t wait to see it! Then, the star of one of my favorite shows, PATRICIA ARQUETTE is here today! She’ll be telling me all about her show “Medium.” This season, it’s moving from NBC to CBS… I just hope they remembered to bubble wrap the dishes! And I’ve got a new game to show you! It’s so much fun -- I don’t want to ruin the surprise -- you’ll just have to watch!

This week on Ellen...

Monday, September 14
SHARON OSBOURNE

Whoever wins “America’s Got Talent” will need SHARON OSBOURNE to like them! As one of the judges, her opinion is worth a lot -- a million dollars to be exact! Her brutally honest comments might not go so well with some of the contestants, but always make for a good interview! Then, I held her when she was 2 days old, now she’s becoming a movie star! The daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, RUMER WILLIS, is here to tell me all about “Sorority Row." I hear she was so good at screaming, she freaked out some of the film crew! Maybe I’ll see how my crew holds up….

Tuesday, September 15
QUEEN LATIFAH

I love her so much -- QUEEN LATIFAH is on the show today! She’s always up for a game… one time it involved kazoos! (She sure knows how to play one!) Maybe I’ll create a game with kazoos and blindfolds! She’s returning to her hip-hop roots with her new album “Persona,” and she’s here to perform one of the songs, “Cue the Rain”!

Wednesday, September 16
JENNIFER ANISTON
JENNIFER ANISTON was the very first guest I had on my show -- now my friend is coming back! She’s in the new movie “Love Happens,” so naturally I’ll see if any love is happening in her life! If not, the last time she was on she made a few comments about one of my staff members… maybe I’ll try and make that work out! Then, it’s their first time on my show and I can’t wait, THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND is here! They’ll be performing “You and Me” from their #1 album “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.” Since it’s their first time here, I’ll find a way to make their performance extra special!

Thursday, September 17
TED DANSON
I blindfolded him years before I started blindfolding my audience contestants -- now TED DANSON is back! He’s on the new HBO series “Bored to Death,” but don’t worry, he’s anything but boring! (Last time, he accidentally brought red high heels!) Also, ANNA TORV is on my show for the first time to talk about the second season of “Fringe.” There must have been good chemistry on-set for the first season -- she married one of her co-stars! Then, one of my very favorite musicians, MAXWELL, will be performing. His newest album, “BLACKsummers’night,” is his first in eight years, and this is his first time on my show! If you haven’t heard of him, don’t miss his performance of “Pretty Wings”! He’s incredible!

Friday, September 18
NEIL PATRICK HARRIS

He’s my good friend and an incredibly talented person, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS is on today! Neil is hosting the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards this weekend and he’s nominated for Best Supporting Actor! The last few times he was here, he broke a light bulb with his mind, pushed metal spikes through my body, lit his wallet on fire and even chopped off his own head! I can’t imagine what he’s gonna do this time! Then, the last time ANNA FARIS was on, she brought me some giant high heels she wore in “House Bunny.” Now she’s in “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” a movie where it rains food. Also, COLBIE CAILLAT has the #1 album in the country right now, and she’s performing on my show! She’ll be singing her single “Fallin’ for You” from her album “Breakthrough.”

MARIAH CAREY

Can you believe it? There's only one more day until my season premiere! It's going to be a huge show! Today is also a day to be excited -- MARIAH CAREY is on the show! We'll talk about her marriage to Nick Cannon… there's all sorts of rumors about the two that I want to know about. (I hear she's pregnant, and if she doesn't give me an answer, I've got a foolproof way to find out!) Mariah is also quite the businesswoman, and she'll tell me all about her new perfume. (There's something about notes, but I might be thinking about the piano.) Then, I've got an adorable 5-year-old named MILAN SIMONE TUTTLE who will show me all of her basketball tricks! She's amazing! I'll also try a new twist on that stupid, stupid game “Doughnuts for Dough,” and see if it's less stupid. (I doubt it.) Also today, my 200,000th audience member walks through the door -- so I've got a big surprise waiting! And don't forget, you can't miss my Season 7 Premiere tomorrow!

Tuesday, September 8
DAVID BECKHAM

It's finally here! I'm so excited! Today is my Season 7 Premiere! I've spent all summer getting ready for it, and you won't be disappointed! Who better to join me for the big day then the sexy, the suave, the frequently shirtless DAVID BECKHAM?! I'm sure you've seen his Emporio Armani underwear ads everywhere -- I'll get him to spill all the details of those photoshoots! And he has no idea what surprise I've got in store for him -- it's positively HUGE! People are talking about it all around the world! Then, I've got the massively popular LADY GAGA performing “Love Game”! She always brings her unique style when she performs, and today is no exception! Also, over the summer you may have seen DONALD LEAKE fail miserably on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” when he answered a question wrong (the right answer was “Ellen DeGeneres”!), so I'm giving him a chance to redeem himself! And if that wasn't enough -- I'm starting today's show with the biggest surprise yet! You're gonna see me do something I've never done on the show before! But you'll have to watch to find out!

Wednesday, September 9
THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA

Y'all better hold on to your wigs! THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA are on the show today! All five of them will be here, and I can't wait to hear what they're gonna say (or do!) I just hope the interview doesn't spill out to the street! Regardless, you'll want to check it out. (Just don't check Sheree, boo.) And it's not just housewives from Atlanta who have their eyes on ANTONIO BANDERAS! Women from all over wish he was their other man! They're in luck -- he's in the movie “The Other Man” and will be telling me all about it! The last time he was on, he brought me homemade paella -- I hope he's cooking up something delicious again!

Thursday, September 10
KATE BECKINSALE

I've got a great show today, and starting it off is the gorgeous KATE BECKINSALE! She's in the upcoming thriller “Whiteout,” which takes place in Antarctica, but I'm more than happy to just turn up the air conditioner for her! Then, from “The Bachelorette,” the newly engaged JILLIAN HARRIS & ED SWIDERSKI are here. It was a long road full of twists, turns and itty-bitty green shorts. Since the show ended, rumors swirled that Ed has been cheating the whole time -- now we get the answers directly from them! Also, PITBULL is performing his hit song “Calle Ocho” from his new album “Rebelution.” You know I love this song! I'm sure you remember I used it for my special surprise on the season premiere Tuesday. (Really, how could you forget something like that?!) And, I've said it a hundred times: I've got the best audience in the world! You'll see for yourself when I show you what might just be the most talented audience members ever -- in my favorite segment: Hidden Audience Talents!

Friday, September 11
KATHERINE HEIGL
KATHERINE HEIGL starts off the show today! She's got a lot going on right now and always gives an interview you won't want to miss! Then, my boo NICK CANNON is coming by. I love this guy so much, he was the DJ for my TBS special this summer. (I'm sure you already knew that!) He is doing well for himself -- he's married Mariah Carey, is the host of “America's Got Talent,” and is the chairman of the new Nickelodeon channel TEENick! Then… when I was 7, I put a nickel up my nose, but 7-year-old PRESTON SCARBOROUGH led police on a high speed chase! Now he's coming here to tell me all about it, but this time we're going to leave the driving to his parents!

REESE WITHERSPOON

Only eight days until my Season 7 premiere! I'm so excited! I'm just as excited about today's show! She's one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood -- the one and only REESE WITHERSPOON is here! She's a bit jetlagged since she just flew in from Germany, so this should be an interesting interview. I hear talkshows in Berlin are a little different -- she was interviewed by a dog! She also tells me that she's bad at acceptance speeches, so I'm going to help her out with my secret acceptance speech tool (also know as "Mad Libs")! Then, you may know that I don't cook much, so it's a good thing I've got BOBBY FLAY to teach me! He's got some great recipes. I'm sure you'll love them too! And, another installment of my Big Stimulus Package -- and this one is BIG!

Tuesday, September 1
PARIS HILTON

It's only 7 days until I start Season 7! I've got some great plans for next season, you won't want to miss them, and you don't want to miss today's show! It's going to be hot -- my BFF PARIS HILTON is on! Last time I went clubbin' with Paris, we made our super secret BFF greeting, I hope she remembers it! It's been a while since we've talked, so I'm going to find out all about who she's dating. I found a picture of her that she's gonna need to explain! I also came up with the perfect gift for my BFF, she's going to love it! Then, I've got a big surprise for one of my audience members. She and her husband just bought a new house, but they've run into some hard times and can't stock it, so I'm going to help her out! I also have some great web videos -- people falling just never gets old! And we play another round of the hilarious "Whistle While You Work It!"

Wednesday, September 2
GEORGE LOPEZ

There are only 6 days left of Season 6, and you'll love what I've got in store for you! He's starting Season 1 of his own late night talk show this fall, so GEORGE LOPEZ is coming by today for a little practice! He is as funny as he is opinionated, and he'll tell me his thoughts about all the things going on in the world. When he decides to run for President, he's already got his platform together -- you have to hear what he's preparing! And you know how I love dogs... George tells me all about his Chihuahuas! Also, she was on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition -- BAR RAFAELI is here! It's been her dream to be on the cover since she was 15, though I don't think she was expecting so much sand. I want to hear how she prepared... maybe I can get a few pointers for my upcoming O Magazine cover! (I'm saying it right now -- I'm not wearing a bikini!) And don't forget that my new season premieres in just SIX days!

Thursday,September 3
SIMON COWELL

In just 5 days, I start my new season! And speaking of getting it started -- THE BLACK EYED PEAS are rocking the house today! They'll be performing their latest hit, "Boom Boom Pow," plus a couple of favorites. I could really do a whole show of their music, but then I wouldn't have time for my other guests. You wouldn't want to miss SIMON COWELL! The opinionated "American Idol" judge is here to tell me what's happening with him. He calls himself a *****cat, do you believe that? He just moved into a new house. What do you get a guy who has everything? One of my viewers knew just what he'd like! Then, Mr. Spock himself, ZACHARY QUINTO drops by. Just like me, he loves his pets, and brought along some adorable photos! And don't forget to tune in to my season 7 premiere on Tuesday!

Friday, September 4
CHER

Only 4 more days until my season premiere! I can hardly wait! But today, I've got one of my favorite guests ever. She's been called a gypsy, a tramp, and a thief -- but most call her a legend! CHER! She's had a phenomenal career and I can't wait to hear her stories -- and she sure has some great ones! She'll spill the details on everything, including a scandalous moment with Sonny, an upcoming movie, if she's dating anyone now, and her shows in Vegas! She doesn't hold back! And in the spirit of sexy and sassy women with a little attitude, I couldn't imagine a better performance than THE *****CAT DOLLS and MISSY ELLIOT. They'll sing "Whatcha Think About That," (but I already know whatcha think about this show)! Also, we're going to play a couple of games with some great prizes. I wonder what Cher will think of Aw Snap! And next Tuesday, I'll be starting my season with something BIG! It's something I've never done before -- you can't miss it! It's so HUGE, you might want to go buy a bigger TV!

This week on Ellen...

Monday, August 24
MARISA TOMEI

I’ve got a little bit of something for everyone today! First up: the incredibly heartwarming and inspiring Ballou Marching Band drops by to tell me all about their first time in the Rose Bowl Parade. Then comes the sexy MARISA TOMEI to tell me all about her Oscar-nominated role as a stripper in “The Wrestler.” She talks about the research she did and shows me her special technique for staying in shape -- it involves a giant hoop! Then we turn-on the fans and mood lighting for the mindblowing magician HANS KLOK. I’ve always wondered what happens to the women he cuts in half -- now I know! Following that, I talk with my favorite spiritual author, DEEPAK CHOPRA. He shares some great ways to find a little peace in your day. And if all that isn’t enough, FOREIGNER sings one of their greatest hits!

Tuesday, August 25
ALYSON HANNIGAN
The very funny (and very pregnant) ALYSON HANNIGAN drops by today! They have to hide her belly on the set of “How I Met Your Mother” -- that can’t be easy! She’s not saying if it’s a boy or a girl, but I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve to find out! Apparently, she has massive cravings for ginger ale… so I put together a gift to make sure she always has it handy. Also, I have an incredible kid named Brandon Wilson on the show. He saved four puppies and their mother from a burning house! I can’t wait to hear his story! I know he wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up, so I’ll see what I can do to help him out! Then, what’s better than making four people battle it out for a huge prize? Blindfolding them!

Wednesday, August 26
PENELOPE CRUZ

The beautiful PENELOPE CRUZ tells me all about “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” She won an Oscar for her role! When her good friend Salma Hayek was last here, she ate crickets -- Penelope said the leftovers ended up at her house! Also, can you believe identical twins DYLAN & COLE SPROUSE are now 16? They’ve been acting since 1993, before they could even talk! When I chat with them, I’ll let you decide whether they’re “adorable” or “heartthrobs”! And, after 9 years, Q-TIP released another solo album -- and all that time paid off! It was one of the best-reviewed CDs of ’08! He’ll sing “Gettin’ Up,” and I know you’ll all be gettin’ up to dance when you hear it!

Thursday, August 27
SERENA WILLIAMS

A few years ago, SERENA WILLIAMS had fallen to 139th in the world. Now she’s won the Australian Open… again! She’s a 10-time Grand Slam champion and became the all-time career prize money leader in women’s sports! (I've got a brilliant idea for Serena's next career goal... Blindfolded Tennis!) I give her a chance to smash my face… you’ll have to see if she did! And if you didn’t get an invitation to Elton John’s exclusive Oscar party, then you probably didn’t see RAPHAEL SAADIQ perform. But don’t worry! He’s here to sing his hit, “100 Yard Dash” from his CD, “The Way I See It”! You’ll know why Elton handpicked him to perform! I also sent RICHARD SIMMONS to my hometown. I’ll talk to him live to see what’s going on -- and you know if he’s around, there’s always something crazy happening!

Friday, August 28
JOHN STAMOS

I love hidden camera pranks, and this season we’ve done some that just keep making me laugh over and over again! I’m gonna cause trouble once again when I talk to a Starbucks worker through a secret earpiece. She’s agreed to repeat everything I say… and I mean everything! Earlier this year, I heard my neighbor on the lot, JOHN STAMOS, was naked in his trailer -- so I did what anyone would do and brought him some fresh cookie dough! (Would you have taken the time to bake it if you knew he wasn’t wearing clothes? I thought so!) We’ve ridden the Dueling Dragons together in Orlando! Whenever we’re together, there’s always something exciting happening! Then I welcome the beautiful EMILY BLUNT to the show for her first visit! Her career took off after “The Devil Wears Prada,” now she’s lining-up the jobs! She loves having fun -- she once got caught smuggling donuts onto a movie set! (How about smuggling donuts to a certain talk show?!)

Monday, August 10
NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN

It always gets crazy when NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN stops by! Last time, we ended up blasting each other with silly string! I've got something very special planned to help Nicollette celebrate the success of "Desperate Housewives"! (Can you keep a secret? Well, I'm proud of you. But you've still got to tune in to find out what it is!) And, if you're gonna be a reject, a rock star is a pretty good consolation prize! THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS will perform their hit "Gives You Hell" from their CD, "When the World Comes Down!"

Tuesday, August 11
JENNIFER HUDSON

My first guest, JENNIFER HUDSON has had a very difficult year, but it hasn’t stopped her from reaching new goals. She’s already won an Oscar, and earlier this year, she won a Grammy! Today she’ll sing her hit, “If This Isn’t Love.” Then, he’s only 8 years old, but ANTHONY IGLESIA plays basketball like a pro! He even partnered with Michael Jordan in a shootout competition -- and Anthony hit just as many shots! I’ll talk with this kid and then he’s gonna show off his skills. (And if they’re smart, the Clippers might want to bring over a contract…)

Wednesday, August 12
JESSICA SIMPSON

Let’s see… she’s a pop music star. A country music star. A movie star. JESSICA SIMPSON is also one of the most beautiful women on the planet. She’ll chat with me and then perform a song from her first country CD, “Do You Know." Last time he was here, CHACE CRAWFORD was shy about discussing who he’s dating, but I’m determined to get it out of him! His show “Gossip Girl” has become a cultural phenomenon around the globe! Then, BRIAN BOYLE broke every bone and damaged every organ in his body in a car accident. He spent two months in a coma, but says he could still hear the nurses dance and laugh to my show -- to which he attributes his recovery! Brian is now a successful college swimmer and a professional Iron Man competitor!

Thursday, August 13
HIDDEN AUDIENCE TALENTS

I start off my show with some amazing hidden audience talents! One guy is gonna try to do a front flip over six members of my staff! I’ll also play a game sent in by a home viewer that involves a lot of different body parts working together at the same time! Plus, PATRICIA ARQUETTE comes from a creative family, and she tells me some very funny stories about her brothers and sisters when they were kids! Also, MEGAN JOY may not have won “American Idol,” but she is just as charming and adorable as ever, and she’ll sing one of her favorite songs from the competition for y’all -- live! Then, WAYNE HOFFMAN is a mentalist, and this guy is gonna freak your freak’s freak! (I didn’t even know that was possible!) You will not believe what he does to my watch! Plus, when you hear RASCAL FLATTS perform their single "Here Comes Goodbye," you’ll know why they couldn’t have called their CD anything other than "Unstoppable.” It is amazing!

Friday, August 14
VANESSA HUDGENS

Audience members put on sumo suits to play “Sumove It, Move It” -- and a very deserving contestant will win a priceless Disney vacation! Then I’m joined by one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood, VANESSA HUDGENS! We’ll talk about Zac, Zac and more Zac. (And whether her tweets are real!) Plus, you’ll meet Sport Stacking Champion STEVEN PURUGGANAN, who broke several world records. He can stack cups at lightning speed -- and he’s only 11! Then, beauty expert KYM DOUGLAS returns! Have you ever used a margarita body scrub? Or made your own “slimming spray”? Her tips for summer are crazy, but they work!

Monday, August 3
JENNY MCCARTHY

Last year’s “Britain’s Got Talent” winner, 6-year-old Connie Talbot, kick-starts my week with her signature song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from her debut album. You won’t want to miss it. She even wowed Simon Cowell! Then I’ve got some really fun stuff in store for JENNY MCCARTHY! She is always game for anything I ask her to do. Plus, since I have a gorgeous girl on the show, it's only fair that SHEMAR MOORE from "Criminal Minds" stops by to even the playing field. Then, Scottish singer AMY MACDONALD, who is earning rave reviews, will perform "This Is the Life" from her debut album of the same name!

Tuesday, August 4
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN

On Tuesday I get to interview our Vice President, JOE BIDEN! I'll ask pointed questions about the direction of our country, the economy, and a serious issue that's very close to my heart. It's a must-see interview! Last time COLIN FARRELL was here, he kissed me. (And I'm not talking a peck on the cheek.) I think he might still have a little crush. I'm a married woman now. But he does look better than ever, and the women in the audience may just melt when he heads into the crowd with a special surprise for one lucky audience member! Plus, it's samba time! TONI BRAXTON and ALEC MAZO give an amazing dance demo. And, Toni will discuss the incredible odds she faced to make it onto “Dancing with the Stars” after battling an illness.

Wednesday, August 5
KRIS ALLEN

I start the show with some incredible Hidden Audience Talents -- and I still can’t get over them! Plus, it was one of the most unpredictable “American Idol” finales ever -- and I welcome the winner, KRIS ALLEN! We’ll chat and he’ll sing for y’all, live! Also, what happens when you follow my tweets and are the first to show up at Tulane half-naked? Ask Michelle Holmes, who I named my “American Idol” Red Carpet Correspondent. Today I’ll show you the exclusive footage that you can’t see anywhere else! Then, singer and actress double-threat MANDY MOORE will perform her new single, “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week”!

Thursday, August 6
MARCIA CROSS

Thursday, MARCIA CROSS is gonna stop by, and I hope she brings pictures of her kids! I hope they’re dressed up as a monkey and a kitty cat! She’ll explain all about “Desperate Housewives,” which is now taking place five years in the future. KYM DOUGLAS is a television host, author, and beauty expert. She’s gonna give tips on being a “recessionista” -- which she defines as a person who looks good without spending a lot of money. Then, he was born a living Legend (literally). JOHN LEGEND'S gonna perform his hit “Green Light” from his CD “Evolver.” He’s a busy guy. John also has a role in the movie “Soul Men.”

Friday, August 7
HEIDI KLUM

HEIDI KLUM has a new makeup collection. The two of us are gonna compete to see who can do a better job of putting her makeup on members of my audience… in just 45 seconds! (Did I mention that we’ll be blindfolded?) And I’m going to play back Heidi’s sexy commercial that parodies “Risky Business.” (If my censors will allow it!) Next, SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT tells me he’s single, and I think I’ll try to set him up! He also tells me about an incident he had when he worked at the L.A. Zoo. It involved a gorilla, a pinecone and an epiphany. (That’s all I can say right now.) Plus, they might not have taken home the title for “Dancing with the Stars,” but SUSAN LUCCI & TONY DOVOLANI are here to show me their amazing dancing skills! (And I still can’t imagine Susan Lucci not winning something -- of all people!)

Weekly Newsletter / July 27 - July 31 2009

This week on Ellen...

Monday, July 27
CHRIS ROCK

CHRIS ROCK’S stand-up is one of the funniest you'll see. We've both voiced classic cartoon characters. He was a zebra. I was a fish. Now the zebra's got a sequel. (Are you listening, Disney?) He’s hilarious on the show today! Plus, ELIZABETH BANKS is such a delight and she's one very busy lady! Elizabeth keeps appearing in film after film after film! Last year, she starred as Laura Bush in “W.” and then made a porno in “Zack and Miri!” (Talk about your acting range!)

Tuesday, July 28
JENNIFER ANISTON

JENNIFER ANISTON is one of the biggest stars in the world, and she's also a very good friend. (She was my first guest on my very first show!) Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox stopped by the old "Friends" set when they visited me this season. This could be Jen's turn! And she’ll tell me about turning the big 4-0! Plus, multiple Grammy-winner STEVIE WONDER is gonna perform two of his greatest hits… live! You’ll have to tune in to find out which ones he chooses!

Wednesday, July 29
SIMON BAKER

I start the show by making a phone call to The White House -- and I get through! Then, you’ll also see an audience member ride an object that’s 14 feet high, and I’ll show you some amazing videos I found on the web that I know you’re gonna love! (Ever seen a fox jump on a trampoline?!) I’ll be joined by SIMON BAKER -- and you’ve got to see his new glasses! He also tells me that he wants to be a U.S. citizen, so we play an American-themed version of my favorite guessing game, “Celebrity”! Plus, MIRANDA COSGROVE is one of the biggest stars on Nickelodeon and I’ve got a huge surprise gift for her! (And I mean physically HUGE!)

Thursday, July 30
BROOKE BURKE AND DEREK HOUGH

BROOKE BURKE & DEREK HOUGH are going to Maaaaaambo! Their dance moves are magnificent! (Arguably, they’re even better than mine.) Plus, you will not believe what KATE WALSH wears on my stage! Kate also tells me about a trip to Vegas that involves a bachelorette party, memory loss and something Kate calls “tired hookers." (Her words, not mine.) Plus, EMILY BEAR is a brilliant pianist. In the past year, she performed at The White House -- and she’s only 7 years old! (She not only met the President, but also… The Jonas Brothers!) Emily has written a song just for me, and it will blow you away! Then, we dunk a famous hunk and play an extra-spicy version of Naughty Musical Chairs!

Friday, July 31
JOHN MAYER

I have always wondered what it would be like to sing a duet with an incredible partner in front of millions of people… and who knew that JOSH GROBAN would make my dream come true?! Plus, I sing “Just Dance” in the bathroom with JOHN MAYER! John also tells me a terrific story about why he literally has only the bottom half of his Song of the Year Grammy… and Alicia Keys has the top! We then play a special version of my favorite guessing game, "Celebrity"! And stay tuned, ‘cause LADY ANTEBELLUM will perform “I Run to You”! And I’ve got a very big surprise to present to the whole band! (Here’s a hint: It’s definitely worth its weight in gold!)

HALLE BERRY

My sumo suits return -- and today two audience members will be wearing them! If the game we play is anything like the last one, they’re gonna need every bit of that extra padding! Plus, I’m joined by one of the most beautiful women in the world -- HALLE BERRY! She’s created her own fragrance and since it’s all-natural, I convince her to drink it! Afterward, she looks like she’s ready for another round! (But please, promise me you won’t try drinking it at home!) And before she leaves, the two of us make up our own dance! Then, FLO RIDA sings his #1 hit “Right Round” for y’all, live!

Tuesday, July 21

Plus, you’ll see some of my favorite web videos, and I promise that this is one show that can’t be missed!

AMY POEHLER

It’s always a good time of the year to celebrate my birthday, and today is no exception! You'll see a contestant in Blindfolded Musical Chairs who is so happy to finally find a chair -- she hugs it like it was her child! Plus, AMY POEHLER brings me a gift that you won't believe! (Here's a hint: It's 250 feet long!) And I also make Amy blush by showing a picture of her when she was a cheerleader! Plus, an audience member invited Tony to her prom, and I’ve got exclusive footage of their big date! This is going to be a very special day! Plus, you won’t believe ERIC SAINTONGE’S dance routine! I don't want to give it away, but it involves Eric doing incredible maneuvers and spinning around on a giant wheel! Oops, I just gave it away! But you’ve got to see it to believe it! And JASON MESNICK will tell me all about being the first “Bachelor” who has a son!

I've always wanted to smell just like PATRICK DEMPSEY. Now I'm in luck and so are you, 'cause he's developed his own cologne! Plus, the singing of 8-year-old TIONE JOHNSON blew me away the last time she was here! We got letters. We got e-mail. We just had to have her back! This time, she's do her own special take on a classic song! I'll also show you more of my favorite web videos, and audience members will play "Apple a Day"!

Tuesday, July 7
DREW BARRYMORE

I absolutely adore DREW BARRYMORE -- and not just because she's a major movie star! She's always got a smile on her face and she's guaranteed to bring one to yours! When she was here before, we played a game where Drew had to identify the lips of guys she has kissed! (And one was E.T.!!) I've got something extra special in store for this appearance! Plus, this year TARAJI P. HENSON became one of Hollywood's elite. Why? She got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress! I couldn't be happier to have her with me. And I have a BIG giveaway for a certain member of my audience!

Wednesday, July 8
LINDSAY LOHAN & PRINCE
Today, you'll see my exclusive interview with LINDSAY LOHAN! She had a very public breakup with Samantha Ronson and appeared on the cover of US Magazine with the headline, "I Am So Alone." I want to make sure that Lindsay's okay and let her know that she's got a lot of support. Plus, when ALEC GREVEN first appeared on my show, he was just a kid with an idea for a book called "How to Talk to Girls." Now he's a New York Times best-selling author. And you know what that means... he owes me my cut! (Alec is still just 10!) Then, you'll see an incredible performance by PRINCE, who rarely appears on talk shows! He's an absolutely amazing entertainer!

Thursday, July 9
GEORGE CLOONEY

GEORGE CLOONEY is on the Warner Bros. lot! I took Noah Wyle's advice and got JOHNNY BENCH and JOE MORGAN from the 1975 Cincinnati Reds to help lure him out once and for all! Today, you'll see how I did it! Plus, KIEFER SUTHERLAND tells me that the first baseball mitt he owned was a Johnny Bench model! (Note to self: Ballplayers are the best way to get a man's attention.) He plays Captain Kirk, and I'm hoping he asks me to Jim Beam him up! And CAROLINA LIAR will sing their hit "Show Me What I'm Looking For" -- LIVE!

A Message from Ellen (11 May - 15 May 2009)

I'm just now recovering from our big Mother's Day Show. The audience was filled with first-time pregnant moms. I was so excited to give away all kinds of great gifts, my water broke! It was a great way to end a jam-packed week. Both SIMON COWELL and RYAN SEACREST were here. I'm gonna find one of them a date - or maybe I'll just find one girl and they can share.

Also, the sexiest man alive came by -- no, Richard Simmons was here for Mardi Gras. HUGH JACKMAN was here! If my body looked like his, I'd never wear clothes… on second thought, if my body looked like his, that'd be really weird.

Plus, the two stars from this weekend's biggest movie, "STAR TREK," were here. CHRIS PINE and ZACHARY QUINTO. I think Darth Vader turns out to be their father.

And, hold on to your light saber, next week is gonna be huge. KELLY CLARKSON will be here! Plus, LADY GAGA and PINK!! And, we're kicking off our DRIVE ME CRAZY GAME WEEK. Someone's gonna win a CAR! Not to mention a whole bunch of other great prizes. You can win too - go to our website to find out how!

Which reminds me, I've got to go… Portia and I are playing blindfolded musical chairs and I took off my blindfold -- she's still wandering around on the lawn...

See ya, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (04 May - 08 May 2009)

Well, it’s official… you can’t drink a thousand shots of tequila! I wanted to do something special for my 1,000th show, but I lost track somewhere between six and eight shots. Instead, I marked the momentous occasion with a huge 1,000th show celebration!

I thank you all a thousand times for watching over the past six years. And I’ve been thanking some of you individually with our $1,000 A DAY IN MAY giveaways.

They say, “It’s better to give than to receive,” but they also say, “The proof is in the pudding”… and I’ve never found anything in my pudding. But I can tell you I’ve been having a lot of fun with my Big Stimulus Package!

Oh, and did I mention that Oprah popped in? Well, she did. I’m gonna be on the cover of the December issue of “O” magazine. Anyway, it’s no big deal. A lot of people have been on the cover with Oprah. Oh, wait a minute -- only the First Lady of the United States! Let’s all raise our shot glasses to the December ‘09 issue of “O” magazine -- the greatest-selling issue of all time!!

You’re not gonna want to miss next week’s shows; my friends SIMON COWELL and RYAN SEACREST are gonna be here! They do a little show called, “American Idol,” maybe you’ve heard of it. And HUGH JACKMAN is bringing over his impossibly toned body. Also, I’ll be giving away more money all week long!

And don’t stop there -- this week’s Mother’s Day show is gonna be the mother of all Mother’s Day shows! The audience will be filled with first-time pregnant moms. I better start boiling water.

See ya, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (27 April - 01 May 2009)

If my math is correct, we're coming up on our 1,000th show… which makes this my 7,439th message to you. See, kids? Your math teachers were right. You’re gonna use math all through your life.

We are having a big celebration for our 1,000th show, and we'll be celebrating all week long by looking back at some of my favorite moments! And there were a lot of moments to celebrate just this past week…

It started off right when I got to surprise my New Zealand followers. We called them up and they went to so crazy, we had to surprise them on the show.

Also, you know how I hate gossip, so I went right to the source. Lindsay Lohan was here to tell us everything that was going on.

And, in his only daytime appearance, my friend, the amazing Prince was here! If I ever go back on the road, I’m gonna have a couch on stage behind me in case I get tired.

We also celebrated Earth Day. It's important to take care of our planet, and it's just as important to take care of each other.

This week we also kicked off our 1,000 Dollars a Day in May. Every day someone in our audience will win 1,000 dollars!

That's not the only exciting thing happening this week. The New Zealand kids will be back to give us their full report on all the places they wanted to see over the weekend, including Disneyland, Wal-Mart and a baseball game. They'll have a great time as long as they remember to drive on the right side of the road.

Also, Michael Douglas will be here on Wednesday and Ryan Reynolds will be here for our 999th show.

I guess you'll have to watch every day to see which show will have a funnier moment than this.

See ya next week... Ellen

Ellen DeGeneres interviews Portia de Rossi

Text by afterellen.com (Sarah Warn):

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show 16. March 2009, millions watched Ellen DeGeneres's much-touted interview with Portia de Rossi, star of the new ABC comedy Better Off Ted and the woman who "also happens to be my wife," as Ellen introduced her.

Ellen made Portia take off her shoes to show they were the same height ("That's the main reason I had you on the show, actually"), then announced it was their seven-month wedding anniversary and quizzed Portia on what it was like being married to her. Portia told stories about how no one knows who she is when they travel, because Ellen is so famous.

Then they talked about Better Off Ted, with Ellen making a funny point about Portia being drawn to play icy, insensitive characters, and Portia explaining she enjoys those roles because in real life she cares too much about what people think.

Ellen and Portia singing "I've Got You, Babe" together in the faux-bathroom.

A Message from Ellen (05 - 09 January 2009)

Happy New Year everybody! The party hasn't stopped, and lucky for me, one of my resolutions was to drink more champagne! I've also got another reason to celebrate because I'm back from my two-week hiatus and ready for all-new shows!

We've got some incredible plans for 2009, and helping me start them off is none other than the legend himself... Mr. Clint Eastwood! I'll chat with you more next week 'cause I've gotta go! It's my turn at strip limbo!

Ellen

A Message from Ellen (15 - 19 December 2008)

"It's the most wunnerful time of the year..." I can't get that song out of my head, because I hear it every time I give away a bunch of great gifts!!

It's been a controversial week of giveaways. ALISON SWEENEY was here and went into labor... sort of. And ADELE recited some spoken word... kind of. And, AMANDA PEET showed us her prized collection of rope... in a way.

What's that?... Am I what?... Oh, yes, thank you for asking - I am the new face of CoverGirl. Mama, your little baby's a CoverGirl.

Wait, I just got that song out of my head... and now I have a new one in my head... "Womanizer. Womanizer. Oh, you're a womanizer..." - which is just as festive.

I guess it's been in my head since I went caroling with Britney Spears. I'm gonna show you the whole thing next week. Wait 'til you see what happened when we showed up at people's doors - caroling-decorating-dancing. We were like Publishers Clearing house, but we didn't have a big check.

I'm also gonna talk to the hilarious JIM CARREY. And, nominated for two Golden Globes this year, KATE WINSLET! And speaking of Golden Globes, CARMEN ELECTRA'S gonna be here.

See ya next week, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (08 - 12 December 2008)

Well, it’s begun. ‘Tis the season for… “12 Days of Giveaways”!! It really “‘tis.” I wouldn’t lie. That ‘tisn’t nice. We started on Thursday with some great gifts, then did it again on Friday… that’s two days. There’s just… let’s see -- carry the two… ten days more to go!

I got a lot of gifts myself this week...
- DAVID COOK was here and gave me the gift of song.
- LADY GAGA stopped by and gave me the same gift… only her song was called: “Just Dance.”
- KEANE sang too. It’s a great gift idea -- just get an amazing band to come over and play for someone. I’ve got a ton of gift ideas… that’s just one.

We all got the gift of looking at BRAD PITT for a while. I’m not re-gifting that one. He showed us the houses being built in my hometown of New Orleans through his Make It Right foundation. It’s amazing to see.

And Brad gave us some great advice on how to get George Clooney. Three words -- CHIPPENDALES! So, that’s exactly what we did. Haven’t heard from George yet, but I’m feelin’ lucky. I think it’s gonna be soon.

I also had a visit from BRANDT BICKFORD, the 6-year-old solar system expert. Apparently he’s partial to redheads, but we got along pretty well… after a few minutes.

Next week is gonna be filled with more giveaways! And each day the gifts get better and better. Plus, my friends COURTENEY COX, BARRY MANILOW and JAMES SPADER will be here!

I’ve got to go, I’m hanging out with BRITNEY SPEARS this weekend and I’ve got to put in my belly-button ring before she gets here.

See ya next week, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (01 - 05 December 2008)

Hi everybody! Did you all have a Happy Thanksgiving? Well, did you? Me too. Thanks for asking. I realized I’m thankful for a lot of things:
- Cranberries
- Television
- Television remotes
- Floats (Parade and Ice Cream)
- Raindrops on roses
- Whiskers on kittens
… wait, those are a few of my favorite things...

I think what I’m most thankful for is the Internet. Because if I had to mail this letter out to all of you separately, I’d never be able to lick that many envelopes. So, thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Internet.

I’m sad to say goodbye to “Naughty November,” but I’m thankful that next week we’re gonna start “Dirty December” with some great guests:
- David Cook
- Jimmy Smits
 - Keane

- And hold on to your knit caps -- here comes “The 12 Days of Giveaways!”

I’ve got to go… I’m still shopping online for all the giveaways… they’re gonna blow your leg warmers off!

See ya next... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (24 - 28 November 2008)

Hey everyone! I don’t have much time to chat because I’m in Las Vegas - the city that never sleeps! Actually, I think that’s New York, but I still haven’t slept, so I’ll catch up with you later.

See ya, Ellen

P.S. Do I hit on 20?

A Message from Ellen (17 - 21 November 2008)

Well, it finally happened. No, I’m not wearing a dress. My staff finally scared me. And they used STEVE CARELL to do it. That was fun and terrifying… it was terrifunning!

Actually, the whole week was filled with surprises:
- I was in the middle of a show and suddenly JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE came out to surprise me. And this all happened while I was awake, ladies!
- Then we surprised TAYLOR SWIFT with her best friend.
- Then we surprised TAYLOR SWIFT with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
- And OMG, my BFF, PARIS HILTON made a surprise appearance. I can call her whenever I want.
- I called a home viewer and surprised her with an amazing AFRICAN SAFARI!
- HEIDI KLUM and I surprised two audience members with makeup makeovers. Don’t try this at home… we’re professionals.
- And surprising or not, we celebrated our 900th show this week! I don’t feel a day over 250. In honor of our 900th show - I gave away a car. Well, she earned it.

We have 900 more shows coming up, which will include the long awaited return of the handsy, CHRIS MATTHEWS! I’ll be ready for him. And, we’re gonna be in Las Vegas, baby! I’ve already got my suitcase full of quarters and my lucky underpants.

I’m gonna be doing a LIVE VLOG on Wednesday, November 19th 2008. I’ll be LIVE FROM LAS VEGAS! Log on to our website early Wednesday morning to find out what time I’ll be LIVE in the afternoon. I don’t know what time it’ll be - probably just after my disco-nap. Mommy needs her disco-nap… especially in Vegas!

See ya, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (10 - 14 November 2008)

What an amazing week. Historic! Moving! Riveting! It was a first! Yes, Cher was here! And, of course, we have a new president. Congratulations to Barack and Michelle and the kids… I know them. They were on the show. Anyway, I’m not bragging, I’m just saying I danced with the next president and the next first lady. I love my job.

We got to play games all week. Because it’s my show and I do what I want… also, it was ELLEN GONE WILD GAME WEEK! (You can make your own fun sound effect right now, just like we do in the studio.) The winner got a trip to Africa!! She seemed excited.

I was also inspired by the AGAPE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S CHOIR. Beautiful!

And this had to be my favorite segment of the week: we were wowed by some KID INVENTORS! Everybody wants equality. Everybody gets an itch. Everybody needs to see things more clearly under water.

I’m not sure what my favorite part of next week will be. Will it be when the hilarious Steve Carell stops by? Or maybe it’ll be when the unpredictable Heidi Klum visits on Monday. Speaking of unpredictable, I’m also gonna get someone else to wear a hidden camera and a mic and have them say whatever I want to some unsuspecting people. If you liked it when I made Dennis Quaid do it, wait ‘til you see this! And we’re having a huge 900th Show celebration on Thursday. It’s gonna be just like the first 899, but better!

Have a wunnerful weekend... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (27 - 31 October 2008)

Hey everybody. I hope you had a great Halloween. I’m writing this letter from my closet… it’s not what you think. I’m in here waiting for Portia to open the closet door and then I’m gonna scream, “AAAAAHHHHHHH!” and scare the bejeezus out of her. I’ve been scaring people all week… I can’t stop.

Actually, the whole week was surprising:
- CLINT EASTWOOD stopped by and surprised us!
- So did NICK JONAS!
- We had some Vegas showgirls here, and we sent them next door to surprise GEORGE CLOONEY.
- WANDA SYKES surprised us with a great costume and a surprise announcement -- she’s black!
- We had some surprise guests get in our dunk tank: MARIO LOPEZ and NEIL PATRICK HARRIS.
- Also, ZAC EFRON was here (No surprise… he was adorable!).
- And I went clubbing with PARIS HILTON (Also, no surprise… it was HOT!).

Then the staff tried to scare me… I was expecting it -- but still… Wait, I think I hear Portia… but, don’t forget, next week CHER’S gonna be on the show! And we’re kicking off GAME WEEK. Plus, PATRICK DEMPSEY, SAMUEL L. JACKSON, and I go golfing with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. Here she comes… AAAAAHHHHHH!! Works every time.

P.S. I promise this is the last time I ask you, but please vote on November 4th!!
And, if you live in California, please:
- Vote Yes on Prop 2 -- which will improve living conditions for animals and not cost you a penny.
- And, Vote No on Prop 8! By defeating Proposition 8 we can preserve everyone’s right to marry!

Thanks, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (03 - 07 November 2008)

This week had all the makings of a great presidential election. It was splashy and surprising -- it had alarms, bells, whistles, rebuttals, screaming, and of course… deception.

And… an actual candidate! Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, SENATOR JOE BIDEN stopped by. He helped me make a big decision. And then it got splashy when he dunked a surprise guest -- JULIA LOUIS DREYFUS -- in our dunk tank.

All the ladies whistled when COLIN FARRELL was here! I'll kiss whoever I want… it's MY show!

Alarms went off when I thought we caught GEORGE CLOONEY in our GEORGE WATCH '08 trap! By George, it was another George. But I won't give up -- I'll get you GEORGE CLOONEY -- if it's the last thing I do!

I got to give my rebuttal to something Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin said on television. Again, I get to say whatever I want… it's my show.

The screaming started when I showed some scaaaaaaary videos. One of them is so good, I'm gonna show it over and over -- because you're gonna want to see it over and over.

We also played a great game of "Your Face Rings a Bell" when VANESSA HUDGENS was here!

And, we put a device in KRISTIN CHENOWETH's ear and sent her to the Warner Bros. gym. She had to say everything I told her to say. It was deceptive and hilarious! She forgot to take it out and I've been talking in her ear ever since… she's made a lot of friends.

Next week could be just as crazy -- CHRIS ROCK will be here! Plus ZAC EFRON! And I go clubbing with PARIS HILTON. I better find my mini-skirt…

See ya, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (20 - 24 October 2008)

Can you smell it? Love is in the air. Our writer LAUREN POMERANTZ finally met the man who wrote in and called her, "cute and loveable." Yes, this week, KENNETH LABONVILLE was here! Their first date included a romantic lunch on Olive Avenue and a spirited game of, "Doughnuts for Dough"!

Speaking of "Doughnuts for Dough" -- the people voted and that's why we had to play it again. Democracy isn't always right.

The rest of the week made up for it:
- MARK WAHLBERG was here! He's adorable -- even with clothes on.
- DAKOTA FANNING stopped by. I gave her a driving lesson -- her first. Luckily, she won't be on the road anytime soon.
- LISA KUDROW and I hung out at Central Perk. She hadn't been there in years.
- We played a really fun game -- my favorite -- The Aw Snap! Game
- And I had the most hilarious time with DENNIS QUAID. I put a device in his ear and sent him to Starbucks where he had to say everything I told him to say. Not only does "Dennis Quaid Want Some Coffee," but he's also a lot of fun!

What a fantastic week! And there's more to come. Next week, Vice Presidential candidate JOE BIDEN's gonna be here! And COLIN FARRELL too. Plus, the star of "High School Musical 3" -- VANESSA HUDGENS. And, I don't know if LAUREN and KENNETH are gonna have a second date, but I'm gonna start knitting little booties for their baby right now. Auntie Ellen can dream...

See ya next week, Ellen

A Message from Ellen (13 - 17 October 2008)

Oh, what a week it has been. Singing, dancing, dunking, oh my! Harry Connick, Jr. tried his best to dunk our friend Zach. Let me say this about his dunking abilities -- he's a great piano player. Julia Louis Dreyfus stopped by. She's a liar.

Actually, when I think about our week, it was filled with liars. Our writer -- and home wrecker -- Lauren Pomerantz was punished once again. And this time I got a professional to help me out. But I think Sheryl Crow wins the award for Best Dunk Tank Outfit. Don't believe me? How dare you.

On Tuesday, my new BFF Paris Hilton dropped by. We made a plan to go out clubbing one night. And we did something spectacular to try to get George Clooney out of his office. My other BFF who inspires me and is apparently inspired by my fashion sense stopped by. In fact, he inspired me to use his microphone.

Now, enough looking back. Let's look forward. And look who's headed right for us! Dennis Quaid, Queen Latifah, Lisa Kudrow, Kenny Chesney and Jesse McCartney. A little something for everyone.

And you'll never guess who gets in the dunk tank next. That, ladies and gentlemen, is called a "tease."

Oh, and how could I forget? We played one of the stupidest games of all time on the show. You can vote on whether or not we should ever play it again.

See ya next week... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (03 - 10 October 2008)

I'm typing this letter with one hand because I'm icing my arm. "Why?” you ask. And to that I say, "Thank you for asking. And I'll tell you why... because you asked so nicely.” I'm icing my arm because we really kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a bang... or a dunk. I've been throwing pink softballs at people all week. Hear me out.

We had an entire audience filled with breast cancer survivors. We gave them a great surprise and then we unveiled our dunk tank. We're raising ten thousand dollars every time I dunk someone. So far, I've dunked two audience members, Jenny McCarthy, and Shemar Moore. And I get to do it all month long!

I also have a small headache. Steve Spangler came by with some science projects. He showed me an electric pickle, some disappearing ink, and he put me in a cloud.

And, my neck's a little sore from an owl landing on my head. My friend Jack Hanna brought over some animals. Amazing! And his toucan tried to eat my eyeballs. It's dangerous being a talk show host.

The good news is: I wasn't hurt when I got a surprise visit from Leonardo DiCaprio. That didn't hurt at all... am I right, ladies? He came by to premiere his "Vote PSA,” which I got to be a part of... Have you registered to vote yet? Go on now. Do it.

We've got another big, big week coming up. Huge, really. Kanye West is gonna be here! He'll show us the world premiere of his new video, plus, he's gonna tell us all about his crazy year of ups and downs, from winning Grammy Awards... to losing his mother.

Also next week -- Sheryl Crow, Christina Applegate, Paris Hilton, Mark Wahlberg and of course, I'll be dunking people all month long! Oh, I better find something else to ice my arm... these frozen peas are melting.

See ya next week... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (29. September - 03. October 2008)

I'm calling this week:
"Liars and Cheaters and Multitaskers... Oh my!"

First of all, this week I found out that one of my trusted writers, LAUREN POMERANTZ, is a LIAR! She told me she would rush the stage at the Emmy Awards and well, she didn't. So, I punished her. Then, and this wasn't surprising, I played a game with ALLISON JANNEY and she cheated again.

And as far as multitasking goes - that's my middle name. Ellen Multitasking DeGeneres. It's French. Anyway, this week I proved it. With the economy in bad shape and the state of the world the way it is, I've found that the best way to soothe your soul is with music.

-DOLLY PARTON came by and sang about Shinola.
-THE PCAT DOLLS sang and danced in outfits that could probably fit actual Pcats.
-KID ROCK kicked it with his whole band.
-And 8-year-old TIONE JOHNSON was here and sang for me. She's gonna rule the world one day.

Next week I've got some more music planned -- JOSHUA RADIN is gonna be here. He sang at our wedding. Also, JACK HANNA with some amazing animals, SUZANNE SOMERS (I don't think she's bringing any animals), JENNY MCCARTHY and JULIA LOUIS DREYFUS. Plus, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we'll have an entire audience filled with breast cancer survivors. And by George, one of these days we're gonna catch George Clooney or my name isn't Ellen Multitasking DeGeneres.

See ya next week... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (22 - 26 September / 2008)

He took the bait! He took the bait! And by "he," of course, I mean George Clooney! And thanks to Kate Hudson, we're hot on his trail! He's not the only new neighbor I've made friends with. Here I am talking to Linda, the newsstand lady.

I also made a big announcement this week. It's too private to write about here.

We played another round of my new favorite game, "Aw Snap!" By the way, you can play at home with some apples, a life vest and one of those bungee cords that your dad uses on top of the minivan. Play nice, kiddies.

If you survived that... then here's a little surprise that happened on the show.

We've got plenty more surprises coming up. Next week, the amazing Dolly Parton is gonna be here! (Talk about Clooney bait!) And my arch nemesis/good friend Allison Janney will stop by for another challenge. Also, blockbuster-maker, lady-killer, Indiana Joneser, Transformer -- Shia LaBeouf will be here. (That's French for "The Beouf.") We just learned together!

If you need me, I'll be on my couch watching the Emmys... can't wait to see ya next week... gotta run, my popcorn's ready.

A Message from Ellen (15 - 19 September / 2008)

Well, the first week of Sexy Season Six is officially under my belt... or behind me... or, anyway... it's over. But it was a doozy!

MICHELLE OBAMA stopped by and danced with me. Who would've thunk she was a Jonas Brothers fan? I don't really blame her - I'm a Jonas fan too.

Then, I showed everybody pictures and video of my wedding. My mama hadn't even seen them yet.

Then suddenly, all my guests were in bathing suits:
- Olympic Gold Medal Beach Volleyball players MISTY MAY TREANOR & KERRI WALSH
- PAM ANDERSON
- Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer - JASON LEZAK
- Even me!

I also showed a bunch of my summer vacation footage. We were on Merv Griffin's yacht, THE GRIFF. All I can say is, "Amazing!" And, thank you to everyone at Merv Griffin Enterprises.

It was the first time I'd seen a lot of the footage. I'm so glad I can share all of this with you. You all mean so much to me. I know I'm married now, but next to my wife, you're my best friends.

I know you'll all be watching next week when we celebrate Sexy Season Six -- Week Two! With: Kate Hudson, Meg Ryan, Betty White, Nelly... and so much more. Plus, I can't wait to play my new favorite game again -- if you missed it, take a look at AW SNAP!

See ya next week... Ellen

A Message from Ellen (08 - 12 September / 2008)

Season 6 is here!! I haven't been this excited since Santa brought me a Slinky. It's gonna be big... real big. And sexy... real sexy. I'm calling it: SEXY SEASON SIX! Hold on to your hot pants, the premiere show alone is gonna knock your knee-highs off!

On Monday, Michelle Obama will be here! I'm gonna dance with the potential next First Lady!

And, on that same show -- I don't even think I can tell you. You may spontaneously combust! Okay, I'll tell you, but I'm not responsible for anything that happens after that... the JONAS BROTHERS are gonna be here! All three of 'em. Are you okay? Good. That's just our first show.

Later in the week, PAM ANDERSON, Olympic gold medalists SHAWN JOHNSON (she's the gymnast), MISTY MAY-TREANOR and KERRI WALSH (they won for beach volleyball), and the amazing, LEONA LEWIS will join me. Plus a bunch more. I told you it was sexy!

It's also my first season as a married lady. I have some personal photos and video from the wedding that you won't see anywhere else, and I may even introduce you to the new missus.

I've got to go figure out what I'm gonna wear for the first show... I'm thinking fish-net stockings. See ya then.

Happy Labor Day weekend everybody! It’s funny that it’s called “Labor Day” – but everybody has the day off. It’s sort of an oxymoron – like “wild boar” or “jumbo shrimp”…anyway, I hope you’re all having a great weekend.

I like to get in front of the grill in my special apron that says, “SOME THINGS IN LIFE ARE BETTER RICH…COFFEE, CHOCOLATE, MEN.” I don’t really cook anything on the grill. I just like to stand there in my apron with nothing else on. It’s a tradition.

I’m also gonna rest up a little because I’m starting Season 6 on September 8th. And it’s gonna be huge. My first guests: (I just made a drumroll sound on my coffee table) none other than possibly the next First Lady – MICHELLE OBAMA. And, (get ready) Jonas Brothers!! And that’s just the beginning.

I’ve got to run now… JCPenney is having a sale.

A Message from Ellen (02 - 06 June / 2008)

Well, summer is officially here! Finally! Now I can vacuum in the nude!

What in the world am I gonna do this summer, you ask? Well, nice reader, I'm going to tend to my garden, I'm gonna start watching "Bridezilla" and I'm gonna get my exercise by dancing to "So You Think You Can Dance?"

But let's face it -- exercise is overrated. So why don't you pour yourself a nice cold glass of lemonade, get a big plate of strawberry shortcake and nestle into the sofa. Then I'll remind you of what a fun time we had on the show this week.

A Message from Ellen (May 26 - May 30 / 2008)

I'm bubble wrapping all my fragile stuff and getting ready for the move to the Warner Bros. lot... and by "fragile stuff" I mean my martini glasses.

This NBC studio is filled with great memories. And this week just added to the list.
• Janet Jackson was here and surprised the audience with "Rhythm Nation." We're all part of it.
• Simon Cowell came by and I told everybody how much I like him. You can tell by the way I keep my hand on his knee.
• We heard some amazing music from Alanis Morissette, Josh Groban and Gavin Rossdale. I love my job!
• And, I got to talk to Senator John McCain about our different points of view on gay marriage. America is an amazing place -- we can talk freely about controversial issues AND we have all you can eat salad bars!

A Message from Ellen (May 19 - May 23 / 2008)

Well, I don't think this week could've been any bigger. I finally had my 50th birthday party AND I made a big announcement! The only way this week could've been bigger is if I secured the nomination for president.

Justin Timberlake helped me celebrate on my birthday show. I'd been counting down the days until he got here. I'm the luckiest girl in all the land.

A Message from Ellen (May 12 - May 16 / 2008)

I'm blowing up balloons for my birthday show next week. I know what you're saying, "Ellen, isn't your birthday in January?" And to that I would say, "Yes, and thank you for paying attention." I'm just now having my 50th birthday party because I wanted to give everybody the gift of... patience. You're welcome.

I'm looking forward to next week, but this past week was a doozy. That was a big balloon -- head rush --
•    I drank vodka with Sean Combs aka P. Diddy aka Diddy aka Dapper (that's what I call him).
•    I went all the way to Chicago and did  a great big show in the rainy, chilly, windy city.  Robin Williams was there. I don't think the cold bothers him...  he moves around a lot.
•    One of my favorite singers,  Alicia Keys, came by and sang for us.
•    And, interestingly enough,  Ashton Kutcher was here and sang for us too.
•    We finished the week with  an audience full of first-time expectant mothers! Nobody went into labor, but I thought one of them might when they saw  all the gifts we were giving away... I'm glad I didn't have to blow up balloons for that show... I just remembered something -- I hate balloons.

A Message from Ellen (May 05 - May 09 / 2008)

I'm on the plane to Chicago writing this note to you. I've had six tiny bags of peanuts... it probably equals one normal size bag, so I don't feel guilty. I am thirsty though. Just ordered another drink... I'll give you a hint: it's on the rocks and it might have an olive.

I'm unwinding from a great week! Helen Hunt came by and talked about her new movie and her love affair with Matthew Broderick (they were young). Patrick Dempsey showed us that you don't need two wheels to get somewhere. It's a shame he's not better looking. Terrence Howard sat in my chair with me. It's much easier to talk that way... sort of.

A Message from Ellen (April 28 - May 02 / 2008)

Well, it's been two days since DAVID BECKHAM'S been on the show. We counted down to his arrival -- it's only right we count away from it. I loved having him on the show. It was a real kick... get it? Kick... soccer kick. And after a lot of pleading, I finally got his shirt off. Never give up! Am I right, ladies?

I also scared the wits out of some viewers when I cut off Neil Patrick Harris' head with a guillotine. He's fine. I would never cut off a guest's head, especially when they're so funny and talented.

Also, I've been on my best behavior since DR. WAYNE DYER was on the show. He challenged the whole audience to keep a log of all the kind things we do. It's a great idea and I can't wait until the entire audience comes back with their stories. I guess I could add to my list: "Didn't cut Neil Patrick Harris' head off." That's a kind thing, right?

A Message from Ellen (April 21 - April 25 / 2008)

Hi everybody… I’m just sending this quick note from the soccer field. I’m “training” to get ready for DAVID BECKHAM!!! He’s gonna be on the show on Thursday and I’ve got to be ready. lkdsnf q;rjfnq’lkaskvl – oops! Someone just kicked the ball at my computer! I’m sure it was an accident.

You’ve got to pay attention to your surroundings. I learned that when Kristin Williams stopped by this week. She came out on the catwalk at a fashion show and fell through the floor. Good thing there were men there to help her up!

Also, I’m a little sore from my new dance move. I learned it watching “The Bachelor.” I think the “Walk Off” will be hitting the clubs this week.

A Message from Ellen (April 14 - April 17 / 2008)

I’ve been having a lot of fun lately. I always try to have fun. Senator Hillary Clinton seemed to have fun when she visited Monday. I’ve always found Hillary to be lots of fun (bowling). On a more serious note, I was so glad to hear that as President, she would do everything in her power to get a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime. My interview with Thomas Haden Church, as always, was a lot of fun. He’s really an interesting person. No wonder people love him so much in the movies.

I was glad Jimmy Kimmel stopped by. We don’t get to see much of each other since we both are working all the time. Sure, we say hi at the weekly “Hollywood Talk Show Host Meeting,” but it was nice having a real conversation. I always love hearing about his family. It was great finally having Jackie Chan on our show. He proves that humor is one of the most powerful martial arts of all. It was a good week for music too. Daughtry and The African Children’s Choir were incredible! And speaking of kids, wasn’t 6-year-old Jalen Testerman amazing? I can’t wait to get to Chicago. I loved giving away tickets for my show in the Windy City to contestants in my favorite new game, "Deep Dish Dig." Remember, you can win tickets to see me in Chicago too! Just enter to win.

A Message from Ellen (March 31 - April 04 / 2008)

I am writing this from Orlando, Florida. I love Orlando. The people here at Universal Studios are unbelievably gracious and it's so much fun hanging around all these people on vacation. They're all so relaxed and determined to have a good time. We won't really be on vacation; we're all working really hard to bring you some fantastic shows -- although we are determined to have a good time! It's going to be a blast, causing all kinds of trouble and mayhem when we play tricks on unsuspecting vacationers. I'm going to really stir things up at the hotel. I can't wait to show you how I get everybody in the pool to do some synchronized swimming. It's amazing what people will do if you just ask them! When I go undercover as a fortune teller, you won't believe the hilarious reactions I get. Wait ‘til you see what happens when l sneak into a spa, pretend I work there and freak the guests' freaks with some frantic facials!

A Message from Ellen (March 24 - March 28 / 2008)

What a week! I'm still getting over the Chris Matthews incident, as I'm now calling it. Did you know that in a lot of countries we would be considered married right now? Thank goodness I had some leftover luck from my Saint Patrick's Day show, or I'd be in a body cast right now. I love Saint Patrick's Day and it was extra special having the pregnant Minnie Driver stop by to help a lucky audience member win a trip to Ireland. My luck continued on Tuesday when I was shooting hoops with 11-year-old sports prodigy Jashaun Agosto. Did you see that shot I made? Is there such a thing as a 50-year-old sports prodigy? A lucky member of my audience scored a trip to Orlando when she won the Puzzle-logue Game, and we were all lucky to see stars like Cheryl Hines, Blair Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Pamela Anderson. I hope Minnie and Sheryl were watching Pam's story of her kid's safety patrols -- just so they know what they are in for. Whoever got picked by that hunky Brit bachelor, Matthew Grant, surely must be one of the luckiest ladies of all! He's one of my favorites and he's got a great attitude about American women.

A Message from Ellen (March 17 - March 21 / 2008)

You may have noticed that our show has been kind of off the hook lately. We've been shaking things up, and I have to say, I've been having a lot of fun! Friday, I played a game of horse with an audience member. Did you see the shot I made? I love sending out different people as correspondents to report for the show. I really think Anthony Gargiula got a kick out of hanging out at the American Idol party. That kid really cracks me up. I laughed really hard last week.

I'm so lucky that I get to hang around with hysterical people like Steve Carell. He is one of the silliest people I know. Speaking of cracking up, it's impossible to look at him without losing it. Be sure to go see his new movie Horton Hears A Who. The critics say that they love it! Wanda Sykes. She really tells it like it is. And another thing that we've been doing lately is tracking down amazing people we find on the web and bringing them on the show. I cannot tell you how much fun I had with Stacy Westfall and Roxy the horse. If you haven't seen it, check out her website for more amazing video. Thanks for all your votes on your favorite tape piece. Our visit to the See's Candy factory was one of my favorites too. Mmmmmm. I love peanut brittle!

A Message from Ellen (March 10 - March 14 / 2008)

Weeee're Baaaaaack! Did you miss me? Sorry for leaving you, but we've been going full speed since the beginning of the year and I really needed the break. I love my job, but having a week off works wonders. It's important to give yourself a break once in a while. Life is hard. Like my friend Dr. Wayne Dyer advises, we have to take time to stop and smell the roses. Unless you're allergic to roses. In that case, stop and smell... something else that needs to be smelled. Even nature takes a break. That's what winter is for. Come to think of it, nature must be exhausted at the equator.

A Message from Ellen (March 03 - March 07 / 2008)

I hope you had a happy leap year. I really needed that extra day. I think there should be an extra leap day at least once a week. Our lives are filled with time saving devices so why does it seem that there's still too little time to get everything done? At least I can save time exercising with my Hawaii Chair. I did get a lot done this week. I had a great interview with Garth Brooks. And anytime is a goodtime to hear him sing. Garth says that he's gonna lay low for a while. I understand that. Everybody needs a break now and then. It will just make it all the more special when he comes back. I got to talk to two presidential candidates this week.

A Message from Ellen (February 25 - February 29 / 2008)

Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday I was celebrating leap year. ...Actually, I was celebrating leap year yesterday. I like to get a jump on it ...or a leap on it would probably be a better way of putting it. Whutt the February comes to an end next Friday. I would like to think that I freaked your freaks this month. My show seems to be getting freakier. These days you never know whutt to expect. I'm glad that the Highway To Ellen crew made it to our studio safely. I'd like to thank Ephraim and Chester for showing them around Houston. The girls barely made it to the show on time Friday. We rewarded them with some weekend pampering at the posh Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel. So they can go back home refreshed. It's good to be refreshed for the holiday season.

A Message from Ellen (February 18 - February 22 / 2008)

What was life like before music was invented? Dull I imagine. I bet the Grammy Awards were really boring. Thank goodness music did get finally get invented because now the Grammy's are better than ever! I'd like to thank the Grammy people for letting me do my show there. It's one of my favorite shows of the year. I'm really happy about where music is going these days. Taylor Swift is going to be a giant star. James Blunt is always charming. I can't believe he auctioned off his sister on eBay. Weren't Daughtry great sports for performing their song with those instruments I gave them? I think my favorite part of the show was having Chester Pitts and Ephraim Salaam on the red carpet.

My Big In Japan Show was a lot of fun too. I love all their goofy inventions. I wonder if the Japanese Ellen has ever done a "Big In America" show? It was great meeting Sir Richard Branson. What a great guy for giving away all those plane tickets. I can't wait till he invites me into space on his spaceship. I love Steve Spangler! Even if he is trying to blow me up. He makes science so fun, it almost makes you forget that it's science. I hope you had a happy Valentine's day. I think Stryker really had Larry King confused when we did the Valentine's Game.

A Message from Ellen (February 11 - February 15 / 2008)

We've had another exciting week of "Whutt The February!" Monday, I had a blast with Jack Hanna. I kind of get the idea that he doesn't really have his animals completely under control. Those hawks were amazing. We're lucky no one in the audience was attacked. We all had fun on Super Fat Tuesday. Congratulations to Tricia Farve for winning a GMC Acadia. I'm glad that for Mardi Gras, we could remind everybody that the people in New Orleans are still overcoming Hurricane Katrina, and they still need our help.

Thank you Stryker for going down there to give us an update. And thanks to my friend, Former President George Bush, for your surprise message. I'm still going to do everything in my power to keep on helping my hometown While I'm thanking everybody, I thank you for all your contributions to Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation. If you haven't contributed yet, I'd like to thank you in advance. Be sure to click on to Team Ellen. One hundred thousand thanks to S.C. Johnson and Glad for their $1000,000 donations. And a super big thank you to health and beauty expert Kym Douglas for putting up with my high jinks. Hey Paris, I love the shoes and wear my new hair everywhere! And how about David Tyree and his underdog New York Giants beating the undefeated Patriots? I hope he liked the underwear and Velcro helmet I gave him.

A Message from Ellen (February 04 - February 08 / 2008)

Last week will go down in history as the week I discovered the Hawaii chair. ...Unless it goes down in history as the week I discovered the Tiddy Bear. ...Or the week we started playing the marshmallow game. Whatever it ends up being, I'm sure that people will remember for years and years, that this was the week that we had you saying, "Whutt The February?" By the way, I hope you're reading this while sitting in your Hawaii chair. Now you can read and work your abs at the same time! If you're reading this while driving, I hope you're wearing your Tiddy Bear.

If you're not going to drive safely, at least you can drive comfortably. Don't get me wrong, driving safely is important so if you are reading this while driving ...be sure to lock your doors. If you're reading this at home, lock your doors too. You don't want to end up like Brittney Strong. Wasn't that an incredible story? That's why I always keep my Hawaii chair collection in a special locked room. ...along with my Guitar Hero guitars. Did you see 11-year-old Kevin Shen's incredible performance? He practically melted the guitar. DeAnna Pappas just about melted when I broke the news that she was going to be the next Bachelorette

A Message from Ellen (January 28 - February 01 / 2008)

My 50th birthday celebration was as fantastic as it could be, but it's probably a good thing that you only turn 50 once. I don't know how many more surprises I could take. Remind me to clean up the empty cake plates from under the couch cushions. I've still got Silly String in my hair and there's confetti in my cereal. What a party it was last week. The Jonas Brothers were great, and I really love Kellie Pickler. It's interesting that she's doing way better than a lot of the singers who won on "American Idol." It was a privilege to have Dr. Wayne Dyer on my show. His wisdom, insight and message of positivity is a gift to all of us. The best part of last week were the surprises. Like the call I got from Justin Timberlake, Stryker's present of Dramarama or Heart's surprise performance. One of the funniest moments was when Ryan Seacrest gave me his grandmother's bingo game. I guess he'd never seen a bingo blotter before.

A Message from Ellen (January 21 - 25 / 2008)

I want to start a movement. I can't remember if I've ever started a movement before. If I have, I hope it's still moving. This new movement is a good one though. I want to get everybody to play more games! Playing games sharpens the mind and our reflexes. If we played more games the world would be a better place. Think of all the conflict that could be worked out if we were all playing Pictionary instead of fighting. In school, we had recess every day. It was great to get out for a little while to run around and play. People at work should have recess. From now on, every day at 3 O'clock, everybody should go out into the parking lot to play kick ball. Set your watches!

This week of games was a blast! We really lucked out with some fantastic Contestants, and it's always great when my guests help out. I was really glad to finally meet Marilu Henner. The games were fun and the competition was close all week. Congratulations to Lindsey Norman for winning the $10,000 cruise. This was also an exceptional week for music. I loved The Plain White T's and it was great meeting Joshua Radin and Taylor Swift. They all have such talent, I really get the feeling that they are going to be big, big stars for a long time to come. Just like my super pre-birthday surprise guest, Jill Scott. This is really shaping up to be a fantastic fiftieth.

Ellen DeGeneres tops Oprah as #1 TV personality

pageoneq.com reports: "Openly lesbian household name Ellen DeGeneres has surpassed superstar Oprah Winfrey as America's favorite TV personality among adults in a nationwide Harris Interactive poll.

American TV viewers have showed a strong preference among the general population, and especially single women and Democrats, for the actress and veteran stand-up comedienne. DeGeneres, bumping Oprah into the #2 slot, becomes the first openly gay celebrity to reach #1."

A Message from Ellen (January 14 - 18 / 2008)

I hope you enjoyed my favorite kids week as much as I did. I love kids. I'm thinking about opening up a daycare in the riff raff room. It's too bad that we have to grow up, but I guess at some point, the parents really need the break. I read that the only animals that stay with their parents longer than humans are whales. It's probably easier having a whale baby. You never have to get them to clean their room, you never have to make them wash behind their ears. ...I don't think whales even have ears. ...I wonder how they keep their glasses on?

Marc Yu is great on the piano, but I like his jokes even more. Of course, Emily Bear was wonderful as usual. I wish she could be on every day. Maybe I should have an all kid house band. Tristan and Nic Puehse are amazing skateboarders. I bet their mom is a nervous wreck. Someday, when he's headlining in Vegas, you'll go to see the grown up Anthony Gargiula and say to yourselves, "I first saw this guy on Ellen." I can't wait to hear his backstage reports from American Idol. Speaking of Idols, I was totally surprised by Mary J. Blige's birthday present. What a gift to have someone so talented sing for me. It was great to see all the improvements that ZOOTOO made to Janice Wolf's animal refuge. What a fantastic human being.

A Message from Ellen (January 07 - 11 / 2008)

Happy New Year!
2008 is so fresh and clean and, wait a minute, (sniff) it still has that New Year smell. I hope you had happy holidays. That's what holidays were invented for -- happiness. I'm not sure what the first holiday was, but I bet even then, people had fun decorating the cave and putting lights and ornaments on the Christmas rock as they grunted out their favorite carols. I bet that the first New Year probably wasn't that much of a big deal since everybody was still getting used to the whole "time" thing, but I'm sure that by the time the second year rolled around, everybody was ready to celebrate in Times Square.

A Message from Ellen (December 17 - December 21 / 2007)

Wouldn't it be great if the holidays and the holiday spirit lasted year round? But then, I guess it wouldn't be as special as it is when it's just once a year. Plus, we'd all go broke having to buy presents over and over again. We'd have to permanently plant a tree in our living rooms. It's probably a good thing that we only have egg nog once a year. Once a year, it's kind of a treat. Egg nog on a hot summer day? Maybe not.

A Message from Ellen (December 10 - December 14 / 2007)

I've got it. Do you have it? I've officially got the Christmas spirit! It helps that the weather has been a little chilly. You can smell chimney smoke in the air at night. They should make "chimney smoke on a cool night" potpourri. It's magical. You know what else is magical? Giving. Sometimes I think I'm one of the luckiest people in the world because every year at this time I get to give away thousands of gifts. I kinda know how Santa feels, or Scrooge after he wakes up from those ghosts. We kicked off my 12 Days Of Giveaways and so far, so great! Did you meet "Big Package?" He's a little square, but he's very sweet and he loves to dance like me. You should see the piles of gifts the elves have stacked up in the gift barn in the back, and they're just going to keep getting better and better.

I got a little gift myself this week. I got to talk to Jenna Bush's dad. I think we caught him off guard. He was probably relaxing after a hard day of work, and I interrupted him and Laura while they were in the middle of Guitar Hero 3. Vanessa Williams was a lot of fun, and so were newlyweds Michelle and John Brubaker. Maybe one of the best wedding dances ever. Did you see 9 year-old Carl Brown Jr., and 8 year-old Davis Soots? Carl saved Davis' life by giving him the Heimlich maneuver. What a great story. I'm really lucky to have some of the most incredible kids on my show like the amazingly talented Anthony Gargiula. He's like Clay Aiken in an 8 year-old's body. It was great having Paula Deen back for the holidays. How about that chocolate cheese fudge?

A Message from Ellen (December 03 - December 07 / 2007)

I am looking forward to the holidays. I find the looking forward part way more fun than the looking back part. Like Carly Simon sang, anticipation, anticip-a-a-tion, is keepin' me way-a-ai-tin'. There's this ball of excitement I can feel inside me. Even though the holidays are over commercialized, I still can't help getting that same tingly feeling I've had around the holidays since I was little. Nothing against looking back. I look back all the time. Especially when I'm backing out of my driveway. Remember last week? Boy those were the days. It was a simpler time when everybody knew each other's names and you could borrow a cup of sugar from your neighbor. (My neighbor moved away this week, so no more sugar for me.) Remember Darius Weems and Logan Smalley and the story of their amazing friendship? Remember kid inventor Derek Martinez' helpful review of this year's toys and his 1 to 1000 "Fond Of Meter"? I can still recall the week that I had Tom Brokaw, Paris Hilton, Anderson Cooper and Howie Mandel. Who could forget Howie's modeling advice? We had the bachelorette who got dumped and the bachelor who dumped her. We even tested Miss Puerto Rico, Ingrid Marie Rivera, to see how much abuse she could take while walking the runway. ( I wonder what she thought when she saw that bottle coming at her head?) I had a blast with Rocco DiSpirito. His recipes are so simple, I think that even I could cook them.

A Message from Ellen (November 26 - November 30 / 2007)

Hi. Did you give thanks last week? Giving thanks is much better than taking thanks. It's rude not to accept a thank you, but I recommend re-gifting it. I gave thanks for all of you who have been so supportive over these last 5 years. I can't believe that we've done over 700 shows already. It was hard fitting all the fun we've had in just 1 anniversary show.

A Message from Ellen (November 19 - November 23 / 2007)

I hope you enjoyed my biggest game week ever. Congratulations to Alison Metzler from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Alison won over $25,000 (including a $17,000 trip to Fiji). I love surprising people with fabulous prizes. Although, when I see the winners after the show trying to put new washers and dryers in their trunks, I wonder if I should be giving away gift cards instead.

A Message from Ellen (November 05 - November 09 / 2007)

Welcome to "No Way November ...Whuttt?" They should probably change it to Yes-vember because we're saying yes to blowing your minds this month. But first, let's say goodbye to October. Thank you, Barack, you've got my vote for best dancer. So long Halloween tricks and treats. Cheerio, Victoria Beckham. Thank you for making me taller. See you later kid inventors. Thanks to you, I see a future where wedgies are a thing of the past.

A Message from Ellen (October 29 - November 02 / 2007)

Welcome to my favorite time of the year! (If you don't count Christmas, Ground Hog's and Arbor Day.) It's Holla-Ween everybody! Last week, I got into the mood early with guests like REESE WITHERSPOON. She's got so much charm and good manners and talent, it's SCARRRRRRY! STEVE CARELL terrified me with his hilariousness. How can someone be so funny? SPOOOOOKY! Then, there were the JONAS BROTHERS. Oh, to be so young and talented, it's FREAKY! Did you see how I was able to find out if HALLE BERRY's baby was going to be a boy or a girl? SPINE TINGLING!

A Message from Ellen (October 22 - 26 / 2007)

I'm taking it easy this weekend. It's been a pretty rough week. For those of you who've been out of the country or fell asleep with your iPods on, I've been having some dog problems. I'm still hoping for a positive outcome. In the meantime, I want to thank you all for your support and encouraging e-mails. Tuesday we'll be devoting part of our show to promoting pet adoption. In spite of everything that happened last week, I can't stress enough how important it is to adopt a pet. For now, I'm going to curl up to Wolf, Charley, George and The Chairman and get busy relaxing.

A Message from Ellen (October 15 - 19 / 2007)

So, how did you like game week? I think it went so well, we were all winners. As you know, I love playing games. As a matter of fact, I'm playing Chutes And Ladders as we speak. ...darn it, I just slid back down! ...Where were we? Oh, game week.

A Message from Ellen (October 8 - 12 / 2007)

I can't believe how generous everyone's been in helping me kick off my "Ellen For The Cure" campaign. We got some big contributions from New Balance, General Mills and Nonni's Biscotti, as well as all of your individual donations. We're well on our way to reaching our goal of raising one million dollars. But we still have a long way to go. Don't forget, you can show your support by buying pink underwear at the Ellen shop. In the mean time, as Queen Latifah showed us, breast self-examination is a must.
